Re: Europa League > September 20 Two games interests me.Dnipro-PSV and Twente-Hannover Dnipro is presented to a good level in the Ukrainian Championship as he took second place behind Donetsk.Dnipr are unbeaten at home since the last year.Despite this they stand against the best performing Dutch team PSV.PSV been a regular participant in this tournament unlike Dnipro.Since the beginning of the Dutch and Europe leagues PSV humiliates their opponents 5:1 against AZ,9;0 aainst Zeta,5;0 against Roda,4;2 vs Ajax.I think that we cannot compare Dutch and Ukrainian leagues and because of the PSV's form and their experienced players i think they will take the 3 points here. This games has goals written all over it.Both teams play attacking and attractive football.Yesterday Twente scored 6 against Willem but conceded 2.They eliminated Bursaspor after scoring 4 and conceiding 4 in 2 matches.Hannover scored 10 and conceded 4 against Slask.Hannover and Twente have faced each other a couple of years ago when the game finished 1:1.I think this game won't make any difference and we will see some goals in it.Over 2.5 or G/G

Two games interests me.Dnipro-PSV and Twente-Hannover Dnipro is presented to a good level in the Ukrainian Championship as he took second place behind Donetsk.Dnipr are unbeaten at home since the last year.Despite this they stand against the best performing Dutch team PSV.PSV been a regular participant in this tournament unlike Dnipro.Since the beginning of the Dutch and Europe leagues PSV humiliates their opponents 5:1 against AZ,9;0 aainst Zeta,5;0 against Roda,4;2 vs Ajax.I think that we cannot compare Dutch and Ukrainian leagues and because of the PSV's form and their experienced players i think they will take the 3 points here.
How did you reach this conclusion that we cannot compare Ukrainian and Dutch league? Actually, according to UEFA rankings, Ukrainian league is considered stronger at the moment - Ukraine's country coefficient ranks them at 7th place in Europe, just one place above Netherlands. Now let's quickly see the results when Dutch teams met Ukrainian in the last year: - Metalist-AZ 1:1; AZ - Metalist 1:1 (Europa League 2011) - Dynamo Kyiv - Feyenoord 2:1; Feyenoord - Dinamo 0:1 (CL 2012) This does not look like Dutch domination, does it?! You are right that PSV are humiliating their opponents, but only when they play at home. Their away form is not that impressive - they lost both to Waalwijk and Utrecht, and they managed just one away victory - to Groningen. And I am quite confident that the smashing of Zeta Golubovci is representative of absolutely nothing with regards to the match with Dnipro. Last year's away record of PSV is also not impressive at all: 6-5-6. Dnipro show great form at home and I think that definitely the value in this game is in their hands. It would be very hard to get them beaten at their own stadium, and at this very high prices for Dnipro punters have a wide maneuvering options - besides straight win, they can also go for Dnipro DNB and even "Dnipro or Draw" at good price.

Re: Europa League > September 20 Europa League- 20th September- 21.05 CET Twente-Hannover over 2.5 @1.84 5/10 188bet (fair @1.70 this line) Both teams are very overish. Twente scored 15 goals in their own league having good players like Tadic, Fer, Chadli and Castaignos for their offense. Hannover with 3 overs so far, drawing 2-2 against Schalke, winning 4-0 away at Wolfsburg and then beating Bremen 3-2 at home. They have a really good attack, new signing Huszti with 2 goals against Bremen was outstanding. They really like to play against teams that do not sit back and defend with all of their available players. Twente won't defend and that's is what Hannover like. Hannover's defence looked shaky in a couple of games so far and I cannot see them keeping a clean sheet here. For me an outstanding price here, got to take it. GL Edit: odds were @1.84

