Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 Friday TV preview: 4pts Luton to beat Hyde 5/6 Betfred Hyde are widely tipped to struggle this season and anything they get out of matches like this will be a bonus. Luton look better equipped to play three matches in six days which both these sides will be doing here and although I’m not a huge fan of betting on away sides at odds on I expect Luton to have what it takes to win this match. Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 Spread punters on our game tomorrow night could do a lot worse than have a small buy of JJ O'Donnell's goal minutes. It can be bought at 6 with Spreadex and I really think he will notch sooner or later. The longer the game went on against Kidderminster the other night the better he got and in each game he's forced a keeper into a good save from distance. The longer this match goes on the heavier the legs will get particularly on the Hyde players who must surely struggle to see out three games in six days especially at the pace which we can play at when we're on song. O'Donnell has young legs and should be at the same level at the end of the game as he is at the start of the game. Buckle is a big fan of O'Donnell and even though O'Donnell is young Buckle hasn't been afraid to give him lots of responsibility in the middle of the park. At some point in the night he'll get into the box and if he can show a bit of composure and produce the finish there could be a big make up on what is effectively a small downside were he not to score.

I think I made more money opposing Luton away than any other team in any league last season. Eleven times they were favorites away to a dog fetching better than 4.00: Won @ Tamworth, Telford, Kettering Lost @ Barrow, Braintree Drew @ Lincoln, Gateshead, Southport, Alfreton, Ebbsfleet, Bath Playing on the draw, I did very well. I also caught them with a couple low-scoring draws at home, though they actually fared quite well as a huge public home favorite, 14-3-3. Although my Conference draw strategy took a 0-5 hit Tuesday (the late goal by Stockport was a killer), the first three weeks over the past four years have turned up a large number of draws in these mismatch games. League-wide during the past three seasons, home dogs of between roughly 3.7 and 5.99 have gone 31-42-56...during weeks one to three, the tally is 11-21-17.

That was last season. Luton are a much different team this season. I'd be very surprised if Luton don't win tonight, even more so when you factor in that it will be the third game in six days for both sides.

Looking at Ebsfleet vs Wrexham It's a Wrexham win I think now they will show they mean business in this league match. Losing to M-field last time came as a shocker, this team last season was very impressive they still have most of their good players too, It's hard to bet against Wrexham in this case. Plus I Tip Wrexham to win the Blue SQ title too.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 4 bets for me this weekend and Im pleased to say back to the full previews as well. Alfreton v Hereford I backed the home side on Tuesday and after seeing them take the lead three times before Southport scored the final equaliser in injury time, I was pretty frustrated not to collect. The positive though was that they scored three goals as in their first game against Stockport they created enough chances to win but failed to find the back of the net. I believe Alfreton will be a solid mid-table side this season, as will Hereford, which means I have to back Alfreton at 2/1 with Stan James and BetVictor. Hereford got off to a good start by beating Macclesfield, but ended up being held to a draw by Tamworth on Tuesday after being two goals up. Granted they went down to ten men in the first half, but even so you would still hope to see the game out against a side like Tamworth. Hereford are certainly being priced up on the fact they were in the Football League last season and that means a rather generous offer about a home win. Grimsby v Nuneaton I have opposed Nuneaton in both games so far, which has proved a profitable strategy. At this stage of the season, l with little form to go on, you have to stick with how you think sides will perform over the season and I am of the belief that Nuneaton will be doing very well to stay up. Indeed they are reminding me of how Alfreton were at the start of last term when they really struggled to get used to life in the BSP. They have conceded nine goals in two games so far and it is clear that they are being outclassed at the back. They did score four against Ebbsfleet but were kept quiet by a better Newport side and now head to one of the promotion favourites Grimsby. Grimsby haven’t got off to the best of starts either, conceding a last minute equaliser to Southport and losing to Stockport again in the final minute after being a goal up. They could easily have six points at the moment instead of the one they do show. However this game looks perfect to gain the crucial first victory of the season and if Nuneaton’s defence are feeling generous again (no reason to suggest they won’t be) I can see Grimsby covering the goal deficit on the handicap which is 13/8 with Paddy Power. Newport v Lincoln The home side have got off to a cracking start, beating Mansfield and Nuneaton, scoring four goals in both games. Tuesday saw their first game at their new ground and it was no surprise to see them perform better on a decent pitch in front of a big crowd. Obviously Nuneaton wasn’t too much of a test, but you can do no more than win easily and the result at Mansfield is obviously eye-catching. Lincoln have been showing plenty of fight in their two games so far, beating Kidderminster and then just losing to Cambridge United on Tuesday. Battling hard will only get you so far though and I still think they lack the quality to do well in this division and with Newport flying high at the moment, I think they will be able to pick up a hat-trick of victories. Coral are best priced at even money. Woking v Barrow Final bet in the BSP on Saturday is Woking. I put them up as a value pick last weekend against Wrexham and they performed with credit despite losing 3-1. They were made to work hard on Tuesday night as they edged past Dartford 1-0 but I suspect Dartford were out to prove a point after finishing second to them in the Blue Square South last term. I don’t expect Barrow to be up for it like Dartford were and it speaks volumes that they have yet to score a goal this season. They really struggled in the final couple of months last year and look very light weight up front. On the plus side they have yet to concede a goal, but I think Woking have the quality to break them down and I expect they will finish higher in the league. Also Barrow have always been bad travellers since they came into this league. Interestingly Blue Square are 10/11 about a home win whereas 5/4 is freely available elsewhere. They clearly don’t want to lay them and I don’t blame them.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 I have also backed Alfreton last round as you Addpea, and got really frustrated with this roller coaster 1-0 --> 1-1 --> 2-1 --> 2-2 --> 3-2 --> [3-3 injury time] . I agree that Alfreton might be a solid mid-table team but I am not a big fan of taking them versus Hereford on home ground. They are hungry for wins, because they played very well in both games this season and did not win any, but home advantage in early rounds in Conference League seems not to be very big, so this time I focus on AWAY teams only as I am sure we will see lots of "surprises" this round. First bet for this round is for me Mansfield (+0.25) 1.85. This is very important game both for them and Kidderminster - they are obviously solid teams that surpisingly have not got a point yet! First I think Mansfield is slight better team, second I think bookmakers lowered price for Kidderminster too much because of home advantage. This might be a very competetive, open game with many goals. Mansfield lost only 4 of 23 away games last season. I strongly feel they not gonna lose tommorow. The other bet is Braintree (0) 2.01. Telford have not impressed me this season and it seems they will fight to avoid relegation zone again. Braintree was impressive in last game, having won the away game versus Ebbsfleet -they had 16 shots versus 7 shots of the hosts. They lost only 6 away games last season and I feel they wont lose this one too, however draw is probable in what case I get my stake back.

