    The artificial pitch at Livingston is the worst playing surface I've ever seen, it's virtually impossible to run with the ball at feet and some really weird bounces, it won't suit Rangers' ball players at all but it suits Livingston perfectly, they're a very physical, direct side. Rangers could struggle here.

    St Mirren v Hibernian, Edinburgh City v Cowdenbeath.
    It's a little bit lazy of me I know but I'm going to stick with the 2 teams that have made me a few quid the last couple of weeks, I see no reason at all why they can't both win for the 3rd week in a row. The bookies have the odds for the single wins just about right I think but I'm very confident of the double, I think it could be a very comfortable afternoon for both sides.
    Hibs and Edinburgh City double @ 2.56.
    Hibs -1 and Edinburgh City -1 double @ 6.53.
    Kilmarnock v Motherwell.
    Kilmarnock are overpriced here, they're a side that plays football the right way, always looking to go forward and score goals. They should have too much for Motherwell here, the awful artificial pitch gives them a clear edge over the visitors.
    Kilmarnock @ 2.10 is a value bet.

    For the second week in a row, Hibs and Edinburgh City win the cash. I think I'll back them both again next week and I don't even know who they're playing yet

    Queens park manager gus McPherson away to st mirren. Edinburgh are on fire and don't concede many. Queen's struggle to score a lot of goals. 9/5 for Edinburgh is good value

    It's a difficult round of fixtures this weekend to find value (who mentioned Hearts? Nah, never heard of them) but I'll post up where my money is going today.
    Hibs v Kilmarnock
    Hibs haven't exactly got off to a great start this season but when you look at the players that have been missing then you can understand why. The spine of the team has been absent and it's forced Neil Lennon to play players in unfamiliar positions and it's shown in the performances so far.
    Centre half Darren MacGregor comes back from injury, we're always better at the back with him there. Australian international Mark Milligan has finally got his work visa and will step into the defensive mid position where we have been severely lacking since Marvin Bartleys' injury, this will allow Stevie Mallan to play further forward where he is far more effective, carries a real goal threat from the edge of the box. Star striker Florian Kamberi comes back from injury, his non stop style never gives the defenders any peace, fantastic at holding the ball up and bringing others into play, allows Martin Boyle to go back to right wing where he is far more effective. With these 3 players back, all of a sudden we look a very good side. There's a feeling round Easter Road way that the season starts now and at odds against the home win looks a good thing to me.
    Hibs @ 2.05.
    Edinburgh City v Annan Athletic.
    I mentioned at the start of the season that Edinburgh were much improved on last year and they've certainly got off to a good start, sitting top of the league. Last weeks win at Peterhead shows they can beat anyone in this league, if they carry that form into todays game, chances are they'll bag the 3 points.
    Edinburgh City @ 2.05.

    Hearts are now 2.50 which if you held me down and waterboarded me I might admit to being a bit of value. You'll never get me tipping that lot though, so I'd say this, Hearts aren't as good as the table suggests, they'll lose their 100% record sooner or later. If Motherwell play like they did last time out against Rangers then it could be sooner. I am of course completely unbiased.
    Livingston could be a shout, their horrendous artificial pitch gives them an undoubted advantage when they're at home, just like Kilmarnock when they're at home, but I'm not sure 1.91 has any value. Maybe one for an acca.
    I won't be betting on either of these games.

    I'm opposing you here, Steve. In my opinion the overwhelming value is with Spain, who up until the last couple of days were actually available to back as outsiders in this match. In the end I got on Spain @ 2.00 DNB with Betfair Sportsbook, although this price has since been cut.
    Spain are capable of playing a level of football that England simply cannot match. For my money, the performance against Portugal in Spain's opening World Cup match was the premier display of attacking verve and interchangeability of the entire tournament. Only Ronaldo's genius and a rare mishap by David de Gea thwarted them in that game. Admittedly, Spain struggled to break down Iran and Russia in the summer, the latter ultimately costing them a proper run at the trophy, but in both cases their opponents lacked any ambition beyond defending their own penalty area and hoping to capitalise on the odd set piece situation. Saturday's game will play out in a different manner and Spain will be hoping to exploit England's defensive frailties in the same way Croatia and Belgium made their umpteen chances in Russia.
    What we must take into account as we search for value in these prices is that six months ago, Spain would have been favourites around the evens mark or just higher. England's Benny Hill run to the semi-finals of the World Cup (Saudi Arabia managed as many shots on goal from open play) has distorted expectations in a manner not experienced since the Golden Generation. Lest we forget, in Russia, England lost more games than they've ever lost in a single major championship. The only nations they managed to defeat were a ragtag Tunisian team, a Panama side made up of saucer-eyed semi-professionals and a Sweden squad in transition having endured the retirement of their GOAT the previous summer.
    The idea that Gareth Southgate can somehow outthink Luis Enrique is bordering on the absurd. Southgate came very close to singlehandedly ensuring a second round exit against Colombia with his substitutions in extra time. He persisted in playing Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling out of position throughout the tournament; Walker's unease in his shoehorned centre-back position eventually bore its rotten fruit as Mandzukic nipped in to silence the Twitter memes. Sterling, meanwhile, spent the tournament toiling in a position he doesn't have the ability to play. England's trickiest player divested of the freedom to express his skill. Luis Enrique has a double and a treble in his oeuvre. Southgate relegated Middlesbrough. Make no mistake; this is a mismatch.

