Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Dinamo Zagreb - Petrolul First leg finished 3-1 for the Croatian team, even if Petrolul was the better team. I already said 1-0 or 1-1 (in the worst case) would have been the fair result here. Even if the result says Dinamo Zagreb is qualified in 90% I don't think Petrolul will die without a fight. They have great players in attack (like Teixeira, Albin, Tamuz or Mutu) and for sure Petrolul can score. Petrolul won 4-1 in Plzen after a 1-1 draw in Romania and I see Plzen equal with Dinamo Zagreb. Same time Dinamo lost at home with Aalborg, loosing qualification in CHL after wining in Danemark. For me one bet is quite clear: Petrolul to score @ 1.44 9/10 and also I will try Petrolul to score over 1.5 goals @ 3.05 6/10

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th I agree with Claugol, there is low chance of Dinamo not conceding according to their form and results lately. The defense is shaky, and the goalkeeper doesn't gives me much confidence in the clean sheet here.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Spurs vs Ael btts 2.62 @ bet365 (compare odds) or over 2.5 and yes btts 3.1 @ bet 365 The visitors have some decent Latin-Americans (mostly Brazil) in their squad and they looked good in the first leg. They are obviously not that bad as the odds suggest in this return leg. They had the advantage on the counter, scored early, and even wasted some chances afterwards to really lock the game. Spurs dominated the match as expected, but weren't that incisive until the subs came in. Lamella was introduced around the 70th min and changed the game in their favour, he has 4 assists in the last two matches and seem vital for them. He may not be involved here, at least from the start. Fact is that Tot'nam will field a changed side in light of their weekend match against Liverpool. It is expected that the visitors will make an effort here, they have nothing to lose really, and with the prices quite high on the goals market a small punt is warranted.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Villareal-Astana BTTS 2.15 A bit on Djigi's track, I think the bet on both team to score on this match is worth more than a trying. Astana showed to be a decent team at this level scoring 3 goals to Hapoel Tel Aviv at home and, mainly, 3 goals at AIK Stockholm away. They passed easily their previous qualifying rounds and are the leading team of a football rising country as Kazakhistan is. The 0-3 score on first match (actually a heavy score since the match has been very fair for one hour and more) should make this match a sort of friendly, where Astana would just love to quit the competition with a good result and a nice performance at a prestigious field. They have enough solutions to score since the team owns most of the national team, but especially, I am comforted on taking this bet because Villareal will play (as Inter against Stjarnan) with all the second lines, saving their key-players for their extra-important match of the weekend against Barcelona. So 8/10 of BTTS and a small bet (1-2/10) on draw @ 7.5

