I've had the modest amount allowed on >7 own goals in the tournament at 12/5 with 365.
    >6 can be backed at evens with Sky Bet and total own goals can be bought at 6.5 with the spread firms. I'm still mulling over taking one of those options.
There were 12 own goals at the last World Cup and 11 at the last Euros (only 51 games as opposed to 64 in the World Cup). At the previous 3 World Cups there were only 5, 2 and 4.
You can take the view that those 2 recent high totals are a blip or that they're evidence of an upward trend (maybe a bit of both). The UEFA technical report for Euro 2020 suggests that "one of the most marked trends in terms of goalscoring" was low crosses or cut backs being turned into their own net by a defender. It observes that "when the ball is outside of the goalkeeper's reach, nine times out of ten it is a goal" where the ball is delivered at such high speed that it will go in whoever touches it.
We might not see double figures again but, at the odds, I think it's worth taking a chance that there are 7 or 8+.

    Newcastle United vs Chelsea
Newcastle United is hoping to win again following a 4-1 Premier League success versus Southampton. It was their fifth straight success that launched them to 3rd place. The Magpies' most recent results shine a light on the fact that much respect should be given to the Newcastle United rearguard. Newcastle United have been miserly, with the number of goals that have gone past their goalkeeper during their past six clashes standing at 3. The hosts are full of confidence, and they want to secure another positive result against a very strong opponent.
After a losing effort in their last game against Arsenal in Premier League action, Chelsea and their fans will hope to get a better result this time. The Blues cannot be happy with their recent form, as they lost to Manchester City in the EL Cup during mid-week. The stats tell the story, and Chelsea has been scored against in 5 of their last six matches, seeing their opponents hit eight goals in total. At the back, Chelsea has clearly had some problems. Chelsea manager Graham Potter has some current player fitness concerns. N'Golo Kanté (Hamstring Injury), Wesley Fofana (Knee Injury), Ben Chilwell (Hamstring Injury), and Reece James (Knee Injury) will miss out on this game.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Newcastle United has been playing much better than their opponents recently, and they want to capitalize on the opponent’s poor form. It should be a terrific match, and we think the hosts can remain undefeated.
    Goals Market Prediction
It should be an entertaining clash since Chelsea need to go for some points, too. Therefore, we believe the crowd at St. James’ Park will enjoy at least three goals in total.

    Manchester City vs Brentford
Manchester City is hoping to win again following the 2-1 Premier League victory vs Fulham. It was their third straight win in the English top flight before beating Chelsea in the EFL Cup during mid-week. Their most recent results really do illustrate the point that much respect should be given to the Manchester City defense. The Citizens have given the opposition little, resulting in the number of goals that have gone past their goalkeeper during their last six outings standing at 4. Another victory would see the defending champions climb to the top spot, at least before Arsenal plays its game against Wolves.
Brentford drew 2-2 in the Premier League match with Nottingham Forest in their previous game. The Bees currently sit in the middle of the table, but they are not too far from the relegation zone. Thomas Frank's Brentford has slotted home six times throughout their most recent six matches. The overall goals that have been scored against them during those same matches add up to 12. Coming into this meeting, Brentford has not won away from home in their last four games in the league. In an otherwise healthy group of players, there is only the sole fitness worry for the Brentford boss Thomas Frank to be concerned with. Aaron Hickey (Ankle Injury) misses out for this game.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Manchester City is full of confidence, and the defending champions should have rested their main players. Although Brentford is a team with the highest number of draws in the Premier League, we don’t think they will hold the Citizens. The hosts should celebrate a comfortable win on Saturday afternoon.
    Goals Market Prediction
Both teams have participated in many high-scoring matches this season, and that trend should continue. Brentford has been quite productive so far, and we won’t be surprised if they find a way to the opponent’s net.

Arsenal is looking for their 12th win this season, with the world cup only a week away, most of their key players may not feature for the full game, therefore, do be so blind to back on a high goals encounter.

The trio of Kieran Trippier, Gabriel, and Mohamed Salah helped him accumulate that points total. His lead is only 1 point ahead of Molla Puckman's Sandkings who relinquish top spot.
Congratulations go to Eric Koech and his Fixtures team who earned the Manager of the Week award. His decision to field a 5-man midfield that notched up 50 points by themselves. Not a bad return. Only Gabriel Martinelli and Fabian Schar gained less than 5 points in his team this week which is impressive.

