Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th Yep. Tuesday TV preview: 4pts Middlesbrough (+1.25AH) to beat Liverpool 1.92 Bet365 All things being equal if Liverpool were in decent nick you’d back them with confidence for this match but they haven’t looked much cop so far this season and added to the doubt that they will field their strongest side here Middlesbrough merit respect. They are full of confidence and are playing some nice stuff and perhaps most importantly of all they have nothing to lose in this match so they’ll give it all they’ve got and could just be worth backing on the Asian lines. Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th Well Kev summed it up nicely there. Middlesbrough players will be stepping over each other to play at Anfield. It's like a fun day trip away from the Championship (where they've won the last 3 and sit in 5th place winning 3 of their 4 away matches) and they'll all be excited about it. Whereas you can really forgive Rodgers for whatever side he conjures up with the Merseyside derby and a trip to Switzerland immediately following this fixture. The best 11 don't seem to have chemistry at the moment so there won't be much of that lost if he rings the changes, though the drop in individual talent should be evident. Karanka is the coach of Middlesbrough and he is aiming for promotion this season. He wants to make a name for himself and not be forever identified as the guy second to Mourinho at Real. What better stage to get recognition than here in a result that will be seen by the world? I won't wait for team news because Rodgers is a pragmatic guy and will have his priorities in order. I fully expect Middlesbrough to at least provide us with a wholehearted performance here which may well be enough to cover the line above. The expected omissions from the home side and their busy schedule certainly won't hurt us either.

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th My side, Norwich, played mostly a reserve side against Crawley in the last game, and were lucky to go through. We have a good squad, but against a motivated side in Shrewsbury, who have won, I believe four of their five home matches and drew the other one 0-0, it could be a tricky evening. This was our team in the last round: Rudd, Whittaker, McFadden, Cuellar, Martin; Surman (no longer with us) Eliot Bennett, the Murphy twins on each wing; Jerome (first start I think), Loza. Only Martin and Whittaker were regulars.

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th My latest shots on target stats for these sides show Southampton, Middlesbro, Doncaster and Forest as possible value - Arsenal v Southampton Arsenal seem to be more comfortable playing away than at home at the moment, and haven't had any convincing home wins this season as far as I am aware. Southampton lost 2-1 at Liverpool and have won at West Ham and Swansea and Millwall in the last round of the cup. Southampton +0.5 2.0 Bet365 Liverpool v Boro Liverpool are struggling to re-establish themselves after missing out on the title last season. Middlesbro have made a good start to their season and have won 3 of their 4 away games, and won 3-0 at Oldham in the last round. Boro or Draw 2.7 unibet Fulham v Doncaster Fulham are bottom of the Championship and have lost 3 and drawn 1 at Craven Cottage. Doncaster are in the bottom half of League One, but they've won three out of four away games and beat Championship side Watford away in the last round. Doncaster +0.5 2.06 BetVictor Tottenham v Forest By all accounts Spurs struggled to create chances against West Brom on Sunday, when they lost 1-0. Forest are top of the Championship and in excellent form. Forest +0.5 2.54 Pinnacle Stake: 1 point on each Total stake: 4 points

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th 4pts Notts Forest (+1AH) to beat Spurs 1.92 BetVictor I don’t see this as being a stroll in the park for Tottenham. Forest have started the season in really good touch and are capable of scoring at any moment. Tottenham haven’t looked all that sound defensively even at full strength and they may well make changes for this game. Forest are also pretty organised and they don’t concede many so if Spurs do come through here they’ll have to work hard for it. The value lies with Forest on the Asians. Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th I don't usually like backing Boro but tonight I really fancy us to get through. We were available at 8/1 a couple of nights ago which I thought was almost a gift from above. I have gone in again at 11/2 this morning. Liverpool are a million miles away from the team they were last year and it's 100% guaranteed there will be plenty of changes to their team tonight with both eyes on Everton at the weekend. They are lacking confidence as it is and I feel they will find things very tough tonight against a Boro team that are growing in confidence by the week. We now have a squad to rival any in the Championship and we have 3 forwards in Kike, Bamford and Vossen that are as good as any in the League. We made 6 changes to our team at the weekend and romped to victory against a good Brentford side. We will go to Anfield with absolutely no pressure on us whatsoever and I fancy us to go 2 up front and really take it to Liverpool and their fragile defence. I am confident of a Boro win in normal time... :ok UTB

In normal time only Swindon at QPR. But Everton v Stevenage, Forest v Millwall, Burton v Fulham and Liverpool v Notts County all went to extra time.

