Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
How do you know he knew? Perhaps he'd managed a sneaky glance at the cards. Perhaps he was just happy at putting another million on his bank balance. Who knows? Surely the real money would have been in the draw and Calzaghe V Hopkins II in Wales? No one would have batted an eyelid at a draw after that fight. I can't understand boxing conspiracy theorists with fights like this. The result was obvious, Joe did enough. I had someone telling me a few weeks ago that Hatton/Mayweather was fixed to end in the 8th,it was obvious apparently. I wondered why Hatton bothered getting his face smashed in only to take a dive. Some people just have no boxing, or common sense.answer me one question, how did frank warren know the result before it was announced by buffer????? he came in that ring looking smug as fcuk. perhaps sports network and goldenboy, did a little deal on the side. Because who is better to market in the future a 43 year old who will probably retire now, or a undefeated 36 year old. -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
There's no comparrison between Pavlik and Lacey. Pavlik has already beaten Jermain Taylor twice quite convincingly' date=' and Taylor beat Hopkins twice quite convincingly, you can't knock that record imo.[/quote'] Fair point. I think this fight will have to happen if Calzaghe wants to seal his legacy though. On the Betfair point, boxing is unusual in that a) you don't actually know the score until the end b) you don't know what the judges are scoring Personally I think too many people had been blinded by Hopkins good work early on and many people might have thought US judges would always be giving Hopkins the benefit of the doubt. With this in mind it's easy to see how the punters could have got it wrong so badly. -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
1) He did (full stop) 2) Johnson is not in the same league as Calzaghe. He's a journeyman who has always been on the fringe of world class but never really stepped up to the plate for any prolonged period of time. Not only that Johnson brings nothing to the table for Calzaghe.(1) Calzaghe didnt do enough to win the fight (full stop) (2) forget pavlik, i'd rather see calzaghe fight Glen Johnson (who roy jones lost to, and who was robbed last week) -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
That means fcuk all. FACT. Hopkins looked good for the 1st 3 rounds, he really spoiled Calzaghe's work on the inside by beating him to the punch then locking Calzaghe's right arm. At that point it looked like Hopkins was coasting to victory. But once Calzaghe found his range and started landing on the way in all Hopkins did was back away, hold and turn his back. There's no way you can give him rounds if that's all he's doing. Not only that, at no point after the 1st did Calzaghe look in any kind of trouble, he was always the keener to fight, always coming forward and the one landing all the shots. Hopkins was knackered by the 7th, hence the impromptu breaks for low blows. I called it as Calzaghe's during the fight and my only gripe is I didn't put my money where my mouth was. Mainly because i didn't trust the US judges and thought Calzaghe would need to even up the knockdown. With regards to Pavlik, we're getting all the arguments as we did against Lacy. Too young, too strong, too explosive, bang in form. I believed them then, I wouldn't make the same mistake again. Calzaghe is 100% class.Spot on mate, No danger did Joe take it, i'm in shock, ALL the big shot were landed by hopkins- FACT -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
Exactly.Hopkins was a 1 shot boxer and the americans score shots... 116-111 was about right -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April

Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
Tell you what after Hatton and this fight I'm fast losing respect for Cortez.I fcuking hope so mate. He needs to win every round here on in to snatch it on points. -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April He's found his range. he can win this.
-
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April Tell you what's happening here, Hopkins is tying Calzaghe up in exactly the same way as Joe did with Lacy. Landing then locking his right arm every time he comes in close.
-
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April This is going to be a fcuking classic.

Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April

Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April Well that was fcuking embarrasing. He's a bum, club level fighter. I'll offer 1.1 he talks about himself in the 3rd person in the interview. Audley harrison is back yeah. Fcuk off you prick.

:rollin:rollin Caption on the interview just made me laugh: Audley Harrison: Former WBF heavyweight champion :rollin:rollin:rollin The bloke's deluded.Audley possibly has the ability to be the heavyweight champion of his bedroom. -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
You could see it in the weigh in though. Wound up so tight it was obvious that he was going to go after Mayweather and have EXACTLY the same happen to him as every other fighter who has ever gone after Mayweather. Yesterday it was Hopkins looking tense, I think there's a seed of doubt there. Calzaghe on the other hand looked like he was just ready to fight his fight. Parcel force up next on Setanta, anyone think Audley can win a title?Agree. I thought the betting was 'wrong' with that fight. I backed Hatton, laid half back when I saw him in the dressing room and laid the other half back when I saw him entering the ring. So didn't play. He was beaten then. -
Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April I've got a feeling about this after the weigh in. Hopkins looks wound up as fcuk, doesn't look confident at all to me. I thjink Calzaghe on points is the likely outcome but I'm going to have a little snifter on Calzaghe by stoppage. 2pts on Calzaghe by TKO, KO or DQ at 5s with betinternet. Give him hell joe:hope

Re: Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Saturday 19th April
Same problem he had with Lacy. If he lost, the critics were right all along, if he won Lacy wasn't as good as the press made out. I'm not a big fan of Calzaghe, this fight should have been happening 5 years ago.Well I suppose you could never fault Bernard Hopkins' ability in selling the fight to the public but I question his methods. Why play the race card? Sportinglife.com - Hopkins Questions Joe's Credentials Most folks are predicting Calzaghe will win this with ease. I can't really disagree but I don't think Joe will win with such ease. This is almost a lose-lose situation for Joe whatever the outcome. If Joe wins as expected the naysayers will tout that Hopkins is 43 years old and well past his best, and that Joe will have to fight at least two more times in the US to convince the US public who still appear to be sceptical. For British boxing interest this IS the fight of the year so far.

This is tonight, should be a fairly comfortable victory for Hatton, either by late-ish stoppage or points. Although having said that I can't see it being a spectacular homecoming by any stretch. It will be really interesting to see just how Hatton performs and where is head is right now. Best price on Hatton by points is 2.38, of which I'll be having a nibble. Also having some of Hatton in 7-9 (4.5) and Hatton 10-12 (7s) 5.8pts Hatton by pts @ 2.38 (betinternet) 3.1pts Hatton 7-9 @ 4.5 (Laddies) 2pts Hatton 10-12 @ 7 (Laddies)
