Re: Tennis - 14-20 June

Event Peter Luczak vs Marcos Baghdatis
Selection Peter Luczak +4.5 (Asian Handicap)
Strength 10/10
Date 16/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.05 (Back)
Reasoning Baghdatis comes into this tournament on the back of a bad loss to P. Petzschner last week in Halle. Marcos picked up a leg injury in that match and I'm not sure he'll be 100% for today's match. Luczak has been serving very well and I liked his stuff in the first round against Russell. Odds are silly and Baghdatis is overrated for today's match, even more so he has never beaten Luczak before. 4.5 games on Luczak is my choice and I'm pretty confident of the result here.

Event Julien Benneteau vs Dudi Sela
Selection Julien Benneteau
Strength 10/10
Date 16/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Ladbrokes @ 1.80 (Back)
Reasoning Sela has never taken even a single set from Benneteau in 3 sets and I can't see him breaking his luck today. He was lucky to win against Anderson in the first round due to opponent's retirement and just about looks tired. Benneteau has outplayed Sela pretty much all 3 times, with the last match coming earlier this year and being won by the Frenchman pretty convincingly - 6-3, 6-1. Benneteau win today as well!

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June Quite liking a lot of the matches today, so going to play five selections. - s’Hertogenbosch: Janko Tipsarevic vs Arnaud Clement - Janko Tipsarevic -2.5 games at 1.847 with Pinnacle (6pts – NAP) I feel Tipsarevic is hitting a bit of form here. Played very well against Jeremy Chardy yesterday and has a 1-0 H2H record with Clement, beating him in Metz on a quick indoor surface. Clement was very ropey against Simon Stadler in R1 – his serve and volleying were both poor, and a better player would have taken advantage. He’s just not playing at the level he was before and Tipsarevic, now that he’s got a win under his belt, could kick on here. Could be a bad match up for Clement in this one. - Eastbourne: Julien Benneteau vs Dudi Sela - Julien Benneteau at 1.73 with Boylesports (5pts) The value is slowly ekeing out of this bet so I’ve hit it at this price. Benneteau leads the H2H 3-0. None of the meetings have been on grass but they have met on a quick surface before. Benneteau got a good win over James Blake in the last round and has the game for grass – good net skills and a decent enough serve. Sela, for me, isn’t a player who can rack up two good weeks on the bounce. He dropped a set to Kevin Anderson before the South African retired and it’s clear his game doesn’t match up well with Benneteau’s. - s’Hertogenbosch: Viktor Troicki vs Santiago Giraldo - Viktor Troicki -2.5 games at 1.855 with Pinnacle (4pts) Giraldo is improving on grass but I feel he’ll struggle against Troicki in this one. The Serb has a big serve and can play on this surface, while Giraldo is definitely more of a clay courter. The Colombian still lacks a bit of experience on this surface and I feel Troicki can expose that. He beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez last week before losing to Philipp Petzschner, who made the semis in Halle. I feel he plays at higher level to Giraldo on this surface and should be able to cover this handicap. - Eastbourne: Nicolas Almagro vs Denis Istomin - Denis Istomin at 1.80 with Canbet (4pts) I was hoping Istomin might be more of a price here, but 1.80 is in my remit so I’m going for it. I think he’s the better of the two players on grass. Almagro gave away too many breaks yesterday against Lukasz Kubot for my liking and isn’t really a grass court player – good serve but ball bounces too low and fast for him to generate his loopy, vicious groundstrokes. Istomin’s been playing well on this surface, took Rafael Nadal close last week and demolished Eduardo Schwank in R1 here. Feel he has the edge in this one and is more accustomed and shrewd on this surface. Happy to play him. - s’Hertogenbosch: Benjamin Becker vs Henri Kontinen - Under 20.5 games at 2.14 with Pinnacle (3pts) Feel this line is generous when you consider Becker is on a -5 game handicap to win this. Can’t really see too many problems for Becker in this one. Maybe fatigue after three sets with Jarkko Nieminen yesterday but he should have too much about him for this Finn. Kontinen took out Dustin Brown in R1 but Becker has a lot more in his locker – big serve, good forehand and decent net play. Won this tournament last year so has plenty to defend. 6-4 6-4 would cover this and can see Becker being able to break down his inexperienced opponent. :hope

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June shaui zhang to beat severine beltrame at 8-11!!powers 2 points beltrame had her best result here at wimbledon a good few years back when she reached the 4th round but she's the wrong side of thirty now and a shadow of her former self!! her form this year has been awful! she's lost to the likes of ungar, chaknashvili, tetreault, zahlavova, anna smith, picquoin, fichman and in front of her home crowd at the french qualifiers she lost to aniko kapros who is a very average player indeed! she might be living off her past glories a litttle with the bookies on this one!! zhang on the other hand has been in good shape this year!!she qualified for the french this year beating vidagany and zuzanna kucova on the way before finding petrova way too good!recently she won a challenger in maribor beating the likes of voracova, pervak and pous tio!she's a pretty flat hitter and i dont see why her game cant translate to grass! she's not the most reliable of course and can be error prone but i think her comfortable victory in the first round against tashvili is a good sign and i am happy to take her against a woefully out of form beltrame who could even have one eye on retirement if she keeps going at this rate!

