PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour - next up - Grand Final - Birmingham

Just a heads-up on PokerPlayer's new live tour. It's five legs, £110 buy-in, limited seats and a load of good value online qualifiers. Direct buy-ins will only be allowed after all the online sats are finished so you might miss out if you don't win a seat online. Should be a good craic these events with some chunky prize pools. http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/f17/pokerplayer-uk-tour-qualifiers-gala-casinos-10-13-17-20-march-113995/ http://www.pokerplayer.co.uk/community/ppoc/11317/pokerplayer_uk_tour.html

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour

Does any one think, there could be a chance to by in on the day? Would be tempted to go.
Was at the casino last Friday, guy at my table said he bought into the event that night so could be worth giving them a ring,(good luck half the time they don,t no their ass from their elbow their!) if not think their will a option to buy-in direct from their online site:ok.

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour Hi, You were registered for the PokerPlayer UK Tour Freeroll qualifier that took place last night and are probably aware that it started an hour before its advertised start time and this may have caused you to miss some of the tournament. We understand that this could have been an inconvenience and due to this have decided to rerun the qualifier this evening. The details are the same as the tournament that took place last night and was previously advertised in PokerPlayer magazine. It will start at 20:30 tonight and will have 20 tickets into the PokerPlayer $22 Online Final as prizes. The Password is: ********** Once again we apologise for the inconvenience caused. Good luck and kind regards, Philip Harper Duty Poker Manager

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour

It was great to meet goater, Bart and Debbie (Quasar) :nana. Nice to see DaMatrix and Slapdash and Spitvenom :ok. Pretty fast format, so few quick exits including me and Washy :\.
Good to meet you too, and I also spotted Bart just as I was walking out the card room, so managed a very quick hello to him too, which was nice. :) I was also another fairly quick exit, but this was due to my poor play rather than bad beats. I have decided the deep stacks with slower structures suit my game better. This was a bit of a turbo for me haha.

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour Yes, it was really great meeting you all, such great people and really enjoyed your company. Hope to see you all again at other events soon. I too bust early, shortly after dinner break in approx 91st from 124 starters. Pretty much card dead but was on a fairly solid table so still should have done better. Went out with AT defending my BB against the SB who consistently min-raised my blind. Had approx 10bb left, shoved which was insta-called and his AJ held, fair enough, no complaints there, money always going in. Spit appeared to be in the middle of one of those epic comebacks that he's well known for when I left, awesome stuff. Hoping to hear that one of the 2 or 3 remaining PL'ers shipped it today :hope

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour Great to meet everyone at long last! Had hen and slapdash on my table and also a bounty with a prize of a table cloth for knocking him out:unsure. Pretty standard exit down to 11 bigs and called another short stack shove with pk 10,s (he had AJ) only for another player to wake up with aces.

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour Yes, that was fun. As Goater said, he, Hen and I were on the same table, which was pretty jolly apart from Walter Whingehead who was sat between Hen and me. The bounty was a guy sponsored by Coral, who I think got good value from him; he was talkative in a very friendly way. I can't complain about my luck in the earlier stages, especially when my 66 cracked AA. I eventually went out shortly after it got down to 3 tables, so about 28th? Spitvenom was still in, but with only about 6xBB. I hope he made something of them :hope. Nice to meet everybody.

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour Was good to see some old faces and a couple of new ones too! I managed to get up to around a 40k stack at one point, but after being card dead for some time I had to try for the double up. Was hard to get em in as someone always seemed to get in before you! Finally I picked up 33, not great but something and open shoved for 27.5k (Blinds were 2-4k by then with a ante of 400) Thought I would get this through as I'd pretty much only showed down the goods. However the Big stack at the table decided to call me with 87. I looked good for the 60k+ pot when the flop came 24Q, but as fate would have it a 7 on turn and river gave him the chips and sent me to the rail! The payouts were agreed down to 15 and so I just managed to creep in to the cash at 14th for £160 :ok Speaking to some of the pplayer guys after and they have promised to revise the levels and structure for the subsequent legs so its not such a shovefest. With 3 tables left I think the average was 32k but the blinds were 1500-3000 w/ante 300 so the average player had only roughly 10bb. All in all very enjoyable and nice to cover my expenses :cheers