In my database of large public favorites (Luton does not quite make it; they're getting 85% of bets at the sites I've seen, rather than 90%, which is my threshold), there have been 11 games in Conference with a favorite at -0.5 getting at least 90% of bets, with a 50-bet minimum. Dogs covered 7 of those 11.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 Matty Blinkhorn straight into the starting XI tonight for Hyde. Jevons and Spencer start, too - which suggests a 4-3-3 (I'm pretty sure they've been 4-4-2 thus far this season). Should be pretty open, especially as Andrew Pearson is still suspended. That's commendably punchy. Barrow had plenty of the ball on Tuesday but didn't act on it but I don't expect Luton to be as wasteful tonight and I've sold the time of the 2nd Luton goal at 71 with Spreadex.

Sublime shout, kevshat. A perfect call! Glad I followed, even though I had to buy a notch higher at Spreadex as I only the saw the posting this afternoon. Brilliant stuff.

Seems like kev was spot on about the fitness edge. I've not seen the game yet but the tweets I've seen suggest that was the only difference between the 2 sides. I'm sure Hyde will get the win they deserve soon enough. Amazingly blue square have cut luton into 15/8 after the win tonight. If they cut the price every time they win a game they will be odds on in a month! Sent from my HTC Desire S using PL Forum

Still on the M6 on the way home after there was an incident on the M56 but the journey feels a lot better with a big profit on that spread bet and of course the Luton win!! I think we will win, too. Having watched the highlights on our site (and I know the guy who puts them up and he makes sure they properly reflect the game) we had more than enough chances to win, with shots and headers just going the wrong side or assorted bits of woodwork. Macc scored with two headers from set pieces, one where no one was on the near post for some inexplicable reason. We passed the ball well and I really don't see us missing as many chances again.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 Newport v Lincoln C. Newport have started well and as addpea says Lincoln do lack a bit of quality. Nevertheless I'm not entirely convinced with what is going on at Newport at the moment especially behind the scenes with the chairman virtually driven out by the fans. Two wins against two slow starters does not impress me that much and Lincoln ran a decent Cambridge side that I saw at FGR last Saturday close on Tuesday. I got Lincoln +1 at 5/6 with Stan James, I think thats a fair shout.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 Only time for one spread this weekend: a low-risk sell of the time of Braintree's 2nd goal at 78 with Sporting. Telford have defensively okay but they have a few team issues and I think Braintree have looked sparkier going forward than might have been expected. Though they too must make do with absentees, they have bagged Michael Gash on loan.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 17-18 Good solid start to the season proper with 2 of the tips winning here and 3 winning in the other thread. Grimsby by all accounts were shocking today and if they cant beat a club who have let in 9 goals in two games then they clearly still need plenty of work.