    Celtic v Rangers is always an early kick off in an attempt to reduce the drunken violence that blights the fixture, it works to an extent at the game but it leads to an all day drinking session all over the country, especially in the West. A & E departments are as busy as New Years Eve and arrests for domestic violence and common assaults go through the roof. It's absolute carnage.
    Also, Rangers weren't relegated. They were liquidated because of their debts, they ceased to exist. They formed as a new club and were allowed entry into the 4th tier of Scottish football, it should've been the bottom tier, the 7th. Everyone knows this is what happened, only Rangers, their fans and their media lapdogs spin the lies of relegation.
    Anyhow, onto todays Battle of the Bigots;
    Celtic look weaker than last season, for whatever reason they've not spent any money to strengthen over the summer and their fans are genuinely worried that their bitter rivals have caught up with them, Gerrard has been given a fortune to spend and it looks like he's spent it well, the Rangers squad looks like it has some real quality in there.
    Both teams to score looks like a good shout but If you're looking to back an outright result then the away win is where the value lies, with the form Celtic are in they shouldn't be as short as they are. However, I don't think Rangers can go to Parkhead and win, for reasons that you highlighted yourself, discipline.
    When you have a team full of players like Morelos, who just doesn't seem able to control himself and the complete and utter dickhead that is Kyle Lafferty ( the dicks' dick ) then the chances are you'll be short in numbers on the pitch and fighting an uphill battle. If Rangers can keep their discipline they can get at least a point here but my bet will be;
    Red Card in Match - Yes @ 2.50.

    I'll ignore the frankly libellous slurs on my good self and concentrate instead on the undoubted highlight of this weekend which is;
    Livingston v Hibernian.
    Hibs season so far feels a bit like it's not really got going yet, what with some key players leaving, new players still bedding into the squad and also a few injuries combined with Europa League games coming thick and fast, we've not started a game yet with our strongest first choice 11 and performances have been decent but inconsistent so far. With the Europa games now finished, I thought we showed signs of improvement in last weeks draw with Aberdeen, a game I thought we were unlucky not to win.
    Livingston are a difficult side to play and have started the season ok, winning last week against a poor St Mirren but I think Hibs have too much going forward for them to handle and if we play at last weeks level we should be winning this. Anything above 1.70 for the away win is value.
    Hibs @ 1.80 is my bet of the day.
    Stevie Mallan Anytime Scorer @ 3.40 just for fun.

    Salzburg home win 1.44? Wow!
    Crvena zvezda have good team and i don't really undrstand why are they so underrated. Unfortunately i didn't have time to write a preview of first leg,but i was absolutely sure we wouldn't lose it.

    As for the 2nd leg..
    Crvena zvezda has played so far in this season 11.official matches (both in Europe and domestic league) and it's still without defeat. In these matches we only conceded 3.goals. From the begining of the previous season and under new coach Vladan Milojevic we really made progress,not just at home ground but in away fixtures as well: vs.Arsenal 0:0, vs.Koln 1:0, vs.Sparta Prague 1:0,vs.Krasnodar 2:3,vs.CSKA Moscow 0:1. So no one out-played us and what is more important - nobody beat us with two goals margin. I really don't see it happening in Salzburg either.
    First match in Belgrade ended in goaless draw but we were without the fans because of ban. Which was a huge blow for the team.
    Now it will be different in Salzburg where i expect advantage on the stands because there is a large number of Serbs living in Austria and Germany. Im sure in one thing - the atmosphere will be like we playing on home ground.

    In pre-season we've already played against two Austrian clubs and won both of them (vs.Lask 3:1,vs.Ried 2:0) but Red Bull Salzburg is something different.
    Salzburg have a good team,but a bit weaker than last season (this is my opinion of course). By the looks of things they wont have Hwang and Junuzovic available for the second match,and Leiner,Onguene and Schlager have some fitness issues as well.

    In Crvena Zvezda only defender Savic is questionable but Babic is ready to fully replace him.

    Salzburg have struggled against two Croatian teams (Dinamo and Rijeka) in couple of previous seasons and they were knocked-out by them. I see this Crvena zvezda side as strong,organized and hard to crack. Salzburg is legitimate favorite,but shouldn't be this big.

    I think that if we lose on Wednesday it not going to be a big lost.
    Therefore my pick will definitely be Crvena zvezda AH+1.
    By the looks of things,the odds on home side are dropping so i will wait for a couple of days for better odds on away side.
    (i'll probably try Crvena zvezda to qualify for small stake as well)

    Stirling v Peterhead.
    Stirling have had a terrible start to the season with 3 straight defeats, including an opening day loss to the dross of Berwick. Peterhead are arguably the strongest side in this league and are rightly favourites to be champions. Their front 2 of McAllister and Lyle could have a field day here. I was expecting the odds on the away win to be shorter than this. Peterhead @ 1.83 is printing money.