Re: Europa League > September 20 Spurs vs Lazio is an interesting one to me. The Lazio manager Petkovic has already stated that they will try to win in London and that its unlikely that anyone will be rested because its not necessary so early in the season. Whether or not he actually goes through with this promise is a different matter but it does make sense for him to put out a strong team here. It will be important to get points on the board early as it allows a bit of leeway later on in the group. You would imagine that he'll be looking to rest some players in the games later on against Maribor & Panathanikos, but if they don't have the points in the bag by then, then it could cause a bit of a dilemma. Additionally, Lazio have started the season really well. They've somehow managed to avoid making any usual catastrophic mistakes in defence, partly helped by the fact that they've got a bit of consistency in selection now, and they've also been very efficient in attack. Hernanes has been excellent, playing in a deeper role allowing him to control games and bring his quality to more areas of the park. Last year he was stuck a little bit in the 'trequartista' role and faded in and out of games too much. To keep more or less the same team vs Spurs (the RB Konko may miss out as he injured vs Cheivo) will allow the players to develop in their roles and partnerships. Now I will have to wait to hear what the signs coming out of White Hart Lane re squad selection are but if AVB is looking to rotate a little then it could be worth having a look at Lazio with a current price of 4.6 offering some handicap options. However I don't actually think AVB will rotate that much, for similar reasons to Lazio. They were very impressive away at Reading yesterday and having toiled in their previous games, I can't see much point in changing a winning team. One or two changes maybe, with the likes of Lloris and Adebayor coming in is fine as this wont reduce the quality of the team, but too many more would. Therefore I'm currently leaning towards the overs at a very nice 2.0 in a number of bookies. We know the attacking talent Spurs possess and having swapped one of the 2 defensive midfielders for a more attack minded one vs Reading, continuing like this should yield goals. Whilst they've done ok so far this season, the Lazio defence can be got at and most of the back 4 and the GK are prone to the odd reckless moments. Similar applies for Spurs, as we now AVB can at times play a risky defensive strategy. They've conceded in all their games so far this season and Lazio in an on form Hernanes and Klose are strong enough to exploit. Both to score would also be another decent option I guess.

Re: Europa League > September 20 Pardew will ret his key players in the Europa League as they cannot to afford to play in 4 competitions with their best players as they want to finish 4th in the Premier League and they also want to get as far as possible in the FA Cup. Despite that, Krul, Coloccini and Tiote are injured.

Re: Europa League > September 20 Liverpool will come with a few youngsters. New signing Yesil will get a chance here. They are also likely to bring Sterling and Morgan to Suiss as well having in mind they will host their bitter arch-rivals Manchester United on sunday. Luis Suarez is likely to stay at home.

Skipper Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Joe Allen and Martin Kelly will all be rested ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester United at Anfield. Pepe Reina, who is only one game short of equalling Ray Clemence’s club record of 80 appearances by a Liverpool goalkeeper in Europe, will also remain at Melwood. Brad Jones is set to start in goal against Young Boys with Peter Gulacsi providing cover on the bench. odgers will take a youthful squad to Switzerland including Samed Yesil, Suso, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady, Adam Morgan, Jon Flanagan, Jack Robinson and Dani Pacheco. The manager wants to avoid a repeat of what happened after the play-off round second leg with Hearts last month. He fielded a strong line-up against the Scots at Anfield but the Reds paid the price for their exertions three days later when they were soundly beaten by Arsenal. With Rodgers desperate to ensure Liverpool are firing on all cylinders for the visit of United, he has taken the decision to make wholesale changes for their Group A opener. Oussama Assaidi will make his Liverpool debut a month after he was snapped up from Heerenveen for £3million. The Morocco international, who has overcome a minor knock, wasn’t eligible to face Hearts having appeared for the Dutch club in the third qualifying round. However, Assaidi is now free to play for the Reds in Europe and is likely to start on the left wing. Despite the emphasis on youth, there will still be plenty of experience in the team which faces Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse. Nuri Sahin is expected to start his second game for the Reds following his loan move from Real Madrid. The Turkey international midfielder, who was an unused substitute at Sunderland last weekend, needs to build up his match fitness and will be hoping to stake a claim for Sunday’s game against United. Jamie Carragher, who will skipper the Reds, is set to partner Sebastian Coates at the back with Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing also involved. Raheem Sterling will travel to Switzerland but may only play a cameo role ahead of Sunday’s game with United.

Re: Europa League > September 20 Afternoon Gentlemen, Starting to dip my toes back in the water after taking a long sabbatical from having a wager. After a quick glance at the list of fixtures I have decided to have a bet on the Young Boys / Liverpool game. Not a lot of reasoning behind this and straight to the point, I am backing Young Boys purely on the basis of the players Liverpool have traveled without, can't see where thegoals are going to come from without Suarez and Gerrard to a lesser extent. Secondly, not a 100% sure but I think Young Boys play on an artificial pitch & that has to be of some advantage. So all in all there is there are enough unknown factors for me to have a bet on Young Boys 5 points @ 2/1 in Ladbrokes leesidepunter

Re: Europa League > September 20 As discussed before I think I will take the punt on the overs in the Spurs vs Lazio match. It’s looking more and more likely that both teams will field strong teams. AVB has talked up his sides chances of winning this competition and early reports suggest that he’ll not make too many changes to the team that beat Reading. Indeed he has a few injuries to the likes of Livermore & Adebayor that prevent as much rotation than he may have liked, so with the exception of Lloris and Dempsey in for Freidel and maybe Sigurdsson, it’s likely to be very similar to Reading match. They were excellent in that match, swapping a defensive midfielder for the more dynamic Dembele which made them more free flowing and they looked dangerous every time they went forward. There are still questions at the back though for me. Obviously dropping the defensive midfielder means the defence loses some protection, and Naughton at right back is relatively inexperienced at this level. A new GK may also need some time to bed in & create a relationship with his back 4. With the quality and form in attack that Lazio have they will trouble Spurs throughout the match, particularly on the counter where they are very direct and have players who can carry the ball forward quickly. Like Spurs however they are weakest at the back, they will miss Konko at right back, and Scaloni for me is a bit of a liability. Dias and the young Cavanda are also prone to be a bit rash. Spurs vs Lazio – over 2.5 goals 2.0 at Ladbrokes ( 2 / 10 units)

