  1. Re: I Need a answer?????? The usual 'claims' don't apply in races confined to Apprentice jockeys........ You'd probably have to find the Race Conditions where it would set out what claims are applicable to this particular race. No idea where the Race Conditions are published...........they used to appear in 'Raceform Weekly Update' or whatever it was called.......

  2. Re: Best bet of the day Weds 12th Nov Southwell 3.00 - Kimono My House - Win Three times course and distance winner, won here over CD last week off a mark of 66 That was an Apprentice handicap with today's young jockey riding. With no penalty for the win and Rosie taking her allowance today, the horse is effectively 8 lbs better off than when he won last week over CD Trainer bang in form with 5 winners from his last 21 runners..........

  3. Re: Carlisle 10/11/2008

Nice one bowles Spent the day in the bookies, one decent winner but was on sammy spiderman aswell. Anyone see? Horse just ploughed into the fence!
What he seemed to do was to suddenly jerk to his left and plough into the wing of the fence and unseat the jockey..........then he jumped the fence on his own.......... You don't see that very often !
  4. Re: Carlisle 10/11/2008 Well done bowles !......... I thought the jockey on Faasel gave him a fantastic ride today.........even tho' there were only six runners he managed to keep him covered up behind a group of 3 horses pretty much all the way round then produced him in the last 100 yards to go past the leaders. Even then he tried to stop when he hit the front and Tot O Whisky was catching him back up hand over fist in the last 30 yards. Ten yards past the post Tot was in front of him again..........

  5. Re: best bet of the day - Mon 10th Nov Carlisle 1.55 - Le Toscan - Win Taking a chance on a 'hunch' outsider today...........:unsure Only 6 runners in this Graduation Chase and my fellow is currently out at 22/1 He's ex-Irish where he showed some decent form as a novice chaser last year, he's best at around this trip and has a win on 'heavy' to his name. Looking at his record he seems to run best for 2 or 3 runs at the start of the season then tails off He's had a run this year - Pulled Up, but that was from miles out of the handicap against Voy Por Ustedes, Exotic dancer & Co in the Old Roan, where he obviously stood no chance and was a 100/1 shot. I'm hoping they were using that to give him a racecourse trip to blow the cobwebs away Have some doubts about the others - Faasel only wins in big fields, Tot O Whisky looks the most likely winner, but he's a slowcoach and this trip is on the short side for him. With the heavy ground he really 'should' win, but at the odds I'm taking a chance that he won't. Le Toscan to spring a surprise ! ................:hope

  6. Re: Carlisle 10/11/2008 1.55 Graduation Chase If you're thinking of backing the likely favourite Faasel ( Evens in RP forecast ) here's something to bear in mind........... Since he went jumping Faasel has run in 11 races where the field size was in double figures He's won 5, been placed in 3 and unplaced in 3. The 3 that he was unplaced in were all Championship races - The Champion Hurdle, The Arkle and the Punchestown Festival World Hurdle. On the other hand he's run in 13 races where the field size was in single figures and lost all 13. Just the 7 runners in today's race ! Of course it might be that his class will see him home or it might be that he needs the 'cover' of a big field to give his best.

  7. Re: Sole CD Winners - Handicaps Thanks guys..........looks like a bit of luck might be needed !.......:loon Sir Haydn was 'placed' at 10/1 but old Anshabil got tailed off ( didn't stop the jock giving him a good few cracks when he was struggling 20 lengths off the pace !) So........2 losers Bets - 6 Losers - 6 P/L - (6.00)

  8. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Sun 9th Nov Kempton 5.00 - Sabre Light - Win This 'looks' like a two horse race with the selection and Inquest as joint favourites Sabre Light has won 4 times in this sort of grade, claiming and selling class, whereas Inquest has perhaps been running in better races but is still a maiden I'm going with the one who has proved that it can get it's head in front.

