TotoSchillaci
Re: Australia » Hyundai A-League » 12-13 December Perth Glory - Newcastle Jets Perth are coming off two very decent away showings on the East Coast of Australia and will be relieved to be back at home and have had 8 days rest since last Thursday's 1-2 win against Sydney FC. They are a happy and confident side who have brought in 8 new players this season which sees them on top of the table and have won all 4 matches at home so far. The Jets are the polar opposite here. The owner of the club is looking to sell it to Dundee Utd, there is media coverage of unrest in the side and internal disputes and it's showing on the field. They haven't won an A-league match yet. When playing the top sides they usually lose and against similar sides it's a draw. After losing South American creative mid Marco Flores to injury a couple of weeks ago, they lost Celeski last week in their 1-3 home loss to the Wellington Phoenix (a winnable match where they led 1-0). These are two important guys for them in the middle of the park. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/newcastle-jets/newcastle-jets-turn-on-each-other-as-david-carney-blasts-fans-20141209-123wyj.html The Jets have the equal worst defence in the league and Perth at home will look to capitalise with Keogh their Irish striker. Perth have a well balance middle of the park with a grafter, and couple of central guys who are good on the ball while still phyhsical, and then the less physical passers who constantly pick out Keogh's runs. It doesn't bode well for a Newcastle side who look like mental midgets and are characterised by their utter inability to hold onto a lead. When I watch them, I always feel they can crumble at any given moment. Jets played on Saturday and now fly to Perth on a Friday night prime-time fixture for the Perth locals. Perth have won the last 4 h2h encounters and are undefeated in the last 10. For Newcastle it's simply a case of the wrong place at the wrong time. TotoSchillaci
Re: Australia » Hyundai A-League » 12-13 December Perth played just under their usual level. There was some polish lacking in their performance tonight where they could of scored at least 4 times and offered the Jets some unnecessary chances. Keogh the striker played like he was partying last night and looked like a cow out there until maybe the last 15 mins. Newcastle's Dutch captain Jallens picked up a red card for a dangerous studs up lunge, so the fairy tale continues for the Jets. Overall a rather fortunate win where a push would of been welcome considering the sluggish patches Perth had during the match. I'll put it down to maybe thinking about the domestic cup final against Adelaide (Tuesday) somewhere in the back of their minds.
MPLouis
Re: Australia » Hyundai A-League » 12-13 December Keogh the striker played like he was partying last night and looked like a cow out there :lol I thought Newcastle looked good in patches, but Perth generally looked more dangerous and I think the final scoreline was fair. Perth look a different team compared with a few years ago.
Crouch Potato
Re: Australia » Hyundai A-League » 12-13 December Melbourne Victory v Sydney FC 2.5pts Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.83 Betfair Though it was 0-0 the last time these two sides met it really could have been 3-3. Ben Khalfallah in particular was awful in front of goal and with more composure the game ends very different. Victory play a very attacking style of football, particularly at home, and their recent 3-2 win at home to Adelaide is exactly the type of game I am expecting tonight. Sydney defensively have been very good of late but for mine they've been a bit lucky as both Adelaide and Melbourne were scoreless against them in games where they could easily have had 2-3 goals. Sydney themselves are good going forward and whilst the long term absence of Gameiro is a blow they'll be starting both Smeltz and Janko tonight, so I think we're a good chance of seeing goals at both ends.