Re: Europa League > September 20 Can’t help but think that Napoli are a bit too short given the team news coming out of Italy. It’s likely that Mazzari will make maybe 9 changes from the team that won at the weekend against Parma. In defence things still look ok, with De Sanctis in goal joined by Cannavaro, Fernadez and Gamberini. The later two are not first choice but are still decent replacements especially the experienced Gamberini, although Fernandez is yet to start this season and Gamberini has only a half of football under his belt. In midfield the two wings back should be Mesto on the right and Dossena on the left. Again these are decent names but neither have played this season so may be rusty, which isn’t ideal in a role that is so demanding fitness wise. The central midfield two are likely to be Behrami and Donadel. These two know each well having played at Fiorentina, it’s a hard working and tough combo but not that inspirational. The front three are likely to be Vargas and Insigne with El Kaddouri playing just behind them. The Moroccan appears likely to get the nod ahead of Hamsik after performing well in training. He’s an exciting prospect who had a very good year at Brescia last season, but this match will be a step up from Serie B. Both Vargas and especially Insigne are young and creative players but because of that they are more likely to be playmakers than out and out strikers. They will between them create chances but without a Cavani esque striker, not sure who is going to be there to convert many of these. I think it’s probably a strong enough team to get the win but match fitness may be a problem as will the fact that many of these have not played together much which could lead play becoming disjointed. This should help AIK keep things tight, whilst having one or two opportunities themselves as the games goes on. Their form is very good with 5 wins in 5 conceding just once in these games. The 2-0 away win against CSKA Moscow is very noteworthy, and limiting the Russian team, who fielded strong lineups to just one goal over the two legs does indicate that this team are a solid outfit who won’t be overawed by a much changed Napoli side. Having a quick look there could be some plays either the +1.5 on AIK or more likely in the goals market. Both under 2.5 and under 3.5 are priced nicely at 2.25 and 1.55. I’ll sleep on this.

Re: Europa League > September 20 Is it just me....or is there one fixture leaping out at me for tomorrow... Hapoel Tel Aviv - Athletico Madrid Athletico 8/11 at William Hill...their last 5 away games in the Europa League have been wins over Celtic, Lazio, Besitkas, Hanover & Valencia, all arguably stronger sides than Hapoel despite the intimidating Israeli home support...... Hapoel barely convincing, especially at home. Losing their last 2 Europa league home games last season to PSV & Rapid Bucharest. Their squad is a joke by European standards, the only 2 players i've heard of are John Pantsil and Eric Djemba-Djemba...need I say more. If Athletico take a strong squad (anyone????) then i'll be going big on those odds with William Hill. :p

I absolutely agree that odds seem tempting. Atletico were amazingly consistent last year in Europa League and now they are even stronger team. However, I have one major worry here. They already won second Europa League over the past three years. I suppose they won't be starving to get a third one, my guess is that this time they will totally focus on Primera and getting CL spot. On the other hand, they have an easy fixture (as far as there could be an easy one in Primera) against Valladolid during the weekend. My advise is to bet live on this one. Most probably there won't be any early goal in the first 15-20 mins so this could time could give you good outlook on the game prospects. Pay a lot of attention to Atletico's tempo - the speed at which they are passing and running, the way they enter into tackles and first-ball clashes. These should be important indicators of their intention. If you see Atletico do something as Barcelona did tonight - lazy loitering around, walking across the pitch and sparing themselves from tackling - then runaway from that game. Apoel is not a team to be beaten at home in a lazy and unconcentrated manner.

Tiago did not travel as he is suspended. Godin, Filipe Luis, Falcao, Arda Turan and Gabi have also been left behind. So it isn't going to be a first choice line-up, hence why their price is rising. The squad for the game is as follows; GK: 1 – Sergio Asenjo 13 – Courtois DEFENCE: 12 – Pulido 15 – Cisma 17 – Silvio 18 – Cata Díaz 20 - Juanfran 23 – Miranda 26 - Manquillo MIDFIELD: 4 – Mario Suárez 6 – Koke 8 – Raúl García 11 – Cristian Rodríguez 21 - Emre 28 - Saúl FORWARDS: 7 – Adrián 19 – Diego Costa 38 - Pedro

Re: Europa League > September 20 Then, Atletico are out of consideration. However, why not back in some way Apoel?!! They are usually very good at home. And they will be surely motivated as hell to take the scalp of one of the teams in hottest shape in Europe at the moment. I don't see how second-choice players with relatively little playing experience will get a victory at such difficult home soil. Maybe double chance "Apoel or Draw" is the way to go here?!

