Re: PartyPoker Monster Series

I'm playing in a STT qualifier for this at the moment. Bit embarrassed: (a) It's limit. (b) I didn't notice until I got short-stacked and tried to go all-in a la Harrington. Um, chip leader now. :unsure
The filters on Party are quite good for ensuring you select the right game :ok Out of interest, did you plump for $5 + $1 or $10 + $1?

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series Keep going Jomell :ok Out of interest - post 187 - anyone want to debate (aka "argue with") the move. I think it's an interesting one. If the cards were upturned then I think I would argue that I would still be correct to go all in and he would have been correct to fold........

Well, they are if you're paying attention! :sad

This one was a $5+$1, but I've actually been taking the practical course of picking whichever kind of table has more players registered when I want to play. Got to the last two, but despite being ahead by a 2-to-1 margin three times, I came in second. Heads-up in a limit game takes forever!

Is the only issue in the weekly finals whether you come in the top 2000? I think you're correct to go all-in if and only if he'll fold. He's fairly short stacked and has a significant chance of missing the top 2000 if he folds, so I think I'd have to know how many other short stacks there were to judge whether or not he was right to call. There's this strange phenomenon in satellites, where the right play heavily depends on whether your opponents will play in their own best interest or not. An extreme example: 11 players left on equal chip stacks with 10 to qualify. So everybody has about a 91% chance of qualifying. If you go all-in with 32o, then it's wrong for anybody to call you, even with pocket aces, as they'd have less than a 91% chance of beating you. So if you can rely on everybody playing "rationally", it's right for the player UTG to go all-in every hand, whatever he has (well, until the blinds get REALLY big). But if there's an "irrational" player who will call, then going all-in becomes a stupid move, even with pocket aces.

No - there's also the small matter of $100,000 prize money distributed to the top 1000. Main event prize fund now up to $10,125,540 :loon :loon Numbers seem to be trailing off significantly though - just 2521 in so far in tonights $100,000 weekly final (remember top 2000 qualify for the monthly $1,000,000 final and a great shot at qualifying for the main event)

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series Just 2836 playiong in the end - should just be a case of folding to the top 2000 and into the monthly final!!!! Also $100,000 prize money to be distributed - that's over $30 per head (not counting the value of the $1,000,000 monthly final seat if you qualify and the $10,000,000 plus grand final seat if you get to that......) Come on PL'rs - is well worth getting into!!!!!
