  1. Re: BBOTD 2nd Aug Sou 8.25 - Tenancy - EW at 22/1 bog Boylesports Has won 3 times on this track and won over CD only 2 runs ago He was a 66/1 shot that day so it might have been a bit of a fluke but he made all and hung on gamely He's got a decent draw tonight to try a repeat performance. He's an in and out type, could well run a stinker, but at big odds he looks an EW prospect in a field full of in and out types, It's a bit of a lottery but at least he's won over this CD in the last few weeks !

  2. Re: New To The Horses

I think both of these are daft: 1 - Why don't you keep a record? You surely can't judge yourself to be good at what you are dong if you place three bets that you think will win, and they lose, then you win an 'all or nothing' bet.... 2 - Follows on from 1. I agree, in principal, with the staking system but so many people post bets that sometimes i'ts good to know stakes. A lot of people post 'tips' that aren't bets but personally I'd rather know that someone has lost/won £100 on workforce because it lets me know how serious they are. Granted, all stakes are worthy but I'd rather be following the guy that places £500 on a 10pt bet than the guy who places £10 on a 10pt bet.
I only have one betting account - I can judge how well I'm doing by the amount in the account. I know what I started with about 18 months ago and I've now got 8 times that amount...........so I know i'm doing OK. And as i said, all the bets are recorded on the bookie site so i can always look back over them if i need to Second point - surely that depends on what somebody earns. if Richard Branson came on here and said he was having £100 on Workforce you might think he doesn't fancy it very much, it's a flutter..............if i said i was having a fiver on you'd know i thought it was a dead cert.........that why points not pounds is better. A hundred quid might be a 1 point bet to Branson and a fiver might be a 5 point maximum bet for me.
  3. Re: BBOTD 1st August Ripon 4.15 - Lady Royale - win at 7/2 bog bet365 Has been gradually improving all season and won last time out If her progress continues she should handle a 6lb rise in the weights My main worry is that she seems best at beverley which is a much stiffer track than this but she's won at York which is a fast track. She appears to be a hold up and run on late type, so just gotta hope that no front runner has slipped the field ! Favourite is Eland Ally who has some decent form but keeps going up the weights without winning and is up another 3 lbs for finishing 2nd last time, making 14 lbs in all since his handicap debut and he hasn't won yet !

  4. Re: All Female Card Tomorrow! Your Thoughts! well, well............I always thought Kelly Harrison was a bloke...... :loon I'm not overly fussed about it one way or the other.........it's only one card and I guess the racecourse is trying to make it a special day for the northern training yards.........just something a bit different. I think a lot of these Lady Amateurs are wives or daughters of trainers and I suppose it's a bit like a 'firm's do'.............

  5. Re: Goldikova Yeah, that was pretty impressive although Sahpressa was catching her fast..........she wasn't really being pushed out And sahpressa is a group one filly herself. That's 14 group ones.............anyone know what the record is ?

  6. Re: BBOTD ~ Sat Newm 5.15 - Peintre D'Argent - win at 7/1 BOG bet365 This horse was clobbered by the handicapper, put up 12 lbs for winning an apprentice handicap at Newbury But he's relatively lightly raced and still looks to be on the upgrade 12f on good to firm seems ideal for him and he comes here off a 2 month break, having won the last two times he's come fresh to the track This doesn't look very competitive with several out of form types and a couple who need further

  7. Re: Thursday Discussion

I did once know how placepots worked but I've forgotten as I haven't done it for a while. However, wondering how much I'd have won today. Think the dividend was about £750. I had a 32 line bet at 50p so came to £16. Lost it on the final leg but just wondering what I'd have won if say 1 of my 2 in the 6th race placed (say replace the JF with the one I had that was unplaced). Anyone?
Dividend was £761.40 to a pound........... So wouldn't you have won half of that for each 50p line you had up ? Of course if you'd have had winning lines the dividend would have been a bit smaller 'cos there's have been more winning lines (ie the existing ones plus yours) I think that's how it works
  8. Re: BBOTD ~ Thursday Epsom 8.40 - Cocohatchee - win at 5/1 bog Wm Hill Small field 6 furlong sprint handicap with plenty of pace up front I think it's likely they'll go off too fast on this downhill track and something might well come from behind Cocohatchee ran over 5 furlongs here last time and was last until running on to take 2nd in the final furlong. With an extra furlong today and the first time visor to sharpen him up he's got a good chance of gettingf up if the field are coming back to him He's had 3 runs on downhill tracks (here and Goodwood) and whilst he hasn't won one his total beaten distance is one and a half lengths or average half a length, so he obviously goes well downhill !

  9. Re: Thursday Discussion Oh dear, one of the lady amateurs was hurt in a fall after the line and is being taken to hospital............it's the wife of the Pink Floyd drummer Hope it's nothing serious as that would negate the publicity that this chatity race has generated.............

  10. Re: Owner strike rates Must say that i don't take notice of strike rates either, of jockey, trainer or owner,...........I suppose of the various strike rates I'm more inclined to be influenced by a trainer having a good recent strike rate as evidence that the yard is OK Even if these strike rates are at say 20%, it still means that 4 out of 5 are not going to win............