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th I rate this as one of the better bets this round. Astra hosting Lyon. The Home side did really well away at Lyon, collecting all points and scored two important goals. They are on a great run so far in this league but also in the Romanian league, they perform on a high level. Last weekend they've beaten Rapid away from home with 0-2. Overall a 3th place with 4 wins and one loss goal difference of +9. Interesting stuff from their side so far. Last round they killed Slovan Liberec at home 3-0, but the most important thing for me was that they took the away leg very serious. They played with a determination when playing a final and indeed they also won the return leg with 2-3. Probably the money talks here but most of all pride. They can show themselves to Europe and boost their club in the right direction. I really believe they can make 4 wins in a row. Odds dropped I must admit. They opened at 3.50 but didn't last very long. I took them this evening for 2.90 but I still think it's are really worth it. The odds keep dropping and I expect them to drop around evens before Kick-off. They have a fit squad available. The only notable missing is maybe striker Fatai. He came off at the weekend, probably injured but I don't know if he's out or not. Maybe someone else could add it in here. Anyways, they have a decent replacement for him on the Bench in Bukari. He played on a regular basis last year and scored goals too. I just think it is clearly a team performance, not one real star in their team. Maybe creative midfielder Budescu, if you have to name one. Most of the players stayed at the club this summer and they are on a rise. Another home game on sunday for Astra so no big deal there. Lyon on the other hand are in terrible shape, physically and mentally. They have so many injured players at the moment their coach is going nuts. They lost three in a now, last weekend at home against Lens 0-1 and it could have been worse. Some might think Lyon will react soon but I can't see it happening especially not in a tough away game in Romania. Lyon always plays with a mixture squad, like he did at home against Astra and I expect him to do the same again. They play Metz away in three days after this one and their priority surely lies on the competition. Such a bad start. Missings for Lyon : Bedimo, Bisevac, Umtiti, Grenier, Fofana, Fekir, Benzia, Yattara, Gourcuff and Rose is suspended. That's almost their whole backline from last year. Only Kone is fit but he might even gets some rest. Creative players Gourcuff and Grenier are still missing and it really hurts my eyes to see Lyon play at the moment. They are so reliable on Lacazette to make a move or new signing Yattara but he's out now. Even a more decisive role for Lacazette and if Astra marks him well, they have a very good chance to even keep a cleansheet here. Maybe Lacazette is also on the bench would be great for our bets but we have to wait and see. Very limited options for Fournier their coach. Almost the whole starting eleven is out, so what to do? Chances to qualify for the next round are very slim so why risk more players? Interesting case, anyways Lyon is clearly on a downtrend, without any creativity in their squad they will suffer for sure. Astra already showed that they can score goals against this Lyon side and at home they are even stronger. Some stats about Lyon : Lyon played 31 European qualifying games at home, winning 18, drew 6 and lost 7. In 14 out of 18 wins they also qualified for the Group stages. But they failed in 4 after winning the first game at home. But more important, Lyon never qualified after a draw or a loss in the first leg. That's 17 against 14. In more than 50% of the occasions they failed. History may well be written, but not in my book. I just can't think of the thought Lyon will come out here and fight like beasts. This league was never their priority and under current circumstances things became even harder. If Astra scores first and I think they will, this tie is burried and it might end ugly for Lyon. Home advantage, atmosphere, form and H2H pushed me to back the home win with some medium confidence. Also Astra -1 for some smaller stakes. I do think Lyon is weak and fragile at the moment. Lens created some great chances especially on the break this weekend so I expect Astra to do the same and win it in the end, fingers crossed boys! Goodluck.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Thanks for the heads up Senk. I backed Lyon to win their first match of the league vs Rennes and forgot about them completely after that. Must of been luck because since then they've fallen apart by the look of it. This article on uefa.com illustrates how motivated the Romanians are for this match. Can't imagine this is more important to Lyon than getting a CL place in the league. So hopefully that difference in motivation (selection) will be the crucial factor here. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2135831.html

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Dynamo Moscow to beat Omonia @1.72 . This price is offered by bet365. Russians did all the mistakes of the world in first leg. Defense was joke, but now coach announced change in tactics. Omonia is not a force, and although the weather conditions are always a factor when we talk about Cyprus, i predict that the stronger of the two will win here, and the stronger are definitely the Russians. I just remind everybody that Dynamo visited Cyprus few weeks ago to play at the SAME Nicosia stadium in previous round due to the troubles in Israel AW, 8/10:cigar

