  1. Re: BBOTD Friday 9th March Well, BH..........I'm still able to store 'My Ratings' - I had assumed I wouldn't be able to after the 'upgrade.....:eek '. I thought My Ratings would be part of My Notes but apparently not. No doubt 'My Ratings' will disappear in the next upgrade I've never really used the Notes per se........I've started on them but always found it took too long to maintain, so I've always given up !

  2. Re: BBOTD Friday 9th March Winc 3.10 - Tarquinius - win at 7/4 bog PP I'm getting a bit bored with looking at the AW so having a crack at a staying chase for a change of scenery Tarquinius resumed his career back in december after nearly two years off and was PU on his first 3 starts back. Got the hang of things recently though with a 2nd and a win in his last 2 outings. He won quite comfortably by 13 lengths at Lingfield and the handicapper has taken that literally and stuck him up 13 lbs to 97..........but he's still not badly weighted having resumed in December on a mark of 112 and with a previous win off 107 He's a CD winner, all wins on this going and has a good 10 lb claimer up who won on him last time out (Hugh Taylor on ATR earlier this week picked out this young lad as a very accomplished jockey who's claim is a real bonus !)

  3. Re: BBOTD - Thu 8th March 2012 Wolv 7.10 - Clean bowled - win at 8/11 bog bet365 Goes for a four timer tonight and I've backed him on two of his 3 runs so I'll stick with him even though he's odds on CD winner His only real opposition is Flying Pickets, who's best in on official figures and won last time out. However he seems to reserve his best for fibresand and there is a doubt as to wether he gets this extended mile. My selection will probably go for it 2 or 3 furlongs out so his rival's stamina will be tested My record when backing odds on shots is poor but I'm hopeful of this one...........

  4. Re: Frankel - An outside perspective I agree with danby about one thing - when it comes to sprinters, Europe are miles behind Aus and the US Most of our top sprinters seem to be handicappers and when we do get a proper group class sprinter they tend to be failed Milers...........I think all our big races historically have been a Mile up to 14 furlongs and that's what our horses are bred for. We don't really breed sprinters ( a lot of our top sprinters are geldings) - our sprinters are basically horses that don't get a mile rather than specialist bred for speed Back to Frankel - Black caviar - I see that Sir Henry has pretty much said it would be great if they met but we're not going to play in your court. If you want it to happen you've got to run in a race that we are going to run in wether you're there or not

  5. Re: FLAT RACING MON 5TH MARCH

Ling 5.30 - Dancing Welcome - win at 11/2 bog bet365 Couple of non runners leaving 6 in the fillies handicap Like Richard (above) i think it's worth taking on the short priced favourite making her handicap debut. She may be a class apart and scoot in but I don't like the drop in trip on a quicker track as she was slowly away and dwelt on both her runs to date - both runs over further, she might just find things happening a bit quick for her today I'm going for Dancing Welcome who's in good nick, a CD winner, usually runs in this grade and drops back into Fillies only company where she has a much better record than when running against the boys She's probably a bit high in the weights now after a couple of recent wins but she might get away with it in todays field unless the odds on shot is a tartar The others all have doubts about them.......... Gorgeous Goblin - 14 lbs higher than his last handicap win (and that was only by a head !) Basle - up in class, up in weights for finishing 2nd Secret Queen - 9 months off, no record of going well fresh Catalinas diamond - quite like this one, up in class but lightly raced and in good nick

  7. Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd of March 4.30 Ling - Kames Park - win at 4/1 bog bet365 I don't fancy the current favourite, Broughtons Paradis, who keeps running well but looks held off his mark. The two that interest me are two of the old timers, Eagle Nebula and Kames Park and I'm finding it difficult to seperate them Both dual CD winners who've been running well in sellers/claimers I've gone with Kames Park because he ran better in the last handicap he ran in that Eagle Nebula did in his. Kames Park also has the better speed figs

  8. Re: BBOTD - Fri 2nd March Ling 4.25 - Kickingthelily - win at 6/4 bog Betvictor Having won it's maiden on fibresand it went off at big odds, 10/1, on its handicap debut on polytrack But fair scooted home to win by 3 lengths and appears to be an improving type This is a tricky little event with 3 last time out winners amongst the four runners so it won't be easy but I'll take the lily to carry on the rapid improvement

  9. Re: BBOTD Thursday 1st March Kemp 8.10 - Franco Is My Name - win at 9/4 bog Wm Hill Hasn't won for over a year and probably isn't that well handicapped - still 4 lbs above last winning mark after a losing run of 10 races However he did run a good race last time coming off a bit of a break, finishing 2nd to Layline in a class 3 twelve furlong handicap at Lingfield. Should benefit from the furlong shorter trip and return to Kempton Not only is today a lower grade but most of the opposition look either out of form or just difficult to win with. I suppose my selection could be 'difficult to win with' but at least he's in good nick and drops in grade.

  10. Re: 5 pts a day to keep the boredom away I've looked at the first 3 races at Lingers........... Banker - Anginola 2.40 - ten pounds the best of these and is the only one who's won races. 6/4 Taking on a fave - Kahfre 3.10 - bit of a cheat this one as it's now the favourite but it wasn't half an hour ago when I was looking at the race. CD winner, won this race last year, 3rd run back from break and switches back to Lingers from kempton - 11/4 Day maker - Bojangles 2.10 - going for a big one here. Has one piece of form which puts it in with a chance, beaten 3 lengths off a 10lb higher mark at salisbury. Has first time headgear and up in trip. Bit of a fingers crossed job rather than an expectation of success ! - 16/1

  11. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 28th Ling 2.40 - Anginola - win at 6/4 BlueSquare Only 4 runners in the Seller and Anginola is the only one who's won races. Is also about 10 lbs better on official ratings Ran a bit of a shocker last time in handicap company so has to be forgiven that bad run but drops down in class today. Also tried different tactics last time, trying to make all and went too fast and collapsed at the finish. Hopefully will track the pace today Moment in the Sun is in some form, having finished 2nd last time and looks the biggest danger but has looked one paced over this CD from a mark in the low 50s in class 6 handicaps On the speed figs front I've got the outsider, Pink Evie, besty on figures even though it's been well beaten - I hope that one doesn't win or I'll be cursing !

  12. Re: new standard times a.w

Thankyou Richard I do like looking at times often a good judge of how solid the form is likely to be, RP Standards have probably become slightly outdated due to the AW surface getting tired especially at Lingfield, and Southwell is always a hard one to judge because it depends how cold it gets there and how much work they do to the track also Southwell is the the one that is most effected by any dampness or rain
I think the RP update their standard times every November at the end of the turf season
  13. Re: BBOTD Monday 27th Wolv 4.00 - Country Road - win at 9/1 bog wm hill Has his 3rd run back from a break and reverts to his best trip (2 CD wins) after running over too far and too short Has been dropped 4 lbs since his return and now runs off his last winning mark Luke Morris booked Illustrious Forest looks a danger but he's shot up 20lbs for two wins and might be worth taking on
