You will have enjoyed this weekend's Match of the Day then! Lol
I don't think I've watched MotD since the 1980s ! ........ once I had Sky Sports and then BT Sports the idea of watching recorded highlights seemed a bit pointless

Anyone else a bit bored with hearing about Cheltenham before it even starts ?
Must say I avoid all mention of it on TV and radio, YouTube, all the podcasts and preview shows ........ I prefer not to think about it until tonight when I'll have a look at tomorrow's cards, as I do every day for all meetings
I'll watch the races OK ........ but just the races and I'll flick over or turn the telly off for half an hour between races. Again, something I do all the time anyway ..... I never watch the pre-race chat, the post-race chat, the in-between races chat, the interviews with trainers and jockeys have me scrambling for the mute button
To be fair I do the same with football ...... put the channel on only at kick off time, mute the sound during half time and turn over/off when the final whistle goes
I think I'm allergic to 'punditry' in all sport ......... just watch the action with your own eyes, you don't need someone else to tell you what you're about to watch or have just watched

I never listen to what any trainer says really ....... let's face it they only know about their horse
They don't know about the dozen other horses in the race
Now if a trainer was to go through a race card and give insightful opinions about every runner I might pay more attention than if he just says 'my horse is a nice horse and must have an ew chance' or other such clichés

I think they're a useful addition to the calendar for very low grade horses
If you look at today's favourite ...... Destinado. He won a Classified Stakes last time but prior to that had run in 7 handicaps off marks in the 40s and couldn't win one. There must be a lot of horses rated in the 40s who are never going to win handicaps against 50s and 60s horses even getting weight from them. These classified stakes give them an oportunity to run against horses of around the same level
Of course there will be horses like the 66/1 shots here that are never going to win any kind of race ....... but it's cheap to enter your horse in a c;lassified stakes (£40) and maybe the owner doesn't want to spend much but wants a day at the races with an owner's badge and to see his horse take part. And there's always the hope that conditions of trip, track, surface might be ideal for your horse on the day and if he could just improve by 4 or 5 lbs, a length or two over a mile, he might .......... you know, win ! The whole sport is based on Hope !
