  1. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 15 october Leic 2.10 - Complicit - win at 6/4 bog wm hill Going to oppose the favourite in this 3 runner conditions event. Trading Profit has the best form with a 2L defeat in the group 2 Mill Reef and a 4L 8th in the big Redcar 2yo race. But he doesn't look to be seeing out his races and doesn't have much stamina in his breeding so I think he's vulnerable stepping up to 7F on soft ground Complicit is obviously well though of as he made his debut in a Listed race. Finished 2nd on soft ground last time in one of those decent conditions races they have at Salisbury. Should be suited by 7 furlongs and acts on the ground He has been a bit of a puller in his 2 races to date so hopefully the othr 2 runners will get on with it, both have raced prominently, and he can sit in and get settled

  2. Re: Punting with £ I haven't had a bet since Royal Ascot (Duntle, Won !) I go through periods of betting and not betting and it's not actually related to my results, more on my mood I think...............:lol I find that doing the various competitions gives me reason enough and keeps me interested without betting I might get the dosh out again when the winter AW season gets underway

  3. Re: BBOTD Monday 14th October Sals 4.00 - Shamaal Nibras - win at 10/3 bog betvictor Won this race last year and the ground has now come right for him to serve up a repeat performance Has been running on unsuitable going for most of the summer as his two turf wins have been on soft and heavy. The going at Salisbury tomorrow is soft and it can get pretty desperate down there and it's no surprise that he's put in as favourite in the early prices The two horses that are next in the betting have not won over 7F, which I always think of as being a specialist's distance. They both might struggle to get the trip on soft ground and with an uphill finish The 4th fave is Magic City but he's done his winning at Goodwood and Epsom, very different tracks to this The rest look out of it

  4. Re: 1.50 York All they said during the meeting was that Fallon felt unwell and stood himself down...........one of the commentators said in passing that he had flu As for the horse the RP comments in running say.........'Held up in rear, pulled up over 7f out, lame'

  5. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

The 5:50 at Fairyhouse, today, is worth 1 euro to the winner. I thought it was a mistake but it seems to be true. Can anyone shed any light on this? It says the race is a sweepstake. The jockeys are all amateurs but there are several top trainers with runners in the race.
It appears to be related to an Irish TV reality show......'find a jockey' type of show........on the Irish language channel TG4 http://www.tg4.ie/en/programmes/jockey-eile.html
  6. Re: BBOTD Friday 11th October 4.30 Carl - Time for spring - win at 9/4 bog betvictor By elimination I've got this down to 2 Or de Grugy and Sergeant Pink do their winning on sharp or flat tracks and Harouet wants soft ground Of the two that remain both have won here but Time for Spring seems better suited t a stiff finish as all is 4 rules wins have been on right-hand racks with uphill finishes, here Ascot and Sandown. Lively Baron looks well capable of winning this as he usually runs in better races, seems to go well in small fields and comes from the powerful McCain yard. However he does seem to be ones for marathons and 3 miles on decent ground might see him a it one-paced. Both of them have a seasonal debut win to their names in the last couple of years Stable form is the clincher - Charlie Longsdon (the darling of RUK !) has his stable firing early in the season............9 winners from last 18 runners over the past couple of weeks or so

  7. Re: Best Bet Of The Day 10th Oct Thursday 7.10 Kemp - Ehtedaam - win at 6/4 bog wm hill Going to take on the fave here...........Snowboarder has good placed form in group races but ran badly last time out as though something was wrong with him. He's had a break to recover but I'd like to see him run a proper race before considering him. In any case he looks a bit one paced and sometimes finds trouble in running which is a sign of onepacedness My selection has improved lately for being gelded and wearing a hood and he's run well in 2 CD handicaps recording big speed figs. Hanagan takes the ride and he's been on for the horse's last 2 wins. Although he's been held up in his last couple of runs he has won from the front under hanagan this season and might revert to those tactics in this small field conditions race

  8. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 9th october 8.10 Kemp - Claim The Roses - win at 6/4 bog PP Going with the fave here as I can't pin down one of the others to beat him which is my usual 'modus operandi', I think all of them have a chance My selection has the best AW form having won here over a furong shorter but always looks as though 7F will suit Beau nash has run here but recorded a much worse speed fig Mime has done well at Epsom and goodwood which are very different to Kempton. he might ne OK here but he might not Finn Class looks a big danger as he's already thrashed my selection at Newmarket...........I think he's still improving but looks more of a stayer and my horse has a good turn of foot which he might be able to deploy in the finish in this small field

