Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1 A couple of plays, weather permitting... Boston United away at Corby Town (29/20 BetVictor) Despite Corby contriving one of the misses of the season late on with the scores at 1-1, Boston were much the better side on Boxing Day and they got into the winning groove again with a solid win over Oxford City yesterday: Graham Drury is having the desired effect. Corby lack a cutting edge up front, and even made a cheeky approach for Boston's Mark Jones this week (he turned them down). Guiseley away at Bradford Park Avenue (5/4 Bet365) Guiseley have been a touch out of sorts recently - none more so than in the 1-0 home win over BPA on Boxing Day, when they were very fortunate to win. But they have a great chance to get back on track against a BPA squad that is coming under severe pressure with injuries and suspensions - over half the starting XI at Guiseley will be missing. Basingstoke Town at home to Farnborough (3/1 BlueSQ, BetInternet) Risky, but far too high. Basingstoke's form stinks but they have been improving and as I pointed out in the weekend thread they are a lot stronger than a few weeks ago. They could have got something at Farnborough last week. Farnborough have been excellent this season, but their best work has been at home - they've only managed two wins on the road. They'll be missing Dean Inman, whose loan from Hampton is up. I'd make them slight favourites but Basingstoke should be much closer in the percentages.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1

I just saw that Droylsden host Chester.I am going again for Chester -2 EH because of the same reasons described few days ago when Chester played at home
As much as Chester should win it is not a bet that appeals this time as Droylsden are better at home than they are away. Also Chester may have ended up winning 3-0 against Hinckley on Saturday, but they made hard work of it and I expect the home side to put up more of a fight than they did on Boxing Day especially as they didn't play on Saturday.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1 I think there is a brilliant point: Welling United - AFC Hornchurch. Hosts with (-1,5) 1.975 with bet365 or (-1) 1.85 with WH. Last game between two side was 5 days ago and Welling hammered "horns" 3-0. At home hosts are merciless. Guests used to concede one or even more goals.

At this level I don't think the crowd makes much of a difference and Chester will have more fans at the game anyway. All I am saying is Chester only put 3 past Hinckley and Hinckley are worse than Droylsden. Like I say Hinckley made Chester work very hard for the win and even had a pen to make it 1-1 at one stage. Just because they put 5 past them the other day doesn't mean they will do so again a week later. Chester will have covered the -2 handicap on four of their last eight away games so that isn't bad, but I do think the extra break Droylsden have had will work in their favour given the heavy pitches at the moment. They might well do it, but in my view it isn't anywhere near being as good a bet as it was on Boxing Day.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1 Basingstoke v Farnborough Granted I took Farnborough on the last time they played away from home and they won, but I am happy to oppose them again, especially when the home side are available at 3/1 (Blue Square and BetVictor). I tipped Basingstoke a couple of weeks ago and they let me down, but that was a risk as they were away from home and they have a poor away record. At home though it is a brighter story and I still believe they are in a bit of a false position with only Truro beneath them in the Blue Square South. I also think Farnborough are in a false position in the play-off zone so I think the bookies have priced this up wrong and the game will be much closer than they think. Basingstoke only just failed on Boxing Day when losing 2-1 in the reverse fixture so at 3/1 at home it looks a decent value bet. Bradford Park Avenue v Guiseley The away side have not been at their best of late although given the fairly kind fixture list they have not really had to be and they remain in a decent position should Chester have a dip in form. Speaking of dips in form the home side are having one of those at the moment having lost their last four games. They also played on Saturday (lost 2-0 to Stalybridge) which Guiseley didn’t and that will be a factor given the pitches are very heavy at the moment. Also over half the team that featured in the Boxing Day defeat at Guiseley will be missing through injury or suspension on Tuesday, so given all that it makes Guiseley a cracking bet at a general 6/5.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1 BlueSq South Weston v Bath Weston won 2-1 at Bath on Boxing Day, but from what I read Bath had a bit more of the game. What I like about this game is that Bath is a much bigger club and have won their last three games at Weston. Athough Weston are in better general form, I think the head to head record makes Bath attractive at 3.1. Bath +0.25 1.98 Bet 365

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1 Pitch inspection at BPA at ten. It's sounding 50/50. To add some meat on the Bradford PA situation today, they're looking very light at the back with James Knowles the biggest loss in central defence. In recent games they've been mixing and matching around him. I'm guessing they'll put Adam Clayton in the middle but they'll probably have to play a midfielder somewhere along the back four. Widemen Matty James and Alex Davidson are both missing - the latter has been excellent at times this season. Nathan Hotte and Jordan Deacey are big losses in midfield - both were starters at Guiseley. Up front they look okay, but I think they'll struggle to contain a lively Guiseley attack that benefits from the return of Wayne Brooksby.

Thought you were home and hosed after they went 3-0 up almost straight away. Just wonder if the goals came to early and they eased off thinking the game was won? Or maybe the extra game played caught up with them late on.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 1 Decent enough day, despite Boston failing. A solid win for Guiseley and a great one for Basingstoke - four goals from Delano Sam-Yorke, highlighting just how much he's been missed by Basingstoke. Great call by French on the Welling handicap.