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June Yu Hsun Lu v Alexandr Dolgopolov Alexandr Dolgopolov (Betfair @ 2.20) To be honest, i see this as a 50-50 match.Lu has definetly more experiences on faster surfaces, he plays bunch of challengers through year on hard, rarely goes on clay and has some challengers in his pockett but Ukrainian came out of the shadow just recently by good performances in Madrid, RG and generally he feels more comfortable on clay. Still, i watched him couple of times and he has some attributes which can be used on faster surfaces as well. His serve is not so bad, i would even say that Lu is not serving better, his baseline shots are powerful and accurate-for a player which is 47th on ATP list of course. He can surely make this game very close, so 2.20 seems pretty nice.

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June just a few more tips here! 1) alexander peya to beat kevin kim at 4-7 paddypower 2 points over the course of his career peyas best surface has probably been grass! he has qualified for wimbledon on numerous occasions and last year gave tommy haas a really tough match! kim has been in poor form this year and his first round victory against philip oswald doesnt impress me too much as it went to 16-14 in the third! all oswald can do is serve big......the man can barely keep the ball in play! peyas form this year seems decent and he relsihes the grass so i think this is a generous price against his the out-of-form veteran! greta arn to beat madison brengle at 6-5!bet365 2 points i really like this bet!! brengle had a big reputation as a junior but has never even come close to fulfilling her potential over the last few years and the truth is she is still carrying a bit of weight and her movement is suspect! her form isn't too impressive either!! most recently she got hammered by diatchenko in birmingham! in notthingham the week before she was hammered by carly gullickson!!in grado she was hemmered by xinyun han and halep hammered her in the french open qualifiers!arn on the other hand has some good form....she reached the final of warsaw a few weeks ago (a tier one event) beating the likes of martic, zakopalova and bondarenko before finding zheng too good in the final in two tight sets! last year she reached the 3rd round of the wimbledon qualifiers losing a tough 3 setter to parra snatonja who then went on to beat tanasugarn and push grass court specialist sugiyama tough!! so signs are that arn can play on grass also! she's experienced and a good battler and for me there is no way she should be considered underdog in this one so i am going to take her at 6-5!

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June Benneteau throwing in a poor one it seems Atko. My rule usually is never to back him at odds-on price but broke that against Anderson(which he won) and again today. Never again though. Hantuchova going down to Stosur aswell......girl is so mentally weak in tight moments it's untrue. Rock solid on serve until 3-3, giving nothing away and actually missing 2 or 3 chances to convert break points. Set gets tight and her 1st serve is gone, broken twice in succession............:lol Definitely staying away until Wimbledon after today.

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June Not done a whole lot on grass, but still has a 58% winning record on the surface(29w-21l). And I've not seen her play the top players on this surface. She can serve unlike most of the Womens tour and has a big weapon to finish points.....I'd say she does better on clay because she gets a higher bounce on that serve making it tougher to return, and the speed of clay allows her to run around her opponents shots to hit her forehand, things she can't do on faster courts. As I said, big serve and forehand are 2 of the most important shots on all surfaces so she could be dangerous....wait for the draw I guess mate. In theory I see no reason why she can't have a good tournament but not shocked to see a borefest with the Williams sisters in the final.

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June

Elena Baltacha v Jie Zheng Selection Jie Zheng -3.5 (Asian Handicap)
Strength 10/10
Date 16/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Expekt @ 1.85 (Back)
Reasoning Zheng a clear favorite here and should be winning pretty easily. Baltacha benefited from Li's retirement yesterday but today she is not going to have any luck. Zheng is very good on return game and taking the fact that Baltacha has shaky serve Zheng will be all over her. I can see this match being very one-sided and won by Zheng, besides covering this handicap.

Event Nicolas Almagro vs Denis Istomin
Selection Nicolas Almagro
Strength 10/10
Date 16/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.15 (Back)
Reasoning How on earth can Almagro be an underdog here? I don't get. He is higher ranked and has better all round game. Yes, Istomin has improved a lot in the past weeks but he still should not be rated as a favorite in a match against player of Almagro class. I'm not having that. Almagro has a tendency to play messy tennis but the most important thing is the end result. No way Almagro an underdog here!

