Re: boxing betting thread
I'm talking bolocks agin. I'll have to cut back on the beer:lol Anyways, without Pac and Money he's still not proved himself to be in the top 5 light welters.:unsurebut he's in the same division as Pac and Mayweather. -
Re: boxing betting thread
He gives the front of being humble, but for me it slipped after the Gomez fight. Gomez had just given him the fight of his life and he started going on about how easy it was once he got out of first gear etc. etc. I've had him down as a tosser ever since then.Plenty of us stood and cheered him in Manchester too and then he still whinges like a bitch, I always felt he was quite humble and not arrogant at all, starting to wonder. -
Re: boxing betting thread
I was :) At the age of 22 Manny was 32-2 and a 2 weight world champ. He's also arguably beaten 'the man' in every division he's fought. Khan's 23, 22-1 and really hasn't fought anyone yet. Never even beat the top domestic fighters at lightweight. Talented, undoubtedly. Still has major, major question marks though.Aren't we forgetting that Khan is only 22 though? We weren't all watching Manny aged 22 and taking his opponents apart? -
Re: boxing betting thread
Super performance from Mitchell that. And I have to admit' date=' one I didn't think he was capable of. A few years back al the talk was of a Khan V Mitchell match up, if Mitchell can take the WBO belt i think a unification with Khan is on the cards.[/quote'] I wasn't thinking straight when I posted this, they fight at different weights these days, so no unification:$ A match up is stil deffo posible though IMO. Mandatory's Maidana I think. He's the WBA interim champ. Bradley and Peterson fight for the WBO title next week, which Bradley should take comfortably. He *should* fight one of those 2, preferably Maidana on the Pac/Mayweather undercard. Maidana is a beatable big puncher for Khan, so I think that will be their coice as they'll see it as proving a point about Khan not being afraid to take on a puncher. I can't see him fancying Bradley who IMHO has all the right tools to beat Khan and is the real deal at this weight. I acually think he'd give Pac a run for his money. Aside from those two Juan Diaz or Malignaggi would be options, both big names but relatively light punchers. Very light in Paulie's case. On tonights fight, really it was a disgrace. There was no way Slaita should be in the same ring as Khan, never mind fighting for a title. The press are going to be on the bandwagon again but, who has he fought since Prescott? A no-hoper in Oisin Fagin, an over the hill Barrera, perfect stylistic match in Kotelnik and another fcuking no-hoper in Salita. It's like Joe Calzaghe all over again. He'll keep claiming to be the best in the world, whilst all the time avoiding the best peak fighters in his division. The guy's talented, for sure. As was Calzaghe. But as yet has no claim to being in the top 5 of his division, despite being world champ. He puts in index finger in the air giving it all the number one business after his fights, but he's in the same division as Pac and Mayweather. Number 1? In his wettest dreams. -

Re: boxing betting thread
There's a little value bet tonight for me. Prescott to beat Mitchell, which is available at evens most places, I think.Either i'm blind or there is no mention of Khan's fight tonight? Not a betting friendly fight? or just no interest? -
Re: boxing betting thread Nice write up foo. ward is the dark horse of the tourney for me.

Re: boxing betting thread
Brave bets. best of luck:clap No bet on this for me. I've been trying to find reasons to back Cotto, but haven't managed it. I like the guy a lot, but I just can't bring myself to back against Pacquiao right now.Always like to chase a bit of value in these fight so Cotto 1-6 @ 9/1 and 7-12 @ 9/1 too big to ignore. -
Re: boxing betting thread Good call Kev. Rogan fought the totally wrong fight as far as I could see. Tried knocking his head off from the first second of the first round, why do that when Sexton has supposed stamina issues and you're a fighter known for coming on strongly at the end. Big departure for Rogan from his normal game and he paid for it.

Re: boxing betting thread
:lol:lol He was nothing like knocked clean out. here, judge for yourself: It's a while since I've watched that. haye actually took some decent punishment in that last round without going down. His chin his shakey, for sure, but it's not as glass as most people make out. Haye on points tommorow. Split decision..my mate said he saw Haye fight a few years back against some guy called carl(the cat)taylor,or something like that at Reading rivermead stadium and The Cat who was 40 years old at the time knocked him clean out... -
Re: boxing betting thread
He's not going to headhunt. He's going to break his ribs.I mean how the fcuk can you box against Valuev??? Haye will be punching upwards and that is a lot different than punching straight...it's gotta take it's toll. surely? -
Re: boxing betting thread Bullshit stoppage IMHO but all money in the bank. beauty of a right hand to knock him down. I wonder if Adamek could actually be a force at HW?

