Re: Next England manager

hope it ain't allardyce!
So do I. And probably for the same selfish reason!:loon FAO AK1979: McClaren has admitted to an illicit relationship with his secretary. There are now 3 runners from the field of 5: Big Sam, Curbs and MO'N. Big Sam is the best candidate of the 3, O'Neill will get the job IMO.

Re: Next England manager I pity the fool who takes the job. These papers leave no stones unturned. I thought McClaren was the safe choice seeing as he isn't exactly blessed in the looks department but it looks like he's doing OK!

Re: Next England manager The angle-shooters appear to be right about tomorrow's possible Sunday tabloid reveal....a few dangling a measly few quid to see if anyone's still willing to back Steve McLaren but there isn't that much liquidity in the market anyhow (William Hill go 11/10 McLaren, 5/2 Allerdyce. 4/1 O'Neill, 6/1 Scolari, 13/2 Curbishley). EDIT: Oh, even Bettingzone's Market Moves acknowledges McLaren's indiscretions: 1200: The next England manager market is more open than ever following the latest twists and turns. After Luiz Felipe Scolari cited press intrusion as the reason behind his shock decision to withdraw from the race to take over from Sven-Goran Eriksson, Steve McClaren was back into the odds-on favourite. But within hours the Boro boss admitted having an affair with a married woman during a "trial separation" from his wife and drifted out to 4/1 on Betfair. The market has now settled down again, with bet365 going 6/4 McClaren, 10/3 Sam Allardyce and Martin O'Neill, 5/1 Alan Curbishley and 8/1 Scolari. But it's clear no one really has a clear idea of who the next boss will be, a point emphasized by Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin who told us: "The Betfair market has proved as volatile as ever in the last 24 hours and at 10.20pm on Friday night - when rumours of an impending tabloid expose of Steve McClaren's love life began to surface - it was 4/1 the field. "At one point Sam Allardyce was disputing favouritism, and in one of the more bizarre price movements Sir Trevor Brooking was backed into 11/1 at 11.05pm. That punter must have got home from the pub quickly after last orders! "Betfair punters are now trying to back 25 different candidates at various prices - and among them are Sir Alex Ferguson and Harry Redknapp. That just underlines that nobody knows what is going on." engmanodds.jpg