Chesterfield v Northampton These two sides are both 3rd in the table, but all the money has been for the National League side which does surprise me a bit. I certainly think Chesterfield are capable of pulling off a victory, but Northampton are just too big a price for me. We only have to look at how Stockport and Grimsby are doing to know that there is a bit of a gap in class between the two divisions so I just can't make Northampton as big a price as they are. I know they have only won 1 game in 6, but that was against Stevenage and they have only lost 3 games in the league all season. Away from home Northampton have only lost at Walsall and they have played some tough games. Chesterfield are over their little wobble now and had a very easy night against Gateshead on Tuesday. The thing is though they will play league games at home to teams who are priced up at 9/4 so for that to be the price of the team who are 3rd in the league above just has to be taken.   Woking v Oxford United (Sunday) Usually I like backing the underdogs at big prices to cause an upset and have a good record over the years, but this round and the prices on offer makes it very tough on that front. South Shields, Fylde, Chelmsford and Weymouth were all teams I were thinking about backing, but the prices on them are too short for me to take. There certainly seems to be a move for bookies to offer shorter odds on the underdogs. Alvechurch are the same price to beat Cheltenham as Oldham are to beat Wrexham. Now I don't think either will, but how can those two things be the same price as each other. Anyway the one Non-League side I will be backing is Woking who I think do have a chance of beating League 1 Oxford. Woking have been very strong at home all season and they do look a side capable of being in the play-offs. They strike me as the sort of side who can cause an upset in a one off game and Oxford aren't doing that well in League 1 this season.   Bracknell v Ipswich (Monday night ITV4) Bracknell won promotion last season to Step 3 of Non-League football and although they are in 11th place at the moment it is a little misleading as they have only played 12 league games and have actually only lost twice. As much as it would be great if we saw an upset the gulf in class between these two sides is huge as Ipswich are currently 2nd in League 1 having only lost twice. They have managed to score 35 league goals and their xG's in their last 3 games have been 2.24, 2.34 and 2.54. If they are recording those sort of figures against other League 1 sides then they are likely to be much higher on Monday night. At this stage last season we saw two sides from Bracknell's level appear on TV. Banbury hosted League 2 Barrow and lost 4-0 and Stratford hosted League 1 Shrewsbury and lost 5-1. The non TV games involving teams from their level were on the whole much closer affairs and I certainly think there is something in the League side not wanting to be embarrassed and on the end of an upset live on TV. Ipswich really should be covering the -2 handicap.   FA Cup Acca As usual at this stage I put up a short price acca with teams who I think look bankers. The bet features 7 teams. Burton to beat Needham Market, Cheltenham to beat Alvechurch, Charlton to beat Coalville, Lincoln to beat Chippenham, MK Dons to beat Taunton, Derby to beat Torquay and Ipswich to beat Bracknell.    Northampton 1pt @ 5/2 with Bet365 (their 2 goals up offer comes into play in the FA Cup games and take up to 6/4) Woking 1pt @ 9/2 with Bet365 (take up to 100/30) Ipswich -2 2.5pts @ 5/4 with Bet365 Burton, Cheltenham, Charlton, Lincoln, MK Dons, Derby and Ipswich 1pt acca @ 5.79/1 with Bet365

Looking at the totals markets on offer so far I was drawn to the 8/15 offered by Sky Bet for >1.5 matches to go to penalties and, to a slightly lesser extent, the 4/7 for >3.5 matches to go to extra time. I usually bet on the draw and penalties once we get to the KO rounds of International tournaments and I couldn't decide whether to bet on a match by match basis or have a decent bet on one or both of those lines.
Whilst I think both of those prices are generous they're still relatively short and would require a fairly decent stake to make a bet worthwhile. So far I've just had modest bets on:
4-5 matches to go to penalties at 11/2 and 6+ at 28/1
I make it that there have been 4 shootouts at each of the last 2 World Cups and Euros. There were only 2 in 2010 but there were 4 in 2006. There were only 2 in the previous Euros but that was from just 7 KO ties rather than 15 as is now the case.
I might regret not just going for the >1.5 line but I think the prices are generous either way.

Very interesting there, Harry. I know Nottingham Forest are being tipped to finish bottom but I think bottom spot is more open than they appreciate because Steve Cooper is a class manager and they're getting better every week. Could Leeds be the team that drops to the bottom? 100 points is very tempting.

19 to buy on SPIN’s relegation index. 100 points for bottom then 75, 50, 33, 20 and 10 for 6th from bottom, 0 if not in the bottom 6. So a profit for bottom 5 and the lower the better, max risk 19 x stake.

