Although lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage and could not advance to the knockout stage with the first place, it was also the first time for the team to advance in a decade. Cagliari

Cagliari drew with Torino in the last round and have been winless for eight consecutive league games - only collected eight points and ranked in the penultimate third place in the league table - in the relegation area. Mourinho's sides fell to the seventh-placed in the league table as a consequence. However, Spezia's visit should really provide a great chance for Roma to rebound. For their 2-3 away success over CSKA Sofia - ensuring the team's place in the last-16 spots in Europa Conference League.

Spezia have been winless in four consecutive league games (1D-3L) after the 2-2 draw with Sassuolo last time out. The team have the worst defensive performance in Serie A with 36 goals conceded in 16 games. They are also one of the weakest visitors for a record of 1W-1D-6L from eight away contests this season, conceding as many as 25 goals in the process.

 

Prediction

Although often receive the defeats from the clubs at the top of the table, Roma are usually efficient against the bottom teams - particularly at home.

Interesting ref appointments in Spain and Italy tonight (Ortiz and Prontera respectively) in that neither has handled more than 10 top flight games so far and both have shown a leaning towards "middling" (i.e. 4-6 cards) totals. Both showed more cards in their 2nd tier games.

4-6 cards can be backed at 21/20 in each game which is just below my usual minimum odds but, given the stats, I've done a 15 point double on both games seeing between 4-6 cards. I wouldn't put anyone off just playing the singles (one for a tiny profit) but I've plumped for the double.

Roma are seventh in the Serie A standings after 16 matches in which they scored 25 points. The gap from Atalanta, which is now on the fourth line, is already nine points.
Roma have lost four of their previous six league matches. Despite this, the club's management recently made a statement in which it noted that it still trusts Jose Mourinho.
In the last round, Roma lost 0-3 at home to Inter Milan. The Romans conceded all three goals in the first half.
And before that there was an away defeat from Bologna. In this game, Mourinho's team also failed to score.

Spezia