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Sheriff Tiraspol - HNK Rijeka Rijeka will play with their best 11 at the moment and those are best 11 generally, except Krstanovic who is injured (muscle problems). Kvrzic is questionable but his form is such that his absence would not be a big blow. So, Rijeka's squad and formation, something like this (4-5-1): Vargic-Tomecak, Samardzic, Leskovic, Leovac-Kvrzic (Jugovic), Moises, Jajalo, Brezovec, Sharbini (Kvrzic)-Kramaric. I think that tonight's match will be a lot different than the 1st leg. Rijeka will play more defesively and that style of play suit them much more than when the opponent is defending. I don't believe that Sheriff will go va banque, but they need to score a goal or two and not concede. Statistics shows it will be a difficult task to do that: Sheriff scored only 5 goals in 5 matches in their championship, in CL qualifications vs Slovan Bratislava in 2 games they scored only one goal and in the last 2 matches they didn't score even once. It's obvious that they have a real problem up front. But this is football and anything can happen. Rijeka broke theirs 16 consecutive wins in a row record last Sunday but with 8 players that didn't star vs Sheriff one week ago. Yes, refferee was bad (a penalty given to Lokomotiva for faul outside the box and red card for Samardzic), but Rijeka played bad. The players heads were on today's match. I will write similar that I wrote when Rijeka played vs Ferencvaros 2nd leg (the result form the first was identical): if Rijeka score first - it's over. If Sheriff scores first it could be everything. One thing to consider: Rijeka vs the last 11 opponents in knock-out system (EL last year qualifications, Croatian Cup, this year qualifications) never went out. In this 11 events they always brought the advantage from the 1st leg, always. The odds are surprisingly high for Sheriff to qualify: 5,00! Only 1,16-1,20 Rijeka. I suggest to bet live on this.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Dynamo and Lokomotiv are definetly no bets for me, although there seems to be some value hidden in there. I see decent value in the following matches: Astra - Lyon Neftchi - Partizan Dinamo Z. - Petrolul Krasnodar - Real Sociedad Astra - Lyon As senk pointed out, Lyon are on a downward path, with several (what I would call "key") absences, they dont strike me as a team willing to go through Europa League this season. Their roster is already thinned out, and they will have to sacrifice the Europa league anyway, should they want to compete in Ligue 1 with any hopes for CL spots. Astra on the other hand are a "club in development" and this year they have something to show, and also they seem to have what it takes to grab that spot in the group stages. Their form good, winning several key matches including the derby match with Rapid. They locked out Lyon at Gerland, and given Lyon's crappy form as of late (after the only good game this season vs Rennes actualy) they can surely get a result tonight. My bets are as follows: Astra to win @ 2.7 (5/10) Astra to score in first half @ 2.1 (4/10) Neftchi - Partizan What is there to say about the upcoming match (which is proving to be a classic in the eyes of Partizan fans, including myself, due to the fact they played several times already in these stages). Neftci has certain players which can and will cause trouble for the weak defence of Partizan, but Neftci itself is on a poor run by their standards. European fixtures at home have proven to be a handful for Nefci, and they dont seem to have the edge when it comes to creating chances and taking them. Last 3 home fixtures have seen a thin victory over their local rivals, and a draw vs Chikura, Koper was victorious with first half goals edging it 1:2. Partizan on the other hand are utter rubbish at the moment, but compared to Neftci they are an all-star team. The first match provided 2 early goals by Neftci only to be turned around for by Partizan and it finished 3:2 (and Neftci should be very happy about it, cause Partizan could have scored a couple more). Partizans main weakness is the defensive line, since Volkov (LB) is doubtful at least but should be replaced by Gulan who has the capacity but lacks competitive matches, Stankovic is already sold along with Trajkovic who was dismissed from the squad following his display of sucker punches against Ludogorets player. Even though there is a chance of Stankovic actualy starting the match, he isnt exactly a good CB. The only pillar of defense will be held by Branko Ilic, a former Slovenian international, who has already proven that he can provide certain stability and reactions. Partizan real strength lies in its wingers, namely Zivkovic and Vulicevic (should they both start I cant see anything for neftci other than a couple of goals in their net), and the attacking duo Lazovic and Skuletic (both of whom are experienced and have a good sense of goal). Perhaps a bit biassed but since I watched the first leg, and the match vs Ludogorets (which Partizan should have won comfortably) I believe that Partizan will win (they have the quality for that), the only scare coming from the fact that they can actually qualify with a draw, which i think is too risky and they know it as well. My bets: Partizan to win @ 2.50 (7/10) Partizan to win & over 2.5 @ 4.33 (3/10) HT/FT - Draw/Partizan @ 6.0 (1/10) Krasnodar - Real Sociedad Real S. has had a bit of a shaky start losing their opening match vs. newbies Eibar, although it was an open match Sociedad didnt offer any reasons why they should be a favourite in that match. I expect more of the same here, They dont seem to play too well away from home (despite that thin victory and undeserved in my opinion vs Aberdeen). Krasnodar are a team on a good run form wise. They have comfortably won their last 4 out of 5 Europa campaign matches, losing only to Sociedad. Their play in that game was based on not losing heavily, since they offered too much respect. This time around I expect a good attacking game by the hosts, who have won all 4 home matches this season without conceding a goal. Should they pull of something similar they could qualify for the group stages, and with those odds I am willing to back that scenario. My bets: Krasnodar to win @ 2.3 (4/10) Krasnodar to qualify @ 4.00 (3/10) HT/FT - Draw/Krasnodar @ 5.50 (2/10) *all bets placed on bet365

