  1. Re: AA one off button, 5 limpers! All in. And after you stuffed up with a smaller than neccessary raise go all-in after the flop. Fair enough there's a flush possibility and maybe some maniac called with a hand that's left him a straight draw as the flop is a bit co-ordinated. Personally I'd just go for it.

  2. Re: Trouble in Paradise.

Having watched "High Stakes" on You Tube (before most of it was removed). I very much doubt that there is a great deal of purity in a live game. A bunch of complicit animals ready and waiting to feed off of those who are not in the know and off of each other, or so it seemed to me. Poker heroes? I wouldn't trust any one of them.
Why do you play poker at all:unsure I used to find Boss a bit shonky but I don't play anywhere else these days. I also find that on the rare occasions it does go tits up it's usually an issue my end. So maybe you should check your PC and internet connection out just in case.
  3. Re: how do you beat gamblers? I would have thought you just keep sticking your money in when you're ahead. You do realise ALL poker good or bad is gambling, don't you? Have you worked out how far ahead you were when you actually stuck the money in by the way? Maybe this should just be moved to the badbeat thread:unsure

  4. Re: F1 Hungary 4/8

Hamilton is a shoe in hardly anywhere to overtake on this track. FULL BANK JOB!!
Difficult to see past Hamilton now ain't it? What odds have you taken on Hamilton and with whom? Blazing sunshine aswell by all accounts so not much chance of rain to bugger things up either. Not only that but with Heidfeld in second theres a good chance Hamilton will pull away from him and Kimi and have it wrapped up by the first pitstop.
  5. Re: SnG results

Cheers Slap. I much prefer the 10 seater tables and as I am doing ok at the normal speed I will stick to that I guess. Maybe when I have time play a few speed tournaments to see how much of a difference they are.
I used to prefer 10 seaters but found I'd become obsessively tight. Changing to short-handed gave my game a totally new lease of life. I felt a lot more confident about playing a wider rage of hands more aggressively.
  6. Re: SnG results

Its very annoying I guess Paul. I cant complain. I won well at $3 level/ $5 should be harder. Ill see how I get on and if I need to drop back down I will. Experimenting now. Trying $5 5 seater speed see how I get on.
Personally I find there's not a great deal of difference between 5/10/20 dollar games. Can't say for anything more as I've never moved up. You;re playing at the right time for speed though, give it an hour or two when people start getting in from the pubs and you'll clean up. Drunk people ALWAYS think you're bluffing.
  7. Re: SnG results

Played 7 $5 so far and lost with KK 3 times AA twice and QQ once. The standard of play is sooooo bad and I not cashed once yet. Does that mean I am crap as well?
I feel for you. I've just been through a stage where I couldn't buy a hand. I was getting the chips in the middle when I was ahead and sucking out in all manner of ways. Lost 70% of my bankroll. Just starting to work back up now.
  8. Re: Cricket: England vs India Test Series

Hope tail goes early, which may suggest quite a bit still in it for bowlers. Skittled in 7 overs this morning would see England all out in 62 overs. With sunshine, looks like, could we then see India facing, say, 75 overs today? England 2nd innings to start Day 2 5/2 would be fair. 5-1 :tongue2 at sportingodds and recommend at the price.
I'm having something similar. Wicket and conditions look to be a batsmans nightmare. England to lead first innings [email protected] (betfair)
  9. Re: Rugby League - Featherstone Rovers vs Celtic live on Sky Sports 2 (26th July) Well I make that 3 ex-wakefield players in the side and another one coaching. It must be lika an old boys re-union down at the Chris Moyles;) Good luck anyway. I'd rather see Fev in SL than Celtic anyday:ok Having said that, if neither you nor Cas go up you could always try a merger:lol

  10. Re: Man v Machine Poker Championship

Limit is certainly easier for computers than no-limit, but I wonder how much the fact that computers are currently so much better at limit is because that's where most of the effort has gone so far? My guess is that the difference between heads-up and full table may turn out to be a lot more significant than the difference between limit heads-up and no-limit heads-up.
I think you're right. What about pot-limit though? Much less restricted than fixed-limit betting wise, but less chance of forcing people out of a pot pre-flop than no-limit. I wonder if it would be easier to beat full table no-limit than full table fixed-limit for this very reason. I think you could potentially find a good no-limit pre-flop strategy that minimised the number of players you had to beat post-flop.
  11. Re: Man v Machine Poker Championship

Seeing as I worked in IT for 30+ years my vote is in the bag.
You're on man then?;) Computer could potentially win at fixed limit I suppose. I don't know a great deal about it but I hear it's much more mechanical than either pot limit or no limit. I read an article a while back saying the toughest one to crack would be pot limit.
  12. Re: My Rugby World Cup Tips....

