  1. Re: Ratings and Race Entries

I'm sorry' date=' mate! Spent the past 10 minutes trying to find the site, couldn't. There is a .pdf with all the current ratings of the horses. In alphabetical order, but still the ratings are there. And probably there is a document ordered by rating. The one I once looked at is on the official site of bha, but blimey .. I can't find it.[/quote'] Is it this one.......... http://www.britishhorseracing.com/inside_horseracing/media/ratings.asp click on 'Rating - Flat & Jump' and a pdf file opens with the ratings for horses entered in handicaps..........I think the list comes out weekly. There are other file further down but I can't open them without installing some software.........but it looks like they might be the end of season lists of the best GB & Irish hosres under various categories......... I'd guess that those lists only come out at the end of the season
  2. Re: Best Bet Of The Day ~ Sunday 16th 4.00 Fontwell - Master Alf EW 28 furlongs on heavy going is a right slog, so I've taken out anything on 11 stone plus, the 6 year olds, the French breds and the old timer aged 13. left me a shortlist of Kiltimony. Master Alf and Strolling Vagabond. The handicapper appears to have 'got' Kiltimony.........29 lbs up since his last win. He's had seven runs since, not won, but the handicapper keeps putting him up. Master Alf is the unexposed one, just 4 career runs. Last time out he finished 4 lengths behind Kiltimoney and 'running on' at the finish. He's more likely to improve than the exposed ones and looks a decent EW shot..... Strolling Vagabond is a CD winner who goes on heavy ground. This years form doesn't look great .......5 runs, 3 PUs and a 96 length beating lto........but his best run was in that race won by Kiltimoney and he's now 16lbs better off for a 5L defeat. Current form is the big worry but he has his ideal conditions today, so no excuses. Just couldn't back anything with such shocking recent form This morning's prices have Kiltimony at 11/2, Strolling Vagabond at 15/2 and Master Alf at 16/1 At those odds Master Alf EW looks a decent bet

  4. Re: Enjoyed watching Cheltenham on the box

What made you stop betting for a while' date=' a big loss or something ? [/quote'] No.......I was never a big stakes chap......... Just change of circumstances........I became self-employed and thought I'd better stop betting until I had some money coming in..........then after a while I stopped watching because i wasn't betting..........
  5. Re: Enjoyed watching Cheltenham on the box My first cheltenham-watch since the days of Jodami and The Fellow........I've had a few years away from the sport.........:unsure I've loved it !!........ Seen every race ..........I watched the whole thing on Racing UK, which knocks the spots off Channel 4, and managed to fit my work around the races. The only downside was that I didn't back a single winner and managed to lose about 50 quid............:wall I'm gonna have to rethink my Cheltenham betting strategy before next time............:clap

  6. Re: Best Bet of the Day-Wednesday 12th March Chelt 3.15 Tamarinbleu, 1 point to win Several front runners in the field & the softer ground should ensure that this is a true test of stamina for the two milers. I reckon that could rule out Twist Magic and Master Minded. VPU is an obvious danger, but he's fallen into the 'finding one too good' syndrome of late.........and I think that one could be Tamarinbleu........he has the pace to go with the front runners and the stamina to kick on again as they begin to fade. Course winner, handles the hill no problem. We all saw what Tidal Bay did to the 2 milers today, I think Tamarinbleu will do the same tomorrow.

  7. Re: CHELTENHAM~Tuesday 11th March 2.00 I like Cork All Star..........he's won at cheltenham before in the hurly burly of a big race - that's a big plus in a novice race where many of them have been running in small fields at a more sedate pace. think he'll show improved form on the better ground than he usually gets in Ireland. A couple of outsiders for EW bets - Pasco and Quartano. I did tip up Quartano when he finished 3rd in a grade race LTO at 20/1........I've got a feeling about the horse !!........... 2.35 Thyne Again.......another Irish winner I reckon. He's such a beautiful big chestnut with white blazes, he looks fantastic. And he's a right galloping machine. I think there's a few in here with doubtful stamina and I can see him powering past them up the hill, probably with Tidal Bay at his side. I'd suggest those two for a forecast. 3.15 Osana would be my pick as the likely winner. He comes out of the race with Sizing Europe as the better horse when the weights are taken into account and Sizing Europe had already had a run whereas Osana was first time out. Osana then put up a terrific performance at Cheltenham on his next run. But I'm tempted with an EW bet on Ebaziyan for similar reasons to Cork All Star above.........he's done it in a big race in a big field, in the hurly burly of the festival. A lot of these horses do the rounds of the grade races which invariably have fields of 7 or 8 runners, only 3 of which can possibly win and which tend to be slow run affairs. I can see Ebaziyan coming with a late rattle up that hill !

  8. Re: BEST BET OF THE DAY - Sat 8th March... Sandown 2.05 - Forest Pennant 1 point to win Nicholls second string with a good Mr up taking 7 lbs off. Won it's last two races quite impressivley showing a good turn of foot, distance no probably, going should be OK Beat that Wind instrument quite easily and that one was second favourite before it pulled out as a non runner.

  9. Re: Best Bet of the Day - Fri 7/3/08 3.15 Sandown - Mokum, 1 point to win The grand military.......... Mokum has won it's last 2 races, both class 3, it's a CD winner, acts on the ground, a young horse, 7YO, who might be improving. It's up against a 13 year old, a Nicholls horse who looks like a real iffy jumper and a winner of a class 6 hunter chase With all these Capts and Majors I guess it's a bit of a lottery, but at 7/1 Mokum looks a good bet.

