  1. Re: Hatton V Mallignagi

Dont rate Paulie at all, thought he was beat by Ndou last time out in Manchester getting an iffy decision, just dont see him troubling Hatton at all, I'd have Hatton heavy odds for this and think he is a standout bet at anything above 1/3 :unsure
I'm assuming it's going to go to points, whoever wins. Betfred are offering 1.36 to go the distance. Max bet for me on that.
  2. Re: Hatton V Mallignagi I more or less agree with everything you've said there pete. I see Malignaggi as a value bet more than anything, especially at 4.4 to win on points. I think where I'm coming from is that Hatton looked very tired in the second half of the Lazcano fight and shipped a lot of punches against what was a very mediocre opponent. For a fighter who has always relied on pressure and workrate that has to be a bad sign. Hatton WAS class no doubt, but as I've said on here previously - just how much did Mayweather take out of him? It was the pinnacle of his career, he trained harder than he'll ever train again and was wound up so tight you could feel it over the internet. IMHO I don't think he'll ever find that level of motivation and will again. To lose after all that must kill something inside a fighter, to come face to face with your limitations. I honestly think Hatton's on borrowed time as a world class operator and Malignaggi is good enough to trouble him with fitness and workrate. I'm shying away from backing him after Hatton has been working with Mayweather Sr. He might show just how good he is and prove that he still is world class and can still adapt his style and pull something out. For me though Malignaggi is the value bet here.

  3. Not really had time to formulate some proper thoughts on this, or check the odds out. I think this could be the fight where Hatton comes unstuck though and I think I'll probably oppose him. Despite winning last time out he looked very unimpressive and tired, and was so beat up you could have mistaken him for the loser. Will post something in a bit more detail tommorow.

  4. Re: Moving

Anyway we have decided to jump ship and move to Dubai.
Blimey, ditching sunny old Wakey for Dubai. What are you thinking of:lol:lol Good luck:ok
  5. Re: Haye vs Barrett - Sat 15th November - Boxing

Haye hurt Barrett after the first few big punches (The fight should of been stopped @ the end of the 3rd round because he didnt know what planet he was on and it was obviously only a matter of time before he took his head off!) but its always going to come down to whether he can take the big punches, he self claims that he cant take a punch and thats always going to be the problem... hes just going to have to knock the brothers out before they hit him :nana And the entrance was like a dodgy WWF entrance that goes wrong :moon Mike
Nice call on the rounds, would have come in no probs with a jumpier ref:clap
  6. Re: Haye vs Barrett - Sat 15th November - Boxing Hows about that then? Great entrance from Barrett:lol Haye's proved something there for me. he did take a shot or two and dished it out. Finished him in style. Here's how it pans out: Haye Vs. Wlad in March, KO in 3-4 no problem. Haye Vs. Vitali next september for the undisputed title, lose in 5-6. The commercial, personal and political pressure is there. The Klitschkos hold the belts, won't fight each other and Vitali is the dominant brother. I'll be incredibly surprised if it doesn't pan out like this.

  7. Re: Haye vs Barrett - Sat 15th November - Boxing

Anyone just see the live press conference on (briefly) Setanta News? Barrett started swearing profusely (it's 1pm) and revealed there hasn't been a contract officially signed! He was moaning about the 'sh*tty' hotels and lack of money they have been giving him and it apparently adamant about a rematch clause in the contract. I take it Setanta had heard enough at this point and pulled it off the air. Anyone know what else was said? Barrett was very angry to say the least. It was just getting interesting..
Tried to get it on youtube but nothing posted so far. I like Haye a lot, he's good to watch, doesn't fcuk about and he does have some talent. I've got a bad feeling about this fight though, don't know why. I hope he wins and kicks on, I just want to see him take a heavyweight punch I think. If he beats Barret in style I think he will go on and beat Wlad. The two main threats are Vitali and Povetkin, I'd have serious doubts about him beating either of those, but we'll see. I just wonder if he'll come to regret fighting Macaranelli, It's put his heavyweight career back 12 months and the division is suddenly looking a bit tastier than it has for a while (which isn't hard). If he hadn't taken the mac fight he could have been fighting for a heavyweight title this weekend.
  8. Re: Boxing: Nov 8/9

He's finished Paul I think :unsure Cant believe the ref hasnt stopped this now, that cut is a shocker.
I thought 14s was good odds on a robbery.:) Well, what can you say about that? If that doesn't convince people, nothing will. I've never been his biggest fan but Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins and Jones have made a believer out of me. Well worth staying up for.:clap
  9. Re: Boxing: Nov 8/9

Have to agree Jones is definitely the value and 9/2 is enormous really. I really can't see a knockout for either fighter, so the points victory for either looks a decent bet.
I haven't had a bet yet, but I said in the other thread I'd want 5s on Jones. 9/2's getting pretty close. I think I might have a small snifter on that. I'm going to decide just before.
  10. Re: Boxing: Nov 8/9 Just watched the weigh in. Looked fit enough to me. Doing a bit of digging, the rumour came from Steve Bunce. Personally I think it's BS. Can't see why a bloke who has fought at super middle for most of his career would be overweight for a fight at light heavy.

