Danny welbeck and Steven Taylor have been withdrwan from the England squad due to injuries. I still personally think that england have great chance of wining this tournament ???/ What you guys think ??

England squad does look strong in most areas, particuarly at the back, however the narrow 5-4 play-off win over wales means there is cause for concern in backing them..dont suppose anyone will be making any rash judgements over tournament chances till after the first round of group games anyhow.. Spain are prob favourites I would imagine without looking at any odds, they flew through qualifing I believe winning every match, and that squad is impressive.. How strong is that German squad? I dont know much about German football but that squad doesnt jump out at me as particuarly great..know there are plenty of German punters on here so sure they can tell us more, tempted by that 2.1 on Spain for the first game though at first glance..

I don't know much about all teams, but what I can see from German squad is really strong defense with already proven BL players like Höwedes, Aogo, Boateng, Hummels or Beck & very talented young goalkeeper Neuer from Schalke. Would be surprised if this team concedes many goals in this tournament... I've watched them against Italy U21(friendly) and honestly I'm not too much impressed by them either, but they do have some very good and exciting players(Ozil, Khedira, Marin, Ebert,...), and when it comes to physical condition they're probably the most prepared team in the tournament.They've simply crushed Italy with the high-tempo football.A typical German stuffs I guess.Not the most exciting team to watch, but they're very direct, clinical and effective.Surely one of the favourites to win it outright. In the last Euro U21 in Holland, being affected by the squad, I backed "England to win it outright", but they've been piss poor and extremely lucky to pass the group stage, let alone something more.The present England squad doesn't look any stronger than the one from last European Championship(Scott Carson, Huddlestone, Ashley Young, Milner, Reo-Coker, Hoyte, Taylor, Lita, Onuoha, Routledge, Kieran Richardson, etc...), so I wouldn't rush when it comes to their chances. Italy had by far the most powerful team in the last Euro U21 in Holland, with the likes of Aquilani, Pazzini, Montolivo, Chiellini, Giuseppe Rossi, Rosina,..., but they failed in the group stage already.They should be able to reach the next round this time, but I really can't see them going all the way.A very limited team IMO, lead by Juventus' Giovinco and Inter's Balotelli and from what I saw in the Germany match, they're nowhere near being a serious title contenders.But,...Italy never impress, but still always make great results and are still the most succesfull nation at this level, so I wouldn't underestimate them. As for Serbia, they've reached the semis and 2 finals in the last 3 European Championship U21, they're one of the most consistent teams at this level and everyone around the team expect to see them going all the way and taking the title at last.The present squad seems to be weaker at the back due to one-year suspension(at international level) of Rajkovic(Chelsea; on loan to Twente I think), while Subotic(Borussia Dortmund) decided not to take a part in the Euro U21, though NT regular player Obradovic(huge prospect) will be included in the squad.But, the main power lies in midfield anyway, with the likes of Matic, Milinkovic, Tosic, Smiljanic, Kacar(Player to Watch), Sulejmani(left winger, but likely to play up front),...Serbia have surely got one of the best midfield lines in this tournament.The Serbian coach is not bad, but still he doesn't fill anyone with the confidence though and could be the biggest problem here, but I can't see him messing up with lineup too much.It's probably gonna be a fight between Italy, Sweden and Serbia in Group A.

England should have by far the strongest defense in this tournament, a back 4 of Richards, Gibbs, Mancienne and Onuoha will be very difficult for U21 teams to break down. However, I think their striking options are relatively weak, with Agbonlahor being in poor form and the grossly overrated Theo Walcott also misfiring of late. I had originally thought that Spain were going to be by far the best team in this tournament, but they have lost their two best players (Pique and Mata) to the senior squad, so I would now be a little more hesitant in backing them.

That said, it'll probably be one of those sides that wins it although I expect Serbia to be a bit of a dark horse with some very good players in their ranks. I also expect to see Pontus Wernblom of Sweden to show how good he is in this tournament and make sides wish they'd bought him before AZ Alkmaar got their hands on him!

I am a bit worried about Englands back 4, a very powerful and pacy set of players, at this level the other teams might have a bit more technical nous. Looking forward to this tournament.
I think England's back 4 is the last thing you should be worried about, they are all proven Premiership performers. As at all age levels, England's problems lie in their lack of technical ability in midfield and attack.

Could prove to be a massive value.Serbia forward Djordjevic(the only real forward - target man) got injured a couple of days ago and will miss the european championship.With Sulejmani being a left-winger(but will probably be used as a forward) Serbia simply have no much real options up front. Kacar is a bit of an all-rounder.He used to play as a defender, a midfielder and a forward.It wouldn't be the first time for him to play up front.He did it a number of times, and he's already shown his goal-scoring abillites on many occasions in Bundesliga.Not so long ago he scored 5 goals in a 8:1 win over Hungary in the Euro U21 Qualifying match.So, due to lack of choices up front, I wouldn't be surprised if he joins Sulejmani up front(if coach Krcmarevic decides to play with two forwards). Re: UEFA European Championship U21 (Sweden :: 15.-29.06.) I agree that Kacar is good value at 25/1; he scored lots in qualifying and will be an important player for Serbia. I personally also see value in Jurado to be top goal scorer, also at 25/1 (www.skybet.com). He is listed as a midfielder, but frequently plays in an advanced role. He has had an excellent season for Mallorca (9 goals, 9 assists), and I think he should be one of the main sources of goals for the Spanish.

ReasoningA cracking game is on the cards here on the opening day of the U21 Euros with two of the best footballing nations in the world going head to head. For me, Spain are head and shoulders above in the world of football these days. The Germans were not impressive in qualifying for this tournament and I just feel Germany and football are very much overrated these days. Whatever the outcome, I can't see the Spanish losing this one so am willing to lay the Germans at 5/2.

And despite off theres no one we would call "Knipser" in our offense. But there's Ashkan "Dynamite" Dejagah, i don't like him that much but he's a great scorer , proofing his ability qquite a lot times especially against Hannover 96 My betting 's going to be: Germany for European Champion

Now this tournament has been reduced to 8 teams (first time since 92 I think) it will have eliminated the group whipping boys that normally rear their heads in these tournaments..with this in mind I think im going for draws in the spain and serbia games, the opening games are always likely to be cagey..I wont be putting any big bets on yet anyhow, want to see all the teams play first, but cant imagine there will be much between the teams..

England are WAY too weak at the moment, both offensivelly and defensivelly.No creativity, no big goal opportunities,...It was a big nothing. Theo Walcott is yet to be seen in this match.