I think your list of selections is the way I would go. I would expect at least a couple of those to come in and cover your stake but I wouldn't be so confident as to have straight winner selections on any of them. Worth bearing in mind with Spurs that they have Arsenal away on Saturday and have a day less to recover playing on Wed, expect a much weakened side and they are hardly playing well at the moment.

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th What do you think about Cardiff? I know they changed manager, and still searching form, and that their main goal is to look after promotion this year, but the price is huge on them, regarding they play against Bournemouth, team at least equal strength (currently of course) as Cardiff. 2,60 for Cardiff win, I'll back them up.

Bournemouth had actually had a pretty decent start in the Championship and find themself a place above Cardiff. Could all rest on team news. Bournemouth have drawn 3 of their last 4 fixtures 1-1. Two of those were away games at Norwich and Watford.

Howson and Hooper back from injury tonight, big players. And a likely start for Club Brugge signing Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe. It will be a much changed team and there could be as many as 11 changes from the league game on Saturday but there is a lot of strength in depth.

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th Swansea vs Everton Swansea to win 17/10 paddy power over 2.5 goals 4/7 paddy power i think this will be close but i feel Swansea will sneak it as they can concentrate on this cup as they are not in europe but their opponents played sunday and also played in europe so i think Martinez might rotate his squad also these two are quite attacking so i fancy the overs bet Arsenal vs Southampton Arsenal to win 5/4 paddy power over 2.5 goals 8/11 paddy power i know arsenal will rest some player but i still think they will have enough to win as i think koeman might want to concentrate on the league and rest players himself Cardiff vs Bournemouth Bournemouth to win 9/5 paddy power over 2.5 goals 8/11 paddy power Cardiff are not in form and i think their opponents might just knock them out tonight as they are going to go for it and also i like the overs bet as these two like to play good football i also fancy Doncaster 5/1 paddy power and Shrewsbury 3/1 paddy power to win as well as they will be at full strength and playing teams that are not in form

  • [h=3]Team News[/h] Arsenal v Southampton (19:45 BST)

    Posted at

Abou Diaby makes yet another return for Arsenal, as boss Arsene Wenger makes 10 changes from the team that beat Aston Villa in the Premier League at the weekend. Diaby's last appearance was a 14-minute cameo at the end of last season, which was his only game of that campaign. David Ospina makes his Gunners debut in goal following his summer move from Nice, and there are starts for young defenders Hector Bellerin and Isaac Hayden. The only player to keep his place from the weekend is Calum Chambers, who faces his former club. Southampton make five changes, with the big news being a first start for forward Sadio Mane after he was granted a work permit following his move from Red Bull Salzburg. Florin Gardos, Steven Davis, Victor Wanyama and Matt Targett also play. Arsenal starting XI: Ospina, Bellerin, Chambers, Hayden, Coquelin, Rosicky, Diaby, Wilshere, Alexis, Campbell, Podolski Southampton starting XI: Forster, Clyne, Fonte, Gardos, Targett, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, S. Davis, Tadic, Mane, Pelle

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th Have to admit pretty surprised at the Liverpool line up. A lot stronger than I though and surprised he is risking the likes of Sterling. Also surprised with the Boro team and how many changes he has made. Fingers crossed we can still do the business though

Re: Capital One Cup > September 23rd & 24th

Howson and Hooper back from injury tonight' date=' big players. And a likely start for Club Brugge signing Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe. It will be a much changed team and there could be as many as 11 changes from the league game on Saturday but there is a lot of strength in depth.[/quote'] 11 changes ?for Norwich against Shrewsbury.
