The Punters Lounge £150 added Poker League continues throughout the summer and starts for August this week.  All games are played in the PokerStars Home Games PL Poker Club.  This month we are again running a PLO leg, so Legs 1,2 and 4 will be NLHE and Leg 3 PLO.
Leg 1 : Wednesday 8th August at 20.00 GMT in the PL Poker Club Home Game.
Leg 2 : 15th August
Leg 3 : 22nd August (PLO leg)
Leg 4 : 29th August
Buy in is $5.50 per leg.
The £150 added will be split between the top 3 players of the league end, with £75 to the league champion, £45 to 2nd and £30 to 3rd.  This will be payable via PayPal at the end of the league.  Big thank you to SirPuntalot and Punters Lounge for the added funds.  Winners will also get an exclusive PuntersLounge Mug and Pen
Your top 3 scores of the 4 legs will count towards your league total. We will be using the usual PL league format, which will be updated in this post. (The PokerStars own league scores will not be used.) Formula is -Log(position/Entrants)x100

A few years back when we had those regular variant games, Omaha, Stud, Badugi, Draw etc, I was never keen on PLO. 
I think it can take a while to adjust to the subtle differences (read also a little frustrating, I still struggle on occasions with "must use both held cards"!), but I'd say it's definately worth persisting with. I think it makes a refreshing change once you get used to it and genuinely believe you, and others, will grow to love it @thebestthere.
It's also a superb low-cost & friendly opportunity to increase our collective understanding & prowess in the variant games that are increasingly present as cheap side events in poker tours, festivals & of course online series.
Ultimately the forum will try to accomodate everyone's preferences, so do post thoughts and/or suggestions on alterative formats for consideration.

Re: MOL Vidi - Ludogorets - not related to betting!
I don't particularly like Ludogorets either but big football is big business, so if the owner is making money, then he's doing a good job. If we start black-listing "shady, rich owners", then we have to get rid of way too many of the biggest teams in Europe.
I am not sure that MOL Vidi is a good example of nice club - it's true that they have fans and history but their ownership is pretty shady. As far as I know, the owner is István Garancsi who is a close friend of the Hungarian Prime minister and has business interests in many areas, including oil and construction. He has been mentioned in scandals about the government securing cheap gas from abroad and allowing his company to sell it in Hungary; huge government contracts, etc. The main sponsor of the club is MOL, which is the local oil company - 25% of the shares owned by the state, which bought the shares from a Russian oil company. As you know, the Hungarian PM (another controversial character) is a fan of MOL Vidi and I am pretty sure he pulls a lot of strings in the club.
I used to work for a huge multi-national company with a factory in Szekesfehervar, where MOL Vidi is located. The company is bigger than MOL globally but of course its Hungarian business is much smaller than that of MOL. So the managers of this company explained to us that they would never sponsor a professional sports team. Instead they preferred to spend money on community projects. So they thought that their workers in Szekesfehervar would be happier if their kinds got a nice new public playground to play at and if the community got a new park instead of the company pouring the same amount of money into the local football club.

We tried it out in a 'week 5' as a fun leg, not part of the league.

In a nutshell, you get 4 cards and have to use just 2 of them to make the hand. You have to use these 2 cards and cannot play the board like you do in NLH (say, you're holding 7665 and there's AKQJT on board that means you have a pair of 6s with AKQ kickers). Also, it's a pot limit game so you cannot go bananas right off the bat.

Next week is our very first PLO leg. I hope everyone will give it a go and have some fun. We have 5000 chip stack, otherwise same structure as normal.  Leg is set up and registering.  Have also set up Leg 4 (NLHE) for 1st August.

It's sad to say but everything goes according to the plan... We lost two initial games and based on the pattern from previous World Cups we should beat Japan in our last group game in order to avoid total humilation - as we did in 2002 (vs USA 3-1) and in 2006 (vs Costa Rica 2-1). But somehow I don't see that happening this time around as Japan have got everything to play for and they might simply outrun us. 35-40 degrees Celcius heat is expected this afternoon which will not help us.
Some background stories:
A couple of senior players started to complain about the coach, his tactics, poor choice of the starting line up etc. Also, the story of Lewandowski got some fresh light, as it turns out he's outsider within the squad, he likes to keep to himself and does not bond with the rest of the team (a true introvert or ego issues?). 
 
I'd expect to see a new squad, with plenty of fresh faces, including Bartosz Białkowski (Ipswich Town) who's been getting raving reviews in the media throughout the season in the Championship.
I might hedge my initial, major bets but for anyone who hasn't got involved in the game yet the best bet would probably be to focus on goals, BTTS and overs would be my choice, preferably the former.

@StevieDay1983 Deep inside I'm gutted because we lost the game but in all fairness I should be saying: I told you so, didn't I ?!
We showed no balls, no creativity, with Milik being useless as a burger sandwich at a Jewish party. And it's even more painfull as Senegal did not play great football at all. Both goals that we conceded were pure gifts. First one was a deflection (with defender facing the goal and his back towards the shot - a rookie mistake) and the second goal was a gift from the 4th official who decided to let the Senegalese player come on the field right in middle of the action and unfortunately our DM decided to play a long ball towards Szczęsny (who should have stayed in goal FFS!, he was 2 meters off the ball when he got lobbed...)

It will be a tricky game on Sunday but, without any unnecessary sugercoating, I reckon we'll lose the game as well. if you follow my initial post in this thread, it's all there. And it you see Milik in the line up on Sunday, double your stakes.