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June

I know this isnt tennis from this week but it's a quick note an outright for Wimbledon which I think looks like a good price. Victoria Azarenka @ 101 with SportingBet - and I feel that's a ridiculous price. I thought she'd go down massively if she won today against Radwanska but no, still 100s available. She hasnt had the best season but she's still in the top 15 in the world which means a decent seeding and she reached the last 8 at Wimbledon last year losing to Serena Williams. Beating Radwankska was impressive, first of all in the manner 7-6 6-1, second of all because she is the no.8 in the world, and thirdly because Radwanska is no mug on a grass court (won junior Wimbledon, won at Eastbourne and reached the quarter finals at Wimbledon for the last two years). Just feel she is incredibly overpriced seeing as others are offering her at 20s! GL:hope
After her dismantling of the young brit Heather Watson today, she is now a best priced 40/1 and sportingbet actually cut her straight to 20s! Feeling like 100s was definitely the right time to get on! :hope

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June We've got to 1/4finals finally and let the real thing begin. Last 8 matches in Hertogenbosch ATP look to be fine. I have got choices from all 4 matches. Let's see how it works.

Event Santiago Giraldo vs Sergiy Stakhovsky
Selection Santiago Giraldo
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 1.94 (Back)
Reasoning Typical 50/50 match which could go either way but I'm sticking with Giraldo. The Colombian has impressed me more and has beaten quality opponents, especially Troicki yesterday. Giraldo is serving very well all week long which can not be said about Stakhovsky. The Ukrainian has ups and downs and will be vulnerable today. This will very close match but I fell that Giraldo just has got a little bit of edge here.
Event Alejandro Falla vs Xavier Malisse
Selection Alejandro Falla
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.42 (Back)
Reasoning Falla in great form at this event. First round was a bit boring win against Serra who made a mess but match against Ivan Ljubicic was mighty impressive with Falla winning in two sets and coming back from 3-5 down in the 2nd set. Malisse is in his 2nd consecutive 1/4 final. He lost last week at this stage in London and most likely will lose today again. He had a mighty escape against poor Daniel Brands in last round. The German failed to serve out the match. Malisse will be more exhausted and that will play big part. Falla for me very much so underrated.
Selection Benjamin Becker -1.5 sets (Asian Handicap)
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Expekt @ 2.00 (Back)
Reasoning Becker has got clear advantage here. He can serve better and most importantly his return game is shoulder above Greul. Simon should have lost in the first round when he came back from 0-3 down in both sets against Haase. Yesterday's win against crap Tommy Robredo is just for the record books nothing More. Becker to win 2-0!
Event Janko Tipsarevic vs Peter Luczak
Selection Peter Luczak
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 2.84 (Back)
Reasoning I don't get it. Luczak has destroyed fit Baghdatis and still is rated such an underdog. It's totally wrong! Tipsarevic was lucky against Chardy who didn't want to play then lost a set against old dude Clement. He's played two matches already in this tournament. This is the first time since February in Dubai that he has completed two matches. The lack of match practice could be decisive here. Luczak's serve looks very impressive and baseline game does the job as well. Tipsarevic has several weaknesses. Wouldn't be surprised if he threw this match away. Certainly odds are to high to be missed.

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June Here are 3 more and I'll have handicaps on Kim and Stosur tomorrow as well. Just have to see what is offered.

Selection Michael Llodra -1.5 sets (Asian Handicap)
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Paddy Power @ 2.10 (Back)
Reasoning Llodra owns Simon and has beaten him all 4 times they have played loosing just one set in the process. Simon is coming back from a long term injury and is looking very poor. He has played two demanding 3-setter and surely will be tired. Llodra can use his serve very well on grass as he usually does on indoor surfaces. I can see this match being won in two sets by Llodra. Not sure Simon will have many chances to break his compatriot but on the other hand he is vulnerable on his own serve. even if gets to tie-break Llodra will have an advantage as he has won 3/4 tie-breaks. So 2-0 it is for Llodra.
Event Dominika Cibulkova vs Kirsten Flipkens
Selection Dominika Cibulkova
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 1.65 (Back)
Reasoning Cibulkova doesn't need much of an introduction here. She has been a bit unconvincing, especially in some parts of the second set against Rus in the previous round but she managed to get a result which is the most important thing. Cilbukova has beaten Fliplens pretty easily in both of their meetings and I'm expecting another win today.
Event Ekaterina Makarova vs Svetlana Kuznetsova
Selection Svetlana Kuznetsova
Strength 10/10
Date 17/06/2010
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.71 (Back)
Reasoning Lots of struggling for Kuznetsova but she has managed to get two wins though they have been very tough. That will be massive confidence booster for her. Makarova has surprised a lot this week but I reckon it's more due to the fact that number of players aren't taking this tournament seriously. Kuznetsova is and will take this match seriously as well. She is an incredible fighter and great competitor. Price is quite good know huge difference in the class between these two.