Re: Europa League > September 20 By the way, had nobody really mentioned yet this one: Udinese - Anji ? One of the big favorites for the trophy this year and a team in an absolutely outstanding form and spirit at the moment - Anji, is playing against a team in a very deteriorating form and totally down-spirited after they did not manage once again to qualify for the CL! Seriously, the motivation of Udinese is the least to say questionable. I expect very low attendance tomorrow which will add to the dark nuances in Udinese's mood. On the other hand they face a team who will surely try to get as far as possible in the tournament. I read that the excitement in Mahachkala about the European participation of the team is great. The people there even sent a petition to UEFA to allow them to play at their home ground. Already two Russian teams won the Europa League the last few years. Anji have good prospects of being the third one. They were very balanced, fancy scoring goals and are not bothered at all when they have to play away from home as their record this season shows. I feel that they can win this one with a handicap, but straight victory should be enough. Anji @ 2.40 (b365)

I was looking at this one too, and about to write a post. 29/20 at William Hill looks good, considering their rich vein of form (5 wins in a row) in comparison to a poor Udinese side that haven't won a competitive game all season...also throw into the mix Anzhi beat a decent AZ Alkmaar outfit 5-0 away to get to this stage, the same AZ side that beat Udinese 2-0 in last seasons Europa League. Also, Anzhi won't be fazed by the travelling, as they fly to their home games from Moscow and also fly to far flung corners of Russia for standard league games.

Thanks for the team news guys. I still think Athletico's 2nd string side will be too much for the Israelis, even if it's just a 1-0 / 2-1 win, so i'll take the odds. Wish me luck!

Re: Europa League > September 20 Udinese v Anzhi Makhachkala Looks to be a bit of value on Anzhi here, Udinese have started the season poorly with only one point so far and went out of the CL to Braga on penalties which was a bit of a shock. Francesco Guidolin has said he is unlikely to make too many changes but he will decide late on and Di Natale will likely start from the bench, goalkeeper Brkic is also out. Anzhi have signed a host of players and it seems to be paying dividends, Hiddink has Eto, Diarra, Boussoufa, Zhirkov, Traore all at his disposal. They have started the season very well lying third in the Russian league and their record in the Europa League is flawless with 5 victories and not a goal conceded. I watched a couple of their games and I think the signing of Diarra is crucial as it will add a bit of quality in the central midfield they seemed to be lacking for me, Traore is a bit of a giant up front and will score goals although Eto is the main man and still a class act. Regular goalkeeper Gabulov is missing with concussion and was left in Russia, otherwise they are at full strength. Udinese are under a bit of pressure to get their first win and this isn't an ideal game for them, Anzhi have played strong line-ups in all their games so far I don't expect that to change for this one. I wouldn't fancy backing Anzhi straight up, they have little european experience as a team and its never easy to get a win in Italy, I don't see them losing though and I'm happy to back them at 1.8 with draw cover. Anzhi DNB - 1.8 - coral - 2.5 Points

Re: Europa League > September 20 4pts Maritimo vs Newcastle - Under 2.5 goals 4/6 Blue Square I’ve no idea why managers spend 38 matches slugging their guts out to qualify for Europe and then when they get there they play the reserves but that is what Alan Pardew is doing and it is hard to see them winning the game with that approach. Maritimo don’t concede many goals but they don’t score many either whereas Newcastle lack a general world class goal threat in this match but are still generally tight at the back so the best bet here looks to be under 2.5 goals. Re: Europa League > September 20 4pts Young Boys to beat Liverpool 19/20 William Hill When Liverpool rested their star players at Hearts in the last round they were woeful and you wouldn’t expect much different in this match either. The question then becomes are Young Boys better than Hearts and the answer is probably yes so I would expect the Swiss side to be the dominant side in the match. I don’t quite have the confidence in them to pull the trigger on them to win outright but with Liverpool having little in the way of threat in their side I think the home side are worth a punt on the draw no bet market. Re: Europa League > September 20 3pts Lazio to beat Tottenham 7/2 BetVictor How Spurs are odds on against a side like Lazio when they are taking the game seriously I’ve no idea but when they are being quite open about making changes Spurs at odds on is almost insane. I think the Italians have to be the bet in this match. They are well drilled, going well in Serie A and have a couple of potent strikers and at 7/2 there’s little doubt in my mind that the value lies with them in this Europa League game.
