What is this SP reform? What have I missed? Good wishes to all At present, the SP is calculated by looking at a number of on-course bookies' prices, and taking the lowest price from the top third. From November (?) they'll take the lowest price from the top half ... I think.

AlanDB
Re: EW Double System Hello Slapdash. Firstly, congratulations on a profitable system :clap I was considering following your selections but I only have an account with Betfair and don't really have any interest in setting up accounts with traditional bookies - just really because of wanting to keep my betting funds all in one place and the fact you are frowned upon by the bookies when you start taking money off them! What I would be interested in doing is using your selections on the Betfair place markets as singles. What are your thoughts on this and do you have any data to prove whether or not this would be profitable? I notice you also post selections on sports-punter. Is this the same system? slapdash
Re: EW Double System Hello Slapdash. Firstly' date=' congratulations on a profitable system :clap [/quote'] Thanks. The idea is the same as with the sports-punter selections, but I generally have more selections in this thread. The sports-punter selections are more or less the same as the selections I post as each-way singles in my other thread: http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22876 Somebody asked just the other day in that thread about why I was more selective about the ones I post as singles than the ones I post as doubles, so you should be able to find my answer there quite easily. As to whether it would still be profitable to back these on Betfair, again people have asked this a few times in my other thread. The short answer is that I'm not sure, but because of the selection criteria I'm sure the profit (if any) would be a lot less.

ebogga
Re: EW Double System Great stuff today! :nana Wish I had followed you with taking the SP's too. I took early price so I got 14/1 and 8/1, but still ended in a very nice profit. How do you decide whether to take EP or SP?
slapdash
Re: EW Double System How do you decide whether to take EP or SP? Toss a coin .... :) No, I always take EP for the ones in 16+ runner handicaps, as SP almost always turns out to be lower for these. The others, I make a guess based on various factors: e.g., if the Betfair win price is less than the EP, I usually take the EP; If one bookie has an EP significantly better than most of the other bookies, I usually take that EP; if the bookies have been cutting the price and there's still one with a higher EP, I usually take that; if other horses in the race seem to be having their prices cut, I usually take SP; if the Betfair win price is significantly higher than the best EP, I tend to take SP; if it looks as though I've completely missed the good EP, I tend to take SP in the hope that it will bounce back a bit, etc. I certainly don't always get it right, and on many occasions I've made decisions that looked rather silly when I saw what the SP was.