  11. Re: Boxing: Nov 8/9

Fancy JC on points providing we see the Calzaghe that fought Kessler and Lacy, if he shows up with the same performance he put in agaisnt Hopkins I think he could face some problems. Maybe RJJ is a touch of value at the price, in the shape of his life as well according to most pundits. Danny Williams at 1.22??? Who is he fighting? me? :unsure
No idea who Williams is fighting, I thought McDermott had pulled out with an injury:unsure I'll deffo be backing against him when he fights Botha (in about 3 weeks:unsure), assuming Botha is the underdog. What weight probs does Calzaghe have? They both made the weight didn't they? It's light heavy, not super middleweight.
  12. Re: Autumn Boxing Pavlik/Hopkins tommorow. Pavlik is probably the most fancied fighter in boxing right now. Shit hot. And with good reason, unbeaten, KO ratio approaching 90%, beat Jermain Taylor well, twice, and is widely tipped to beat Bhop tommorow night. It;s difficult to argue with the tipsters who are backing him. Hopkins is old and isn't the fighter he was. He tired against Calzaghe and the consensus is Pavlik will KO him late on. But this is Hopkins we're talking about. Rock solid. Only been knocked down once and a defensive master. He WILL make this fight messy. I really liked the way he tied Calzaghe up for the best part of the fight, showing why he's considered a defencsive master and IMO it's unlikely that Pavlik will land the shots he needs to KO him and land them often enough. This, coupled with the fact that the judging of boxing is a law unto itself makes Hopkins value to win the fight IMO. If it goes the distance, it's anyones. Because of this I've got a small value bet on Hopkins by decision, [email protected] (betfred). Tempted to have a saver on Pavlik by points, currently at 1.9. But I'll have a think about it and decide tommorow.

  13. Re: Autumn Boxing

I was out at casino so completely missed the boxing tonight, am I right in thinking both Klitschkos are now World champions? I don't think Haye will be in a rush to fight either of them.
He can beat Wlad by KO for my money, he hits hard enough and Wlad doesn't have the chin. Vitali's different though. Only way I could see Haye winning is on points, but Vitali's just too slick. Vitali fought with his hands down today and just picked off the jab, followed with the overhand right, too easy. Peter took Wlad to points. There's no comparison between the two brothers.
  14. Re: Autumn Boxing

Any interest in Tarver vs Dawson tonight :unsure.
Nah, light heavies a weird division right now. These fellas are all past it. In fact outside Haye there's not a great deal of interest for me at anything above middleweight.
The main reason he doesn't get the credit he deserves is that the division is a joke really isn't it
When has it not been a joke though. Fair enough there's the Ali/Frazier/Holmes/Foreman era but outside that there's never been any strength in depth.
Pretty much the same opinion I have, lets remember Lewis wasnt exactly jumping back into the ring for a re-match was he?unsure.gif Was Vatali ahead by 2-3 rounds with 5-6 to go from me memory?
Lewis was always going to retire if he won though. IMVHO if Lewis had lost he would have won a rematch then retired. Lewis could come back now and dominate. For my money one of the most under-rated fighters in history.
  15. Re: Autumn Boxing

btw Paul what are your thought on Vitali?? I really have never understood why he gets a bad press and gets constantly called over-rated by so many, his KO record is uop there with anyone's? He has always taken on whoever was put in front on him, he has such a good chin he has never even took a count. The 2 defeats he suffered - one of them comfortably ahead on the judges cards before the rotator cuff in his shoulder came out and he was put out for 8 months............and the other he was ahead agaianst Lennox Lewis (considered an all time great) and was forced into a retirement because of a huge cut on the doctors advice despite wanting to carry on. Think the guy gets a bad time personally. If he was a yank I think they would have drummed him up as much as Holyfield, Tyson etc
Brilliant fighter, IMO. Not many really big names on his record but he has taken apart almost every fighter he has been in with, aside from Lewis who IMO would have been a great in any era. People go on about Tyson as a Legend, but who is the biggest name on Tyson's record? Vitali's got a lot going for him, physique, skill, chin, punch. He's going to dominate for the next couple of years barring injury.
  16. Re: Autumn Boxing

Once it started I didn't think he'd get anywhere near 8 rounds so fair play to him, well done Paul.
I only caught it from the 4th. It was obvious he was taking punishment, but Vitali was taking it very easy, I thought he might just be trying to ease in and see out the 12 rounds. That left-right-left combo was just landing too often though in the end. Decent performance. I'll tell you what, Haye can't beat Vitali. No way. That chopping overhand right would put him on his arse in double quick time. If Haye does want to be world champ he's going to have to avoid him.
  17. Re: Cash Players Toolkit

You know 2plus2 are publishers of the book? They're not going to tell you it's a bad book ;) (though I dont think you'll go too far wrong with 2plus2 books)
:lol:lol No, I didn't know. Thanks for the heads up.:ok I read what few reviews there are on Amazon, and took the plunge. The choice is just bewildering so I plumped for these mainly because it's a name I know, and they come recommended. It's a suck it and see. Only £25 for the pair brand new on Amazon, so I'm not going to be overly upset if they don't give me much help. On the videos thing, I have to admit I haven't watched any yet. I'm a loooong way behind you so my eye won't be as sophisticated, but I'll deffo post up my thoughts when I've watched some, maybe post a few hands for discussion, if that's OK.
