Re: Big Weekend No.1 I havnt included it, and call me crazy if you will, but I was rather tempted by TOR to beat NYY @ 2.95/1. NYY have a weak starting pitcher up against a guy making his major league debut. Good record in the minors and these guys can sometimes cause upsets as batters don't know what to expect from him. Either that or they get hit out of the park. Sheffield is missing from the NYY lineup too. TOR are 7-9 at Yankee stadium in the last 2 years which isnt bad considering they're usually awful away from the Skydome. If you fancy a speculative punt this would be my tip but I think I'm going to leave it alone. Re: Big Weekend No.1 WTFE - I would take extreme caution over backing BOS at the moment for a number of reasons: 1)They've been hideous in the last 3 games - watched the game last night and have to say, thank god the wild card race is almost sewn up. Also the way baseball goes there had to be a slump after that run of 12-1 2)BAL - think i said this in an early thread but they seem to have a mental issue with BAL who are only an average team. Shilling picthing tonight is perhaps the most likely guy to pull them out of 3 straight loses but Rodrigo pitching for BAL has an amazing record against BOS so beware 3)There already thinking about the post season rotation , a couple more wins and its all over so don't expect to see any players/pitchers being over extended right now. Actually think BAL are great 'value' (and yes i do understand that concept!!) :lol tonight at 3.60

I pray to God Im wrong with this one but Ive also gone for the Yankees. Close match up on the mound but Mussina's gone 3-0 with a 0.78 ERA in his last 3. Also BOS hitters dont like him, Ramirez 13-71(.183),Ortiz 2-26(0.77),Varitek 4-41(0.98). On top of this, A-Rod has gone 8-24 in last 7 days with 2 HR and 7 RBI. HOU get the thumbs up against a poor Brewers side and as do the unders in that game with the great Roger Clemens taking the mound. Star bet of the night though goes to BAL. After splitting a series with the Redsox they're coming home off a 10 day roadtrip which saw them go 6-4. Main man Tejada is hot going 10-27 in the last 7 days with 3 HR and 8 RBI. Santana fever strikes again as he only gives up 2 hits in 6 innings as MIN stroll to a win. Pity the bats were swinging just as well as Santana's arm. Clemens didn't pick up his 19th win of the season but did pitch a shutout for 7 innings as HOU went on to win in overtime. Baseball "System" Nothing takes the eye tonight. I think with the season coming to an end it's getting harder to call games. Post Season Picks Red Sox guaranteed the wildcard spot last night :clap :clap :clap Right now looks like the playoffs will span out like this: AL NYY .v. OAK/ANA (favour OAK here) MIN .v. BOS NL STL .v. CHC/SF (favour Cubs right now) ATL .v. LA ALCS: NYY .v. BOS NLCS: STL .v. LA World Series: Very tough to call , STL are the best all round team in baseball but I'd be very concerned that they haven't been tested this season in a real pressure environment, also there pitching is the one question mark and that can be crucial in the playoffs. Can see BOS beating NYY and going all the way but we all know about that particular rivalry. That said the team I think might cause an upset and go all the way is LA , no-one is really paying that much attention but they have great pitching for the post season and have improved their hitting enough to get a few runs + they have arguably the best closer in the game. Ultimately the world series often comes down to having a great closer who can handle the pressure or a starter who can throw 9 innings Anyway my heartfelt pick is BOS at 4.00, with possibly some value on LA at 13.00 Anyone else care to play ?