  10. Re: HI you there. Your site is very good! I like it!! Yeah..........it's not bad is it............:lol Bit quiet of an evening...........and I've noticed that there's not much interaction between the posters........people tend to post up their tips without debate.......... Check out the Cheltenham sub-forum, lot's of hard work gone into that from some of the guys, some terrific race previews. :nana

  11. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Tues 4th March 3.30 Exeter - Double Eagle - 1 point to win Just look down the list of horses that have won the races he's contested..........Tidal bay, Albertas Run, Cork All star........OK, they're races he's lost, but the fact that he's run in those races would suggest he's a cut above these others. Won LTO at Ayr by 20-odd lengths, eased down, but he's much better going right-handed. Huge step up in trip from running at around 20 furlongs up to 30 furlongs. I'm happy to take on trust that the McCain's know a stayer when they've got one. Backed in to favourite this morning suggests confidence behind the horse.

  12. Re: Best Bet of the Day~Monday 3rd March Blimey, Billy............I've just come on site to post up Le Corvee... Terrific write up there, can't disagree with it, but I'll just add one thing....... All Le Corvee's 5 wins have been in double figure fields and he is a 'held up' runner. So, on the face it, today's small field might count against him.........however all the other four runners either front-run or race prominantly. I can se the race being set up for him to pick them off at the business end Sel : Le Corvee, 3.30 Stratford, 1 point to win.

  13. Re: Best Bet of the Day Sat 1st March Kelso 4.15 - Osaka D'airy - 1 point to win Back in novice company after running against the likes of Afsoun, Straw Bear, Katchit and Blythe Knight........ His last run in a grade 2 novice race saw him 3rd to Tazbar, who's won another Grade 2 since and is possibly the best novice hurdler around, or one of them. There's a few lightly raced types here but he's got the form in the book.......and this looks easier than the usual grade races at Ascot, Newbury etc

  14. Re: Trotters Grade Race Selections. Sat 1st March -Newbury - Grade 3 Handicap Chase. Selection - Nevertika - 1 point to win Improving young horse stepping up from novice company agaist some in and out performers Has won 3 on the trot, ground, trip and course should all suit. Until he gets beaten we won't know how good he is.........he was a pretty good hurdler but looks a better chaser. Of the other fancied ones........Maljimar's trainer says he needs five weeks between races, tomorrow will be 35 days........worth taking the chance that he won't be fresh enough Regal Heights might want a stiffer test of stamina.........he tends to come from a long way back Natal........looks ok but won't be any value as the 'Nicholls' horse........probably start favourite or 3 points below what he should be. Got the 'Mr' up which always makes me think Nicholls isn't sure about the horse or is just 'giving him a run'. Might be better going right-handed.

  15. Re: Trotters Grade Race Selections. Sat 1st March - Kelso 4.15 - 18 F grade 2 Novice Hurdle Selection - Osaka D'airy - 1 point to win. The selection has had 3 tough races up against the likes of Tazbar, Khyber Kim, Afsoun, Straw Bear, Katchit and Blythe Knight.......this represents a considerable drop in class, up against horses who've been running in the class 3 and 4 novice hurdles at Kelso, Catterick and Sedgefield. Not sure that Osaka is immensely reliable, he does seem to pack in when he gets overtaken but against the class horses he's been up against, you'd hope that the jockey was just easing him when the big boys took over the race. Back in this company he should be in contention at the business end and hopefully will go through with an effort. I'd like to see him held up just behind the pace rather than tearing off in front, although Kelso is a track that suits front runners. Many of his rivals are lightly raced with no obvious form lines to the bigger races down South. Pagan Starprincess ran second to Serabad which ties in with the top 4 year old form. I'd say Quicayo is the best of the ones who've been campaigned round the northern tracks and looks a good EW bet. Scriptwriter has disappointed in 2 hurdle starts after coming with quite a big reputation off the Flat. Maybe he's just needed a couple of runs to get the hang of it. Mudawin is having his hurdle debut - another decent type off the Flat.

  16. Re: Best Bet of the Day~Friday 29/02 Newbury 3.15 - Allumee - 1 point to win Only C/D winner in the field, came back from a winter break last March and won a similar race at Newbury on his reappearance. Small trainer in cracking form with 2 winners and a second from 3 runners in the last couple of days. His main market rival, Bring Me Sunshine, looks like a stayer.......todays race should be a bit sharp for him.

  17. Re: Taunton 28/02 Taunton 2.30 - Temper Lad 0.5 points EW pretty dire race, a class 5 16 runner selling handicap hurdle* The selection has won 2 races in the last year or so, both of them class 5 selling handicap hurdles with 13 and 17 runners. He seems to be at his best at 16F on heavy ground up to 20F on good ground so todays trip/ground should be ideal. Both his recent wins have been on right-hand tracks from around the top of the handicap - joint top weight today and a claimer taking 5lb off.........both his recent wins have been with a claimer up. Last 2 runs have been in class 3 and class 4.........now back to his level and a good each way chance * As usual with 16 runner handicaps, the bookies have persuaded one to pull out ........so we're only on for 3 places.............I expect this means my selection will finish 4th, but I'll stick with it.
