Only horses having previously won at the distance considered. Then horse must be the betting forecast favourite, as shown on the racecards available on the sporting life website. Today, there are 5 races that qualify; A 15.45 BRIGHTON BEN HUR B 16.45 BRIGHTON CLOANN C 17.00 THIRSK LITTLE VENICE D 17.30 THIRSK TEDSTALE E 20.15 WARWICK TORQUEMADA IGNORE MY ORIGINAL STAKING AND FOLLOW THE THREAD DOWN..... Bookies love taking either full cover permed bets (because even when you get a couple of winners, you often only get your money back if they are favs), or bets like the Union Jack and Lucky 7 Bingo, where not all selections are permed together so if your winners come in the wrong order (like today) you don't get anything back. Re multiples - I'd defo dump trebles and fourfolds (unless you build a sufficient bank and keep picking all but one winners), so IF you need to do multiples, I'd prefer full cover dbls and a chancy 5-or-something fold. Fleet, I am, by no stretch of the imagination, an 'expert on horse punting', but have started to 'dabble' in trying to develop an on paper system for a small profit on racing, during the 'closed' football season, so any assertions I make do not carry much PL 'cred'. However, I have found that any system I test that fails a lot more than wins is worth testing as a lay system. In other words, LAY the favourites in races that meet your selection process, and you should show a profit. When you do lose a bet, the loss is not too great, because you are laying a fav., so it'll be around 1.5 to 2.5. It's just turning a negative into a positive.... I noticed you were thinking of giving up after a few bad days results. I'd keep it going for at least a couple of months even if you hit a bad run, as you can't really judge a system on a few days/weeks results. It could just be that you were unlucky at the start. I actually have good hopes for this - I mean - small fields, previous winners at the distance & fancied in the betting.
