StevieDay1983
So Wayne Rooney broke the Manchester United all-time goal scoring record last weekend and has scored 4 more goals for England than his closest rival in the form of Bobby Charlton. Is it time that fans started giving Rooney the credit a record-holder of his ilk deserves? Or are there still others such as Charlton himself, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, and Jimmy Greaves who will be remembered as greater scorers for the national side? Personally, I think Rooney is arguably the most well-rounded striker England have had. His ability to link play, create, and score has made him a danger from more areas around the pitch. However, I think there are a host of other players that have been more clinical in front of goal. Michael Owen, before he got his first injury, for me, is the most deadly striker England have ever had.
Sir Puntalot
I don't know what it is, but I just don't see Rooney as "A Great" - maybe because he's still playing? I know mates who feel the same...
