You could be right but every time I look at tweaking it comes out with worse results. This year, as things stand, is showing a very bad comparison to last year but in fairness it is just this last month that has happened as only recently it was fairing very comparably. To give an idea,

This was yesterday so after today will look even worse. As I write this yet another gamble is landed (not one of mine thank god!). Seems absolutely incredible how many horses are getting backed in so heavily in the last few minutes which then go on to win. My next horse Three Lions has come in by a couple points since laying 9.2:eyes Maybe it happens in fits and starts?:unsure Probably have another winner tonight as laying Quaglino at 5's Bound to go off 2/1 and win by 30 lengths.......or a neck:eyes

Look at your last few days and see where you have been going wrong.As danny says it might just need a few tweaks here and there. maybe do less horses as danny says, at least you will be able to refine your picks a little better. Trust me, I keep trying to tweak what I have but the big picture is always worse. Thing is I know next to nothing about horses and this is purely an experiment to see if looking at the stats and following a set criteria I can place my lays in the middle of a busy working day and come out on top. For a while it was working and maybe it will again but this is just very hard to take. Fully expecting another winner in the 9.20 as I'm close on price to laying around 5-6 horses that all fit the criteria.:$ Which ones to leave out...?! Well that's a good question that I don't know the answer to:(

Also remember that with a laying system such as this you won't know if it's good until you have at least a year's actual results. It's a very long term thing. Stick with it mate. :hope

Don't worry I'm going to:ok From a little investigation carried out I can't believe the difference made when removing races containing only 8 runners. To give you an idea, from just over 900 selections the SP return is a pitiful 59 points. Bearing in mind it's nigh on impossible I'm going to be able to lay to SP most of the time and will have to contend with frequent gambles....that's a losing proposition for sure. Still, it's only through trial and error when things start going wrong that these things start to stand out more and more in a most glaring fashion:\ Starting today - Only races containing at least 9 horses can be qualified as a selection/lay

Despite the continued insistence that laying multiple horses in a race is where I'm going wrong and that really I should have one or two max, it should be pointed out that yesterdays winning horses were all in races where only 2 horses had been layed. There have been several examples (yesterday's being the best by far) of how multiple laying in one race is not necessarily a bad thing. I will repeat that in the 9:20 last night I layed 6 horses within my price range...and all successfuly lost. If there's tweaking to be done I remain confident that it isn't within the number of horses thrown up either in total or in the one race.

Oh I see what you mean. All I can tell you is that by including maidens I open myself up to a few more winners and when I'm struggling to get the right price on a shoestring budget it's not right move. Already planned on looking into it further IF my bank is able to sustain this extremely rocky patch and actually grow:unsure

Think that's more to do with a problem on horseracebase in the morning before I posted rather than any great changes. Missed 1x 10/1 horse but gained 6x over 10/1 in addition to the 11/1 loser which helps soften things a bit. So.......here we are again......back where I started but still pushing my luck with a stake which really needs a much larger bank. Not even going to bother commenting about what could happen tomorrow and what I need to happen and what is due and things balancing out. Basically.....screw it.....I'll keep plodding on and see how things turn out. Don't know any other way to do it so why pretend haha!! It either works or it doesn't. Find out in the long run:\

Can anybody tell me if there is an easier way of doing mass updates at the end of each day then going through with a manual fine toothcomb? That part of this more than anything is getting to become a real chore. Yesterday it took me over 2 hours to do just 2 days worth. Open betfair statement, open http://form.horseracing.betfair.com/, open laying spreadsheet....and then proceed to go through every single potential selection, noting NR's, prices that didn't come within 11.5, horses that for one reason or another became a non qualifier leading up to the race....as well as those of course which I actually did manage to lay? It's turning into a full time evening job....when I get home from work:unsure

Clearly I can't continue like this forever as I've found what appears to be a really good system on paper which is almost impossible to recreate in reality. And is taking me decades to keep up to date records. Which is not to say that I'm giving up on this entirely because I'm not. Changes have to be made though (refinements), cutoff needs to be revised and various other things... Watch this space for laying attempt 4:lol:$

I must admit it does take alot of work, so i can understand where you are comming from in that repect. It has taken me around 3 days just to start the thread,and i am sure i will have to alter thing's as i go along. If i do not double my bank in 1000 bets i will have to look at it again. (If it last's that long :lol) I have done a vast amount of research on different systems, all i do is sit here all day everyday sometimes 14 hours a day on my computer as i am dedicated in finding the right system. So comon mate, chin up,re-group and start again. I am sure you will get there.:ok

Is this system still working on paper?! Have you taken into account prices on exchanges as opposed to SP?? This will of course make a huge difference to any system, always expect a 14-1 horse to be 19-1, a 5-1 horse to be 6-1 etc - look at the worst case price you'd have to lay at before going live. I'd try not to get too bogged down by prices, as things should even out if you miss the odd 11-1 or back a 12-1 by mistake etc.... this is what I've found anyway. Steamers and drifters should also even out. It's unlikely that you'll lay every steamer that will go onto win. Over the space of 2 or 3 months you should see this start to happen. Anyway I wish you luck with attempt 4. Trailing through nearly ever race every day is a complete nightmare. The only good thing about my system is I'm only ever looking at about 4 races maximum in any day so it's dead easy to operate as long as you remember the times!!
