  1. Been trying to use the Racing Post this morning but had to give up ............ they've got a really annoying red banner which pops up every time you click on anything and covers the  bottom quarter of the page

There's the usual little x to close it but it only closes it whilst you stay on that page .......... it opens again as soon as you move

It's about a hundred times more annoying than the social media buttons on here floating in from the RH side

what is it with websites these days ................ :@

I think both Winter and Churchill look god things on the Leopardstown card tomorrow. Is it just me or do they look too good to be true.

Both are proven Group 1 winners and have done little wrong in my eyes. I know the ground wont be perfect but it wont for any of them.

Both around Evens looks a tempting double?

Winter is still available at Evens this morning ........... looks pretty 'nailed on' to me !

I suppose there is a bit of a doubt over Churchill as to whether he really stayed 10 furlongs at York and he's been beaten in his last two races. I also assume the others will ride the race to make it a test with a couple of 12 furlong horses high up in the betting

I think I'd rather just stick my money on Winter rather than the double !

should be a couple of cracking races though ............ I can certainly see both the 'hotpots' winning

  3. Ballooning the jumps is always uneconomical .......... they lose a bit of time 'in the air' and also I reckon it can't be good to be landing from a greater height. It must put more strain on the legs and making a steep landing must make it more difficult to get running at racing speed again once you're on the ground. The only plus is that they're less likely to fall at the fence if they clear it by 3 feet rather than brushing through the top. Horse that brush the top can come unstuck on certain tracks that have stiff unyielding fences like Kempton. If you brush the top you're quite likely to come down.

It also makes a big difference if they jump to the inside or the outside of the optimum racing line........... ie it's worse to jump out right on a left handed track because you're jumping away from the racing line and often jockeys will take these horses to the outside of the field to avoid jumping into other horses so they'll often go a few lengths out to the right after landing and then have to be yanked back to the racing line and get back in to the pack........ often having lost a few places

Jumping left on a left handed track is not as bad because you'll be jumping into the racing line and usually have a rail to keep the horse straight and the other horses that jump straight will be sticking to the left as well so you're staying in the group