Should be a good thread, I'm getting ready to start laying the Ab's. Shockingly underpriced @ 1.48. They're not in good form, the combinations aren't working, Carter isn't playing well. The Aussies are trading at 13's and i'm going to have some. The Ab's look at pale shadow of last years team. Good pick on Nick Evens, I think he might actually play at full back, so it might be good value.
I'm really tempted to lay NZ. Head says go for it, heart says no way, they're going to walk it. I think the general standard this time round is much lower than last time. I think in 2003 England, France, Aus and NZ were all genuinely in with a chance. This time there's no European side looking like they're going to even go close. I suggested backing NZ last year just before they mullered France twice when they were still decent odds against, with the idea that were their form to continue you'd get a tasty opportunity to lay at good odds on. Wish I'd taken my own advice now.
  13. Re: Ever Dished out a Bad Beat - Post here and Gloat Worst one I've ever dished out was in the tourney that used to be on a friday nigght, I think it was Royal Vegas $2000 added or something like that. Used to get quite a few Plers. Anyway, I was short stacked, went all in with 7s. Someone calls with rubbish (not surprised as I didn't have much fold equity) and someone calls with A 10. Flop comes A 10 10 and I'm getting ready for bed. Turn, 7. River, 7. The guy went nuts in the chatbox, I could only sympathise.

  14. Re: Boxing - 14th July

Some similarities to Naseem Hamed, stepped up a level and nearly got found out. It's ok having fast hand speed but if you've got a dodgy chin you're not going to last long in Boxing. I know I can't compare Khan with Hamed but both had massive potential and Naz got found out against Barrera and realised he was not as good as he thought. I hope Khan works on that defence cos there were some dodgy moments last night that surprised me, regardless of opposition.
Khan and Hamed are completely different kettles of fish for me. Hamed IMO is one of the best boxers to ever have come out of Britain, and could have been one of the best the world had ever seen. He just got bored and lazy. As Marvin Hagler said it's difficult sliding out from under silk sheets at 5.30am to do your roadwork. We'll have to wait and see what happens with Khan, his handspeed is good but he's just not fast enough to box with his hands down, as he's prone to doing.
  15. Re: Boxing - 14th July

awful fight agree totally with mowgli' date=' the Khan fight was terrific though but the heavyweight division really needs something, David Haye perhaps?[/quote'] IMHO David Haye could be undisputed heavywieght world champion with the way thigs stand. I'd fancy him against of the current Heavy wieght crop including Wlad Klitschko. The only one he should fear is Vitali Klitschko. He'd despatch both Sprott and Skelton within around 4 rounds, no problems. I like watching Skelton for comedy value, He's got the bizarrest stance and technique I've ever seen, obviously because of his martial arts background. Decent Domestic level fighter though, and is deserving of respect for what he's managed in his short career. I hope he does get a crack at a title. He deserves it IMO. Thoroughly enjoyed the Khan fight. I bet Warren was shitting bricks sat there watching one of his golden geese take the pounding of his life. Did well to get back up and win but he looks thoroughly suspect to me. Although to be fair Limond is no mug.
  16. Re: Cheapskate poker interesting this. at 10c per buy in, assuming 60-90 hands per hour you could conceivably go all-in every hand for the first hour for less than $10. Sure you'd bust out more often than not but you;d only need a little luck to be reasonably well placed when the re-buys finish.

  17. Re: Can anyone settle an argument?

i was in an mtt recently' date=' 3 people in the pot, board read 4444a , all 3 people had been betting into each other but when the ace hit and one guy went all in , only one person called , the other guy folded :lol .[/quote'] That's always worth a go I find. It's amazing how many people fold in that situation.
  18. Re: Punters Lounge Poker Site?

I just logged into the site and they have 4 players registered on their sit and go tables. 2 players playing heads up on a $25 buy in and 2 players registered waiting for a 9 player $5 table to fill up. Not the busiest of sites, you have to wait ages to get into a game.
Chicken and egg really then. I can log onto SO any time of day or night and get a game within a few minutes.
  19. Re: Hatton V Castillo (23/6/7)

Mayweather's camp has been spouting away. Today's Bettingzone Market News: 0815: With Floyd Mayweather claiming that he will be too good for Ricky Hatton if they meet, bookmakers William Hill have installed the American as 1/2 favourite to win the fight if it happens - with Hatton quoted as 6/4 outsider and the draw a 20/1 shot. "Ricky is a great crowd-pleaser and a terrific boxer but the jury is still out on whether he has yet to take on the real top-notchers out there," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. "Which is why we are currently offering 3/1 about Ricky remaining undefeated until the end of 2008."
I think this fight has to be made. Difficult to see past Mayweather on points really. Unless Hatton goes in with a clear strategy on exactly how he's going to stop mayweather landing and running away/tieing up. If he doesn't get his plan right he could end up embarrased like Lacey was against Calzaghe.
  20. Re: Punters Lounge Poker Site?

Mansion only charge 5% rake on STT. Their $20 games pay out $19 and the $5 games take 25 cents as rake. It has not helped them to get more players, I can't understand why.
Well I never knew about it. Are they very busy? If they're reasonably busy and the standard isn't *too* tough I'm going to withdraw my SO balance and move it there.