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th For senk. They announced Fatai is available for todays game, while Ben Youssef is wanted by Marseille so he might raise his game today in the defence as OM officials will be watching him. Also to add that Astra hasnt lost a game at home since 25 august 2013. That's a 17 game undefeated streak at home. Your bet looks good and Astra might go through which will mean alot for them to get past Lyon.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Hull to beat Lokeren - 18 Points @ 1.57 Boylesports Hull to WIN 1-0 - 2 Points @ 6.50 William Hill -------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Bruce's men should be able to win this tie playing at home against a Belgian side that has had an average start in the league. Hull lost the away leg 1-0 but the English side were the better side with more possession and double the amount of shots on goal, with a weakened team out. They won't go all out attack from the off though, they will be patient and will keep it tight at the back so it could end up being a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Hull. Tottenham -1 to beat Limassol - 16 Points @ 1.57 Bet365 Tottenham -2 to beat Limassol - 3 Points @ 2.50 Bet Victor Tottenham -3 to beat Limassol - 1 Point @ 4.60 Bet Victor ------------------------------------------------------------------ Not a whole pile to say here only that Spurs are light years ahead of Limassol technically. They won the away leg 2-1, with 60% of the ball, a game they really controlled and I can't see the away side getting anything at White Hart Lane tonight. Spurs have started the league strongly, the manager is taking this competition seriously and he should field a decent strength side.

Do you think that Hull want to be in the Europa League group stage? It could distract them from their main priority - staying in the Premier League another season. But on paper they should be easy winners against the Belgians.

I asked the same question mate until I read some of Bruce's quotes: 'It's quite simple, we've got to win the match and we're capable of that, no matter what line-up I pick, we're capable of winning the game. 'We know that we'd love to be in the next stages; to get in the group stages would be terrific for the club, we're aware of that. We're also aware of how difficult it is with all the pitfalls that come with it. 'We'll be going all out to try and get a result and get us through to the league situation which we'd all look forward to.'

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Rio Ave vs Elfsborg - Under 2.25 goals, 6/10 points @ 2.0 Matchbook Elfsborg won first fixture 2-1. Rio's four last games have seen less than 2.5 goals scored (including two 0-0, 0-0). I listened to a five min interview with Elfsborgs coach where he was talking about expected match picture, "defensive". Both teams recently matched (not sure how much that impacts though). Panathinaikos lead 4-1 from the home leg. All they need is to avoid a big defeat tonight. That's a problem I can see with your bet - also Greek sides often struggle away from home.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Sparta Prague V PEC Zwolle Over 2.5 goals @ 1.72 - bet365. Watched the first leg and Zwolle were completely in control, and should really have won after they missed a PEN. Zwolle also struck me as being extremely desperate to stay in Europe as well as maybe a little bit inexperienced, as you'd expect. I think as Sparta have the away goal Zwolle will have to attack and are more than capable of scoring at least a goal here.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th

Dynamo and Lokomotiv are definetly no bets for me, although there seems to be some value hidden in there. Partizan real strength lies in its wingers, namely Zivkovic and Vulicevic (should they both start I cant see anything for neftci other than a couple of goals in their net), and the attacking duo Lazovic and Skuletic (both of whom are experienced and have a good sense of goal). :ok 5/8 bets won. Astra ruining the overall impression a bit, but still a decent 33 units of profit mostly thanks to the late winner by Partizan.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th

Dinamo Zagreb - Petrolul First leg finished 3-1 for the Croatian team, even if Petrolul was the better team.
I backed Petrolul on the handicap here and I saw most of the game. It finished 2-1 to Zagreb with the winner being the last kick of the match. Both sides looked quite skilful but Zagreb looked a class above and they missed some good chances with the ball whistling the wrong side of the post several times. At times they seemed happy to keep possession in the Petrolul half - but there's little doubt they deserved the win. Petrolul were disappointing I thought after looking very good away to Plzen in the last round.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Astra lost 0-1. Frustrating to loose a bet like this. Everything was looking fine pre-game but they didn't even score a goal. Guess Fatai not playing was a big loss after all. Lyon scored first and controlled the posession overall. Lyon played with their best available 11 bit still failed to qualify. Bad for us they scored first. Bet lost!