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June martin fischer to beat ramon delgado at 4-5 powers 3 points! i really fancy this bet!! fischer is in fine form of late!! he qualified for the french open beating some good players on the way (ramirez hidalgo-clay court specialist and even more impressively the talented latvian berankis in the last round of qualifying) he then had an epic 5 setter with established main tour pro and match player horacio zeballos losing 8-6 in the 5th! He has carried that form very well into the grass court season it seems! he has qualified fairly comfortably beating both hrbaty(who in fairness doesn't like the grass) and phau both in straight sets! i have only seen him play once indoors against hernych a few months ago which he lost but he showede a lot of potential in that match!! his serving was absolutely woeful and it cost him the match in the end but he returns very well, is very solid off the ground and seems to thrive off that bit of pace so i think the grass should suit him! and judging by his recent good form he must havbe sorted out the serving difficulties! delgado is a solid old veteran with plenty of fight in him! at 34 he's been around a long time, and he had somewhat of a renaissance in his career at the end of last season when he one a couple of challengers!! this season has been solid if not spectacular....the only results of note are a win over berankis early in the year which is solid in fairness....he also beat an out of form brands and a just-back-from-injury andreas beck but other than that he hasn't done a whole lot!! he was beaten in the australian open qualifiers by suzuki and in the french open qualies by mannarino!! he hasn't played in or qualified for a main draw of a grand slam since 2003!! and even in his prime he never got past the first round at wimbledon!! he has reached this last round of the qualifiers with a typically gritty 3 set win over journeyman de chaunac but i think that fischer will be a step up in class for ramon and over a best of 5 set format i think he'll ultimately find fischer too hot to handle!

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June julian reister to beat brendan evans at 11-10 paddypowers 2 points very surprised that reister is considered the underdog in this one! he is just coming off the back of an excellent run at the french open and should be brimming with confidence!! at the french open he walsed through the qualifiers and indeed the first two rounds beating volandri, niland, berlocq, feliciano lopez and olivier rochus before falling to king roger himself (he was competitive for two sets against roger...fell apart in the second)!! he has a big serve which should serve him well on the grass! he seems as though he has made the transition to grass fairly smoothly and he has walsed through the first two rounds so far (reminiscent of his french open run)! he beat mertens and andrej martin both in straight sets!! it is worth noting that both these players are fairly poor opponents and that he did get a lucky draw but the fact that he beat them comfortably bodes well! evans will be a tougher test for him and it certainly will be tough for him to break evans serve although i don't think he minds playing against serve and volleys with big serves judging by the way he hammered feliciano lopez in the french! of course grass is different but i still think the jury is still out on evans!! there is no doubt that his game is well suited to grass and he won a challenger in nottingham last year beating bozoljac in the final but he hasn't really proved himself at this level yet! his form this year has been very poor to say the least!! he could barely win a match for the first few months getting beat by the likes of valent, oswald, kim, hocevar and kondo to name a few and so far in the grass court season he has lost to stadler and noam okun...hardly worldbeaters! (though he did beat hernych and ghedin) in fairness, he's also done well to get to the final round of the qualifyiers beating paire and ito both in three sets but paire has no grass court experience really and ito is a journeyman! it's also worth noting that he lost both tiebreaks in those matches and i would have a feeling if this match gets close evans would be more likely to get tight than the confident reister! he lost in qualifying to luca gregorc last year when he was in better form and he's never qualified legitimately for any slam before...it's abig game for him and maybe he'll rise to the challenge but i think all the signs that i've analysed point to a reister win and especially the fact that reister is underdog here it makes him much more backable!! 2 points

Re: Tennis - 14-20 June berankis- dent double at 5-6 paddypowers 2 points! berankis has been in impressive form of late! he won a challenger last week on grass beating some good players (dancevic, anderson, harrison, marrino and soeda in the final) he is a young motivated lads from latvia and he seems to have good mantal strength as well as solid groundstrokes! i saw him against phau and verdasco earlier on in the year and i was very impressed with his application...he plays with a lot of maturity! he appears to love the grass and has coasted through to this round beating harrison and evans! ventura has never liked the grass and he benefited from a cushy draw to get to this stage of the qualifiers (prodona and cipolla) but i just can't see him living with berankis on this surface!! dent is playing ebden and even though i really dont like the 3-10 price on him i think he's worth sticking in the accumulator!! Ebden has some decent results this year at challenger level but if dent is at all serious about getting back where he belongs in the main draws of grandslams, he shouldnt be losing to a guy like ebdon! the way he has walsed through qualifying so far is a good sign that he's playing well and motivated and i would be very surprised if he didnt win this one!! i also like ilhan to beat karanusic but 1-2 isn't a very nice price!
