WorkingForTheEnemy Posted July 13, 2004 Share Posted July 13, 2004 I've decided to start posting a "system" for baseball. It will be a free style system using teams I feel will win. The basic factors for choice will be decided by team and player form figures. I suspect pitcher stats will play quite a strong part in it too. I will be using a level staking system of 2pts per bet. Although no proper recording of previous results has been made, I am fairly confident I can make a profit and will be backing these bets myself but would advise caution if you choose to follow suit. I will post bets when I see appropiate but would expect at least one bet most days. Time of bet will be stated as UK off time which will usually be early hours of morning, so most bets will actually be posted day before. I intend to update the bank and results after each bet/set of bets. Although free-style hopefully this system can still be used in the comparison table as most other factors are fairly standard. Any rules that may be created during the running will be revealed and included if or when they occur. I intend to start running this system as from 15th July, after the All Star game and a day break. He sure seems to know what he's talking about. I'm currently reading one of the books they have available: 'Education of a sports bettor' by Bob McCune, love it, recommend it to anyone. If so I will keep a total record on a regular basis and once a fortnight/month analysis the total and each set seperate to see if one produces better results than the other. He’s actually the only tipster I have ever seriously considered subscribeing to. Some great stories on the site. Re the McCune book I thought it was only about US sports handicapping. Does it have more general application? I love all gambling books not necessarily ones of direct applicability to me as long as they are interesting / well written. Its a bit like sitting in a series of lectures, or even a dad telling his son about sports betting. Bob McCune is american and therefore tells his life story and his experiances in a context of american sports and the american sports betting history (las vegas books). But this book is more about sports betting in general written from personal experience as professional bettor. The translation from american money line to european odds is easily made. He covers sports betting in general and obviously ends with american sports, but the general info can be applied to any sport. I've done this and they have long losing runs as well as the occasional good runs as well. I don't believe they make a profit in the long haul from all the tips supplied in the newsletter (if anyones interested I can send them the details of the tracking data I have). *However* I think there is a fair chance of making a profit by following their NFL advice which starts fairly soon but again I don't think a profit is guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination every NFL season. If I had to choose a team, Id slightly favour the AL. Sides seem very even but I think they may be a little better off. History is on their side and it's the better price too. But Im going to ignore this market and focus on the over and unders. Both sides have got some big hitters in their team and I can see a high scoring game here so the bet were going with is over. Ive seen the time quoted as 8pm ET(1am). Betfair say bet til 1.05 but Hills say 1.35. Ill say 1am just to be on the safe side.This will be the case for similiar situations in the future too.
