  1. Re: Thommo In the dark ages I used to like him on Channel 4 'cos he was jolly and fun as opposed to old Brough Scott who was as wooden as a plank.......... But now we've got 2 racing channels and a big variety of presenters/pundits he's pretty low down the pecking order........ Just shows what Choice will do.............;)

  2. Re: Best bet of the day 20th Aug 4.25 Ling - Matsunosoke EW Cracking little sprint race on the AW at Lingfield with a few group/listed runners Matsunosoke is not quite that level on turf but he loves it here - his last 3 wins have come on this track, including a Listed race. So he's no mug On both OR and RPR he's 3rd best in the race - and there are question marks against all the horses rated above him, none of whom have run on the all weather before and a couple of which are coming back from long lay offs Looks to have a decent EW shot..........and might win if a couple need the run

  3. Re: Best bet of the day - Wed 19th Aug Kempton - 8.10 - Rondeau - EW This horse is 2 from 2 at 6F on the AW. Strange career - started off at 8F and has gradually been coming down in trip ever since. Didn't manage to win at 8F or 7F but has won twice at 6F. Tried 5F last time but was well beat. Looks his 6F is his trip and polytrack his surface. Has won off 63 and 66 and up to 72 tonight so will have to improve but is still lightly raced - up in class as well. Has won class 6 and class 5 and it's clas 4 tonight. Probably why he's around 16/1. Both his wins have been in fast times and I reckon he's better than his overall record suggests

  4. Re: Kempton 19/08/09 9.10 - Best In Class His record on polytrack is 6-2-1-1 from 4 runs. - and that 2nd was a short head. The 6th was hs racecourse debut Has been well beaten in a few runs on turf so I'm hoping he's just a much better horse on the polytrack Has gone up 5lb for a last time out win at Lingfield but is a lightly raced typw with just 8 career starts and should still be on the upgrade (apart from when he runs on turf !) Dascombe yard in pretty good form

  5. Re: Kempton 19/08/09 8.40 Haafhd Time - EW Stupid name !,..........:lol Been impressed with this one last time out when he won a handicap over CD - makes his record 2 from 2 at the track His previous win was in a Classified Stakes - I'm never sure about them, they're below Sellers aren't they ? Anyway, safe to say that his last run was a big improvement on anything he'd done before and it might be that he's getting the hang of things after half a dozen runs. If that last win signifies genuine improvemnt then he's lowly rated on 62 and could win a few low grade handicaps before the handicapper catches up with him Can't really go 'win only' with a lightly raced Gosden horse in the field and 4 last time out winners - it looks pretty competitive !

  6. Re: Kempton 19/08/09 Good start ! Don't fancy the next 2 races....... 8.10 Rondeau - EW This horse is 2 from 2 at 6F on the AW. 7. Re: RUK Now - On or Not ?

Hehehe' date=' it reminds me to a joke: if Microsoft would manufacture cars, then we would have to stop beside the road every 100 or 200 miles, turn off the engine, get out of the car, wait minute or two, for no particular reason... and then get back into the car, turn it on, and continue the voyage just like nothing has happened... :lol[/quote'] :lol:lol I hadn't heard that one before...........
  8. Re: Kempton 19/08/09 6.40 Agnes Love Looks a very poor race even for a class 5 handicap Speak The Truth will probably be favourite and has a good overall record with 5 wins from 18 starts. The only thing that puts me off is that he ran poorly here on his only visit Mazzola and Rebecca de Winter are plummeting down the handicap after OK two year old seasons. You'd want to see a bit more sparkle before backing either of them Agnes Love has run well here before, she's a CD winner. Ran here last week and finished 5th behind Silver Prelude. That was also a class 5 but a much better race than this. If she repeats that effort she should win tonight

  9. Re: Ruk Hi jamie........ I resubscribed with Virgin but couldn't figure out how to access the online stream - they kept asking me for another 9.99 a month........ I e-mailed them a coupleof days ago but am waiting for a reply........:hope

  10. Re: Ruk

I think I read somewhere you need to email them or something ? Not sure though.
thanks stewart..........I've sent them an e-mail asking how i access the service. You'd think they'd have something on the website !.........poor !
  11. Re: Ruk Blimey..........my telly has gone bust........... Oh well........now I've subscribed to RUK via Virgin Media, I think the subscription includes 'free' online streaming at the RUK site. Anybody else with VM tried to access this ? How do you do it ? I've registered on the RUK site but can only find links which involve paying another £ 9.99 a month. How do you get the 'free' service if you're a VM subscriber ?

  12. Re: Best bet of the day 17th Aug Wolv - 3.15 - Bond City - EW Agree that Prescription looks like a good thing but he is odds on in a competitive handicap. His last win at Ling was impressive ( my own trademark speed ratings gave him a Listed/Group 3 level rating ) but he's up in grade, up in the weights and has never run here before, so it's worth looking for some EW value against him Bond City finished 2nd here last time he visited the track. Since then he's run some stinkers on turf back at 6 furlongs, but he often does run stinkers on turf and looks like he wants this 7 furlongs now. Back on his last winning mark at a track he usually goes well at........and currently 28/1

  13. Re: Kempton 17th Aug (AW) 4.30 - Eighteenfifty Might be worth giving this one another chance now that he's moved to the Barry Hills stable from Nicky Henderson He's a lightly raced type having run in NH bumpers over the winter ( ran in 3, won 1, two 2nds, favourite every run) Has run 3 times on the flat and been favourite twice. So he's gone off as favourite 5 times in his 6 career runs. Someone must like him ! Got hammered in a competitive Ascot handicap last time and there has to be a doubt wether he gets 16 furlongs on the Flat. Hopefully in this small field and lower grade they'll jog round pretty slowly and increase his chances of getting the trip Nothing else in the race stands out although Alnwick is a course and distance winner and looks best of the more exposed runners.

  14. Re: Kempton 17th Aug (AW) 3.30 - Macs Power Gonna give this one another chance after last FridayIn that race he showed a tremendous turn of foot to go round almost the whole field and scoot a few lengths clear, only to die a death in the last few yards and get done by a couple of late finishers. If he could just delay his effort by a few seconds and use his speed at the end rather than in the middle of the race, he would have won last week and hopefully can get it right today.

  16. Re: Ruk Oh well, I gave in and phoned up Virgin to subscribe today I'm not really sure that I actually did it as the lady didn't seem to know what RUK was. :unsure There was a bit on confusion all round as whilst I was on I seemed to have signed up for 20 Meg BB on the basis that it was 1.50 a month cheaper than the 2 Meg I've got now............I hope i didn't misunderstand !
