BBOTD 27th of August

Recommended Posts

Breathless Kiss - Beverley 3:35 I like Kevin Ryan and i am going to stick with him for a while... This horse is out of form but is a course and distance winner and is a winner over the trip 5 times. Interestingly it has only ever run at Beverley once before and on that occasion it won , winning a very competitive handicap beating 16 other horses and interestingly had the favourite for tomorrows race, Duchess Dora, behind in 9th that day. Philip Makin has a good record on the horse, 2 wins and 1 place from 6 rides. Will come back to form soon, hope its tomorrow. WIN @ 25/1 Hills BOG

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 3.50 Goodwood Castles In The Air 18/1 e/w Coral Very tricky race to try and find the winner of but I like Castles In The Air here, who travelled very sweetly last time out, staying on into 7th behind Bronze Prince. I think if Hanagan can get this horse into a better race position today, then he will be much closer to make his challenge. He is now 2lbs lower than when winning last year at Ascot, and could be ready to strike again. This horse can be ridden from the front or held up so it will be interesting which tactics Hanagan adopts from stall 12.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 3.20 Goodwood: Dubawi Gold 1pt win @ 5/1 Ladbrokes BOG Think this is a great price for this horse - has some top class group 1 form in the book and if able to recapture best would go very close. Poets Voice the obvious one but has questions to answer here especially returning after a layoff. Richard Hughes been quite bullish about the chances of this horse here and at 5/1 think represents the value of the race.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 3:35 Beverley - Captain Dunne 1pt win at 6/1 (Boyles) Has been in absolutely terrific form this year. Went down a nose to Inxile at Longchamp in a group three and then went one better in the Epsom Dash defying top weight and a mark of 105. Was last seen when running a belter in the Nunthorpe, though probably had his run of the race in fairness. Still, in this company, with some animals of similar ability conceding weight to him, I feel he has a great chance and should be a couple of points shorter.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 415 Cartmel: Viva Colonia 1pt (5/1 WH) Won a very competative race at Market Rasen last time out and has been raised 8lbs which is fair enough. I dont think this race is as strong as that one and he should follow up. He his a strong traveller in his races and this race will be run at a furious pace, he also stays well so should be able to pick them off coming round the last bend into the straight. Fujin Dancer looks layed out for this race from the Ellison yard and is the danger off a fair weight.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 3.35 Beverley Captain Dunne doesnt have the best of draws here but is a very speedy horse who may be able to get to the front early. If that happens he will be very hard to pass on this course which heavily favours front runners.Stable in tip top form and IMO is the best horse in the race and may vie for favouritism. 1 Pt win 5/1 Corals

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 2:30 Newmarket - Samitar - Back It says it all when he's 11/10 in such a big field and in a race full of horses with potential. He was outstanding at Royal Ascot when romping away in the mud, so clearly the cut in the ground will not pose any problems. He's been strongly backed already and I'm keen to get on whilst he's still odds against as the way it's going, that might not last 1pt win @ 11/10 William Hill BOG

Re: BBOTD 27th of August Redcar 7:55 - Saxby This 4yo had a mark of 76 as a 2yo and is now 47. It will be his second run out for his new trainer, Alan Lockwood, who also now has ownership. It will also be second time visor for the gelding and the headgear has shown an improvement in the past. There is a good 7lb apprentice in George Challoner on board, which adds a slight advantage. 22/1 blue sq (bog) - win

Re: BBOTD 27th of August Windsor 6.40 DUX SCHOLAR to win 100/30 Bluesq It's been a fantastic year for 3 year olds, and this one can continue flying the flag against the older generation. Ran well lto but the trip caught him out, back over a furlong further today and that can only be a positive. Has performed with cut in the ground last time and with a handy weight allowance, may just nick this one :hope

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 6.40 Windsor - 1pt win Mahbooba @ 20/1 (BlueSQ) Mahbooba is a talented filly who was racing in some big races over in Dubai earlier this year. She was very useful at 7/8f and despite not looking quite so classy over this 10f trip, should find races at the distance. She was twice behind the very good Khawlah over in Meydan including when 3rd in the UAE derby. She came over to these shores for a race at Newmarket in August. She may well have needed the run 5 months after her last run in Dubai, and ran well enough under difficult circumstances. The race was a small field, and she was fitted with blinkers. She was lit up by these, and ended up racing alone having tanked through to lead after being keen early. She was still there challenging before getting outrun late on by two smart horses in French Navy and Joshua Tree. It was a sound effort, and with that under her belt, with blinkers discarded, and with a true pace likely here with the likes of Distant Memories in the field, can run a big race.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August W6.40 Distant Memories 0.5pt E/W Having just watched the previous race at Windsor, it looked like many of the horses (including the red hot favourite) didn't handle the conditions. The selection has arguably some of the best form of these when the going is riding soft and is the only course and distance winner in the field (winning the race last year). The horse is a decent price partly because there are fancied horses from more fashionable stables at the head of the market and at around 14/1 this looks like a good e/w bet.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August Redcar 7.55 - tahitian princess - win at 8/1 bog bet365 Poor sprint handicap here with lots of non runners because the ground has changed to 'soft' Still a big field though with 15 runners left in as of now - this hopefully will ensure a decent pace which will suit my horse as she stays further than 6f. She also goes on soft ground and has been getting closer to the winner in each of her last 3 runs The current fave is Hambleton who is a cd winner but disappointed on soft ground last time.

Re: BBOTD 27th of August 7.25 Redcar - Commander Veejay win 9/1 betfred Returns to the flat after outing in a nh race 7days ago Still a maiden after 13 attempts with only 2 places but has shown some ability to have placed twice in its career to date and although those were on Gd frm was way off the leaders and imo is better on soft ground judging by losing distances. Julie Burke takes 5lbs off and last time at 2m with ground conditions was only 4l behind off 45 and racing off only 40 gives it a good chance.
