JulioArca
I have trip to Spain coming up shortly and was wondering if there was anywhere to get a game in (as you do). I will be staying around the Marbella area but will have a hire car to get me to Gibraltar or wherever. Any info would be appreciated. :cheers
avongirl
Re: Live Poker in Spain Colette from Stan James (runawaytrain) can probably advise you where to get a game in Gib. :ok
BAM
Re: Live Poker in Spain There's a big Gala casino down by the harbour side on Gib, that has regular poker tourneys. I went this summer, very nice casino but I didn't play any poker :eyes. Gib is about an hour from Marbella and remember it is GBP
Woodie
Re: Live Poker in Spain There's a good game on friday in estapona in a little bar I have the address if you want it. Theres also a poker club which is a 20 minute drive from the centre of malaga so I'd guess about an hour drive from marbella where I've played before very nice club I got the address for that to pm me if you want them. CKitty
Re: Live Poker in Spain I thought the Gala Casino wasn't open for poker until after the 22nd in Gibraltar as i looked into it for when I'm out there for the stan james tourney coming up shortly. GB80
Re: Live Poker in Spain I think it's either already open, or just moving to a new building from what I can work out. I've also been looking, as I may be in Gibraltar myself next weekend.

tc7777
Re: Live Poker in Spain Also this info re location Hi Tony, I’d recommend you take a taxi to the old casino, as a walk can prove a bit tiring. Taxi shouldn’t cost more than a fiver and the drive should take no more than 5 mins. Let me know if you need anything else. Kind regards, Nick Diaz Poker Manager

beanolizzy
Re: Live Poker in Spain Wish I could have helped you with some info as brother lives on the costa del crime (forced to live there for the past 25 years!) but unfortunatey he is indisposed working for King Juan Carlos for the next five years. Torrequebrada (benalmadena) and Marbella casinos host regular events nearer than Gib but worth the trip to gib for a game or two.

JulioArca
Re: Live Poker in Spain Entered the 20 Euro freezeout at the Gala in Gibraltar, got there early just in case, need not have bothered as I was on my own. Registered just after 8pm to be told that it would be starting at 9pm as a load of players didnt get there till after 8:30pm. Went to watch the football and wandered back to the card room just before 9pm, to see the clock running down and my blinds being picked off. Nineteen runners only on two tables. Clock freezes 16 minutes in to the first level whilst they rebalance the tables to three as two more players had turned up. This is well run I thought (not). Anyway played solid and made it to the last 6 when I called my fellow short stackers allin with ATo with 66. Big Blind tanked for a while and I made the mistake of appearing not all that strong and he called both of us with AQo. Was in front till the rivered Queen. Paid top 3 with £220 to winner, £130 for 2nd and £90 for 3rd. Apperently there was a 15 euro game in Calahonda on Fridays which sold out but I didn't get time to go.