  9. Re: Best Bet Of The Day ~ Saturday 8th Sandown - 3.35 - Alfadora - Win Hit and miss type who I've backed with 'real money' in the past but who let me down.............:@ Difficult to catch him right but he's got some talent ! Today might be the day as his best ever run came over this CD last December on similar going to today in a similar looking race where he was bottom weight............sat down there on bottom weight today He seem to be an early season type who has a couple of good runs in Nov/Dec then fades away as the season progresses, so this is probably the time to catch him Often wins first time out, which he did this year at Southwell. Last time he was pulled up after being badly hampered so I'm hoping today will be his second proper race - after today he can fade away as he usually does.......

  10. I'm starting this again, but this time I'm using the Racing Post definition of a course and distance winner (The Life doesn't distinguish between Flat, Hurdles and Chases, which is a bit rubbish ! ) So.......... Reasoning is that in a handicap the horses are 'meant' to finish in a line so a CD win should give a horse some advantage as we know he acts at the track and over todays distance. And if it's the only CD winner in the field, it's the only one with that advantage. Simple system which only takes a few minutes to run through the racecards each day. Hopefully there'll be a few big priced ones to offset the losing runs ! 1 point win per selection. Sat 08/11/08 Kelso 2.10 - More Likely Sandown 2.30 - Black Hills Wincanton 1.10 - Lidjo De Rouge Wincanton 2.50 - Katchit

  11. Re: Sandown Sat 8th NOv 3.35 - Alfadora EW Hit and miss type who I've backed with 'real money' in the past but who let me down. Difficult to catch him right but he's got some talent ! 12. Re: Kelso - 8/11/08 2.40 Tartan Snow - Win Lightly raced type with just 13 career starts. Both his wins have come here at Kelso on soft or heavy ground. Been steadily rising up the handicap by virtue of his 2 wins and 5 'places' from his 13 runs but is only 4 lbs higher than his last winning mark Hasn't run for a few months but ran well on seasonal debut last year to finish second, so should go ok fresh

  13. Re: Sole CD Winner in Handicaps Three losers and a non-runner leave the final stats as....... Total Bets - 16 Winners - 2 Losers - 14 P/L - ( - 7.38) As mentionned above I've been a bit misled by using the Life site, so if i continue this I'll start a new thread and use the Racing Post CD indicators......... Got Katchit on the list for tomorrow !

  14. Re: best bet of the day - Fri 8th Nov 8.20 Wolverhampton - Northern Tour - Win Only 5 runners in the nursery and the topweight, as you'd expect, has the best form with a maiden win and a Newmarket conditions race win to his name Has been off the track for over 3 months so his fitness has to be taken on trust, but if he's ready to run, he should win this. BTW - he started off the campaign in the first 2YO race of the season, the Brocklesby and here we are on the penultimate day and he's running again.

  15. Re: Sole CD Winner in Handicaps Grrrr...........just noticed something a bit 'naughty'......... I've been using the Life site to gather in the selections..........I notice that Los Nadis is shown as a CD winner in the Life but when you look at his record he's actually won a 2 mile Hurdle at the course, not a flat race............:loon The Post doesn't show him as a CD winner.......... I'll leave him in and I don't know how many other previous selections might be dubious...........I think the Life also doesn't distinguish between 'Chase' and Hurdle' races when allotting 'CD' to a horse......... Grrrrrrrrrr............... I think I might start again as from tomorrow and just use the Post instead of the Life.

  16. Re: Sole CD Winner in Handicaps First winners yesterday ! Haydock 2-10 - Kandjar d'Allier - Won 6/1 Towcester 3.30 - High Jack - Won 8/13 Total Bets - 13 Winners - 2 Losers - 11 P/L - ( - 4.38) Four selections today - Musselburgh 3.30 - Los Nadis Hexham 12.50 - Moyne Pleasure Hexham 2.50 - Lindseyfield Lodge Wolv 7.50 - Sion Hill

  17. Re: best bet of the day 6th Nov 3.20 Lingfield - Rutba - Win Going for a four-timer and is the only CD winner in the field Has climbed up the handicap as a result of 3 wins, but started from a very low base being initially rated on it's 8/10 furlong runs. Seemed to have improved now stepped up to staying trips. Lightly raced three year old with only 8 career starts, in form, CD winner, improving now they've found his trip. Of course, it might be that they always knew that 2 miles was his trip but ran him over 8/10 furlongs to get a low handicap mark...........well, it 'could' happen...........:dude