  9. Re: BBOTD Tues Oct 8th

2.30 Brighton - Manipulation - win at 7/2 bog bet365 Typical 2yo maiden race with a couple of horses who've finished in the first 3 or 4 in poor looking races at the head of the market but looking vulnerable to anything that might be any good My selection made his debut in a novice race at Kempton. They're generally better races than Maidens as previous winners can run in them. He was beaten about 8 lengths into 3rd, looking green, running on a bit at the finish. The trainer, Simcock, generally leaves plenty to work with on debut runs so expected to come on a lot I'm particularly impressed with Simcock's record with 2yo at Brighton - 6 winners from 14 runs in the last 5 years. It means he doesn't send many here but they know how to win, which might be more important than usual on a quirky track like this. Perhaps shows that the trainer knows what type of horse can handle the track.
Sorry BH, this is the 2.20 That's 2 days running I've put the wrong race time.............not sure what's wrong with me but at my age, it ain't gonna get better.................:unsure

  11. Re: BBOTD - Monday 7th October

Windsor 2.20 - Throne Room - win at 6/4 bog wm hill Looks a decent 2yo - half brother to 2 gru one winners in Nathaniel and Great Heavens and entered up in the big races Ran well on debut at Yarmouth and the form has been franked by the ones who finished in front of him. That looked a good race with representatives from the top Newmarket yards Should be suited by extra furlong today Always a bit tricky looking at these 2yo maiden races with unraced horses in opposition who could be anything But my selection has the profile of a second time out maiden winner
Sorry BH.............my horse is in Div 2 of this race at 2.50..............

  13. Re: Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 2013 I agree...........there's something about superstar fillies that beat the colts at the top level Gong back to Pebbles, Oh So Sharp, Salsibil..............and more recently Goldikova and Zarkava Add Treve to the list ! Did anyone see the Foret ?..............I think that was one of the visually most impressive performances I have ever seen Midnight Cloud.............you're on the list !

  14. Re: BBOTD Sunday 6th October 2.45 Hunt - Cap Elorn - win at 7/4 bog wm hill Won a Cd handicap quite easily last time to get his hat-trick up and goes for a 4-timer today Up 9lbs but he did win by 17L last time so 9lbs probably wouldn't have stopped him Had looked pretty average until a few months ago when he suddenly started winning........looking at his record the thing that stands out is that he was running over two and a half and 3 miles when he was getting well beat and his upturn in form has coincided with dropping down to around 2 miles Maybe that was the key Main danger looks to be Midnight Tuesday who could be a decent sort and is having his second run after a break. he hasn't won for a while and looks a bit tricky. Like my selection he's spent most of his career running over further but unlike my chap he's won over further and there's no reason to suspect that dropping in trip will suit him. Maybe the faster pace will help him settle

  15. Re: BBOTD Sat Oct 4th

Wolv 7.00 - ew at 16/1 bog bet365 Going for a bit of an outsider in what looks a poor handicap - though to be fair these are 3yo stepping up to middle distances and most of them will have been running over inadequate trips and will be open to improvement running over further My selection is lightly raced with just 5 career runs. His first venture into handicaps saw him beaten 40L but he did stumble after 3 furlongs then lost touch His second handicap outing was here over a furlong shorter where he ran on well to take 3rd With a couple of NRs there's now just the dead 8 and I reckon my horse has a fair chance of reaching the first 3 Has recorded a decent speed fig when well beaten at Kempton so seems like he's well suited by polytrack
I suppose should tell you the name of the horse............it's not a secret ! It's Holly Deya

  17. Re: BBOTD Friday 4th October Hexham 4.05 - Riskier - win at 9/4 bog bet365 Has a lot going for him today - CD winner, goes well fresh (143 day break), won his last 2 races, acts on any going and can front run which might ne needed in this small field. He stays further than todays trip and might want to make it a test of stamina - the best way t do that is to get out the front and make the pace The current fave, Rhymers Ha', looks a bit of a dubious stayer and might not be suited by the stiff finish here if it's a true test

  18. Re: BBOTD 2nd Oct Wednesday 8.10 Kempton - Extra Noble - win at 9/4 bog wm hill Gong to oppose the Stoute hotpot here as he's pretty much an unknown quantity and he might have been harshly treated for his maiden win, though he's likely to improve I'm going for Extra Noble - he won his maiden here then was beaten a head in a nursery. Gone up 3lbs but at least we know his allotted mark is in the right ballpark Was headed on the line at Newcastle on g/s going - this slightly easier test will, hopefully, see him get home (Must say I've committed a cardinal sin and changed my selection mid-post - I originally started typing up Art Wave. God, I hope that one doesn't win............:loon )

  19. Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 1st October Kempton 8.20 - Expert Fighter - win at 7/1 bog bet365 Godolphin are chucking 3 runners at this handicap and my selection is the outsider of the 3, based presumably largely on jockey bookings as the stable jocks are on the other 2 However my selection does have a good record at Kempton and is a CD winner Although he finished down the field last time it was a fast race and he recorded a good speed fig Fallon takes the ride and I have to expect that he'll be trying to win even though the stable jocks have picked the other ones

  20. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Great to see Tom O'Ryan back presenting on RUK yesterday - it's 4 months since the horrific accident which left him with many broken bones He can now get around with a walking stick and he looked really well in his face compared to a month ago when he was still gaunt and ill-looking