Re: boxing betting thread
What have I done? I really don't fancy this bet anymore:lol**** it. I'm taking Adamek to win in the first half. It's gone out slightly to 100/30 from yesterday. I have to say I'm not massively confident about it coming inthough. I'm off to put it on before I talk myself out of it:lol -

I'll post up my final decision tommorow. -
Re: boxing betting thread
Don't think so, although I haven't checked. It's in Poland so it'll be on at a decent hour and there should be some decent streams on the net if not.Is it on any TV channels? -
Re: boxing betting thread Adamek V Golota tommorow. I'm certain that Adamek takes this by KO for a variety of reasons. Aside from the fact that Golota has never been that good and seems to have been shot for years, he's only had 2 fights in the last 2 years. His last was a first round retirement against ray Austin. He's weighed in at what I think is his heaviest ever and looks seriously out of shape on the pics I've seen on the weigh in. There's 3 bets I'm considering. Adamek by KO is (I think) best priced at 10/11 with sporting bet. However I can see some merit in both Adamek KO rds 1-6 at 3/1 and Adamek rds 7-12 at 5/2. The reasoning being Golota tends to go early against decent opponents, which Adamek is. But Adamek has rarely scored an early KO against a credible opponent. It all depends just how shit Golota is on the night. i'm tending towards Adamek in the first half, but will most likely pussy out and go for the any time KO. I'll post up my final decision tommorow.

Re: boxing betting thread
Agree with that totally, although I won't be betting on it myself. Loads of action tonight. Cleverly/Fry domestically. Gamboa, Lopez and Vasquez in action in the states (not to mention Solis V Barrett), Boytsov in action in Germany and Linares over in Japan.just done a huge write up on gamboa and lopez and the b8stard wouldnt post. fckit heres the gist of it. both superstars of the future, being showcased by the american paymasters at the reverential home of boxing. gone are the days of top prices on gamboa, since he's entered the mainstream. garcia is the scrificial lamb for gamboa to feast on. Has a 3 second ! ko by valero on his record, not to mention two other quick losses. lopez a monster inside the ropes. His under set at 7.5, his murderous mitts should bring a ref intervention by the 7th at the least. will be following gamboa, so won't want to be outshone by gamboa's earlier power show. the double pay 1.97 @ b365. 15% return at bwin for gamboa U9, but you'd be lucky to get a ton down. -
Re: boxing betting thread Best 3 rounds I've seen for ages. I was cheering like a loon for baker:loon:loon Your man Barret got lucky there kev. I thought Gammer took that fairly comfortably.

Re: boxing betting thread I'm having a nibble on Harrison, outright. I read a post on eastside a few months back before this was announced where someone said that if you put a headguard on Harrison and put him in a 3 round contest he's probably still the best heavyweight in the UK. I agree with this in a big way, IMHO all of Audleys problems stem from the fact that he doesn't believe he can do 12 hard rounds. That results in him just retreating into his shell, as he doesn't have the chin or the punch to take people out early. If he had the stamina he'd be a different proposition entirely over 12 rounds. Anyway, spotted some massive value in Harrison's first fight - He's evens with paddypower to win by points or decision. That's astounding. I'm on that. Also taken him at small stakes to win the whole thing.

Re: Top Goalscorer Comp Top idea:clap I'll have 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

Re: Boxing - 18/07/09 - Warren Card Top call on Lebedev:clap Good shout on small in running aswell:clap None of us could believe the odds, I think Small was 5/2 at one point, even though he was clearly winning. Bit dissapointed the Kotelnik bet didn't come in, Khan took a few flush shots well, which surprised me.

Re: Boxing - 18/07/09 - Hennesey Card On the money again Greenhoff:clap McIntosh didn't quite go as well as I expected by the sounds of it, although I haven't got round to watching it yet.

Shows how hard it is to make a profit. I think some of your picks have been excellent and I'm surprised to see you finish with a loss.