The Premier League relegation battle is always one of the most intriguing parts of the top division. This season is no exception. A host of teams are fighting for their lives in the top flight of English football. Some of the teams involved are ones we expected to suffer from pre-season but other teams are a little more on the surprising side. One team that was tipped to struggle this season was Leeds. Despite a positive start to the season, the Whites have started to slide back down the table but has a shock win at Liverpool changed all that?
It was all smiles and butterflies around the Yorkshire at the beginning of this league campaign as Jesse Marsch saw his team go their first 3 league games of the season unbeaten. The summer signings of Brendan Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, and Tyler Adams impressed. An opening weekend 2-1 win over Wolves was followed by a riveting 2-2 draw away to Southampton and then a resounding 3-0 victory at home to Chelsea. The club was flying high and all the doubters from the off-season had been silenced.
Unfortunately, the 3-1 home win over local rivals Barnsley in the EFL Cup 2nd Round on 24th August would be the last time Leeds would taste victory for a long while. A staggering run of 8 league matches followed without a win and the Peacocks slowly dropped down the Premier League table. Failure to score in 50% of those games suggested where the heart of the problem rested. Spanish striker Rodrigo had looked like being a potential saviour but his 6 league goals simply haven't been enough.
However, out of the blue, on a cold autumnal Saturday evening in October, something incredible happened. Leeds went to Anfield and played a Liverpool team that had not been defeated in their previous 29 home league matches. Rodrigo stunned the home crowd by giving the away team a lead in the 4th minute but when Mohamed Salah equalised just 10 minutes later there was a feeling of impending doom amongst the travelling fans. Still, Leeds kept battling and then, when a superb draw seemed on the cards, attacker Crysencio Summerville popped up with an 89th minute winner.
It's amazing what one result can do in football. A Leeds team that had been looking like strong candidates for relegation in freefall with their manager Marsch becoming a favourite for the sack with bookies were now being offered at longer odds to go down and Ralph Hasenhuttl had now replaced Marsch as the bookies favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave their post.
Is it all a little temporary though? Leeds face Bournemouth at home and then Tottenham away before the break for the World Cup. Lose both of those games and Leeds could potentially drop back into the bottom three. Suddenly, the pressure cranks right back up on Marsch again. Manchester City, Newcastle, and West Ham await Leeds over the festive period so it feels like their odds for being relegated could start to shorten again as we head into 2023. Now could very much be a good time to catch their price whilst it's as it is before the odds begin to drop.

My mate was at Madison Square Gardens last night for the Philadelphia Flyers at New York Rangers game. A tight 1-0 win for the home team! In complete contrast, the Bruins stormed to another win but required over-time to make it happen with a 6-5 win at the Pittsburgh Penguins. I'm definitely getting the excitement levels up now! Both the Flyers and Penguins have a chance to bounce back tonight. Not sure the Flyers will do it away to Toronto Maple Leafs but there's a chance the Penguins could hit back against the Buffalo Sabres. Although how will over-time last night and the travel to the Sabres impact them? The Maple Leafs and Penguins double is 1.5/1 so not sure there's enough value in that for me to look at it.

The Capitals play away at the Carolina Hurricanes. The Capitals are coming off a decent 3-0 on the road victory at the Nashville Predators, which will boost their confidence ahead of this tougher assignment against Carolina.
The Hurricanes are coming off a tough overtime victory away at the Philadelphia Flyers and have slipped up at home recently losing 6-2 to the New York Islanders tiring late on in the final period which I am looking at preferably repeating here in tonight's game.

Molla Puckman sits on top of the tree with their Sandkings team with last week's leader @StevenKing seeing his warning hazchem side drop all the way down to 15th place. A week is a long time in fantasy football it would seem! It just goes to show how tightly congested this league has become! Captaining Kevin De Bruyne proved the masterstroke for Molla with the Belgian midfielder picking up 22 points of the team's 79 points this week.
Congratulations to Punters Lounge's very own @Fader who bagged the Manager of the Week award as his team tallied up 87 points. Erling Haaland being injured meant it was Fade X-Ones' Miguel Almiron who took on the captaincy and earned 24 points because of it. Possessing three players in the Team of the Week also helped.
The name of shame this week goes to @Zidane123's Manchester United 77. Just the 28 points this week which has seen his team drop down to just one place off the very bottom of the table. The fans are allegedly protesting outside the ground before the next home game so changes are needed! Only Ederson, Ivan Perisic, and Darwin Nunez scored more than 2 points for the team this week in a tough round!

New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs in a 3/1 double is tempting but with both teams on the road it's always a bit riskier. I have a mate who is a Rangers fan and he never has the confidence to back them on their travels.
