When I first started betting back in the early 80s I used to follow tipsters, mostly Newsboy from the Daily Mirror (a good socialist rag). I struggled to make a profit, probably because his tips were widely followed.
As I am always on the quest for value rather than winners it might make sense to bet against popular tipsters as their selections are probably overbet.
My data doesn't include such tipsters data so it's not an area I can really comment on with authority.
Spread betting (for racing) still on my to do list !

Would you believe that's the hat trick!Ā
Had a fiver with a 50% odds boost. Shame I didn't roll them over as a treble!Ā

To be flippant, whoās tipped a horse on here when Iāve got a freebie or offer to utilise! But, for some people maybe tipster selections/naps can be a positive or negative signals as part of a selection process.
Then thereās spread betting prices, something I suspect hardly any racing punters would pay any heed to. Probably a red herring as my gut feel is they wouldnāt be of much use for that sport, but theyāre hugely predictive for me in betting on goal and tryscorers so, if I was ever going to take a proper tilt at betting on racing Iād want to explore that angle if only to eliminate itĀ

Typically I forgot to post this selection on here so I won't record it but posting to show I do know what I'm actually doing re football š¤£š¤¦š¼āāļø. Should have gone home wins & over 2.5 however...

I say, are you Fred Elliott by any chance!
I can answer for him (and myself); no as they're a bunch of risk averse barstewards who long since escorted us off the premises.

6 by my reckoning. If you dutched them all at best bookies price it would pay around 3.45. If you dutched them all at current exchange price it would pay around 4.7.
Rule 1 for these sort of bookies offers is to compare them to what you could get by simply taking the best available price(s). This one looks just short of being fair given that it falls between best bookie and exchange odds.
Always assume a bet the bookies are pushing at you is poor value unless you do the ādue diligenceā and have a reason to think otherwise.Ā

Whilst Castleford should arguably tighten up somewhat after last week's Challenge Cup drubbing by Wigan, they could easily get tonked again with Wigan's star backs having another field day. The one bit of value for me was Jake Wardle at 20/21 with Bet 365.

Yes, but I've just had a look around for tonight and there's nothing that interests me. There will inevitably be something tomorrow though.

They're giving you special "celebrity" treatment because of your high profile role on here!Ā
Not as daft an idea as it might sound if we subscribe to the occasionally mooted notion that "they" are watching us (I'm sure Kevin Pullein was only able to get lumpy bets on because of who he was while those who followed him struggled to get a fiver on his selections) but perhaps just good fortune in this instance. I too had only heard negative stuff other than your experience.

harry_rag got a reaction from ThunderDan9 in Champions League Quarter Finals Predictions > 16th & 17th April
After backing 6 players to score from outside the area in the first legs of last night's ties (only for 3 of them to score but from too close to the goal) I decided to revisit those players last night and found 5 at prices that appealed with Vitinha landing for PSG at 25/1. Forgive the after timing on that one but my results have been so bad of late on the straight anytime bets that I think it was my first profitable day since the weekend before last!Ā
Going to need a lot of bets to judge the merits of that particular angle given the typical odds but, so far this season, that makes for 2 winners from 21 bets (the other being Lejuene for Vallecano, posted on here, at 50/1). Had a proper look at tonight's games and gone with these players:
Haaland 28/1 and De Bruyne at 9/1
Valverde 22/1 and Rodrygo at 66/1
Kimmich 28/1, Goretzka 33/1 and Sane at 20/1
Odegaard at 15/1 and Rice at 22/1
One enough for a reasonable profit and a decent interest across both games.
