Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28

Ships/guys...any chance of an ante-post update. Thoughts? Having seen Chester FC twice i hink my money is safe.
No doubt that Chester are in the box seat at the moment but there's still plenty of football to be played. There is a mini-league emerging at the top with Chester, Brackley and Guiseley in there, and Halifax capable of joining them if they can land their games in hand. The title could well come down to the head-to-heads, although Chester have a natural advantage with the strongest squad of all the contenders. Chester have hardly put a foot wrong yet, but they have been outplayed by Halifax in one league game (which they won) and the cup tie, so I don't think a Chester title win can be taken for granted. Guiseley and Brackley are looking strong, and both sides boast strong defences, hard-working midfields and good strike options, as well as match-winning performers who can turn a game when things aren't going their way. In truth, all of the four sides are capable of punching out successive wins. There remain for me a couple of question marks about Halifax about the strength and size of the squad - though to be fair they are better equipped than last season and they have a bit more to give. Price wise, there's currently little value in the four - I wouldn't want to back Chester at odds-on and I don't feel strongly enough about the other contenders to add more coverage. I'm on Chester and Halifax at July prices and I am content to let that ride. I think it will come down to those two, though cases can be made for Guiseley and Brackley. Any wobble from Chester and there are three very good teams ready to pounce.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 Thanks Ships, the re-signing of Mills is a boost. Just very impressed by them. £25k a week income talks at this level. Think its somethng like one defeat in 15. When you get a moment i would love an update on the other Divs.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 I have Halifax and Guiseley covered in the North which I am pretty happy with. I am going to have a run for my money and although I wouldn't have minded Chester on side I do think they are short enough in the market given how much of the season is left. As for the BSP I havn't got a clue who is going to win it at this stage. I have Luton, FGR and Mansfield covered and am happy enough with that with Mansfield looking like they might be able to get back into the reckoning. Wrexham looked good last week, but the size of the squad would worry me again, Newport have lost the plot and I'm still not sure about Grimsby although they would be the team I would most likely look to back again. The BSS looks wide open still. If Eastleigh can start winning away matches they still have a chance of winning the title. I am happy with my Boreham Wood bet as they look as if they will be bang there. Chelmsford are doing better than I thought, no surprise to see Dover up there and I just wonder if Salisbury might fall away at some stage.

I've got Luton and Grimsby EW in the Prem, although as addpea says it's wide open and neither of those sides are free from question marks. In truth, it's there for the taking if anyone can put a run together and there is some value in Mansfield. Salisbury's training regime should pay dividends through the winter and I can't see them slipping out of the top three, and though I've not seen them this season, the reports are that they are solid enough. From a betting point of view, I could really do with Eastleigh getting in the top three - it may be too much to ask for them to win it though with their backing and talent it's not out of the question. I need Fylde to go on a run in the Northern Prem, but they are capable of that, though I'm not sniffing at the 20s on Ferriby EW. I've coverage of Leam and Barwell in the Southern, and happy to be on Wealdstone (EW) and Whitehawk in the Ryman. Less sure about Met Police, although they are capable of a run and are now 50s at Coral - there are many worse 50/1 shots out there.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 As the Matlock game is on at the moment I am going to back them tonight. They out played Mansfield on Saturday and given how they struggled to beat Slough in the FA Cup and they have the 2nd round to come at the weekend, I think this game will matter more to Matlock. Its a sporting play I think at 14/5 with Hills

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 Hi Guys - first post on this forum. Just thought i would do an intro. I have been into NL betting for a while and really enjoy it. I have not had a bet on a premier league game for many seasons as it is very trappy and the bookies want you to play those matches . As a kid i used to go to watch Macc Town when they were a conference outfit. Also the odd trip to County (stockport) on a friday evening with my group of friends. I have never really followed sites before as they can sway my judgement , sometimes for better or worse. That way i cant blame anyone except myself !. Last season was kind to me as my 'main' bet was Woking @ 7/1 for the Con South won . Also was York @ 9/2 for prom and Chorley @ 7/1 in NPL (3rd) - sad to say they failed to kick on under Flitcroft after a promising previous season and have carried on the same manner this season. However a visit to Victory Park smells of industrial Lancastrian History (i believe it used to be previously the rugby ground) in my opinion it still remains as one of the great NL grounds. This Season my main investment is St Neots @ 8/1 (EW) as they appear to be on an upward curve. But i think Leamington are too strong and will win - 25 games unbeaten i think. They outclassed Neots recently i believe. I also have Guiseley @ 9/2 for promotion - i was too undecided about Chester or Halifax to play the outrights. My only midweek bet this week was going to be New Mills @15/13 - as Church Lane cuts up easily it was of no suprise to see it called off after all the recent rain. So my powder has been kept dry until the weekend. May i ask fellows members of this Parish as to what their most preferred staking system is ? and more importantly do you abide by it in the upswings and downswings ? - i just use a simple pounds per point system (never wager more than 3 pts). Usually always in Singles - sometimes a cheeky double. If anybody has a better one , let me know. Thank You Senco

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 Welcome to the forum Senco and it is always good to have new people on the non-league threads. Obviously its up to you if you take any of the tips that the rest of us put up, but we might well find something you have missed. I mainly stick to my own bets, but have backed others tips on here the past because I know the info is strong. I stake on a system of 1-5 points and have a set amount of pounds per point. I try and keep it the same during the season even during a bad spell although I did take a week off to clear my head a couple of weeks ago. Again singles is the way to go, but I do the odd double/treble if I think it is worth it.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 Welcome, Senco - good to have you on board. Singles are always the way to go and should be the basis of any betting session, though I generally save one 'single' and use that for doubles and accas. On a good weekend, it usually means a healthy return; on a bad one you hardly notice the damage. Staking gets harder when you have a bit of success at non-league level, as some of the windier bookies will target you very quickly. The vast majority of people on here are good honest punters who accept there's a DYOR element to any tip - the competition is with the bookies not each other. We've sometimes had the paid-for tipster drumming up trade on here, but they last about a week until we've had our fun with them - a handful of crazies and charlatans.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 cheers so far for feedback. Your point about the odd treble is a valid one as for a miserly 1pt a very decent return can be enjoyed.I tend to play on them pre season for one point last seasons was a treb Woking ,Fleetwood & Halifax which paid around 220/1 it came unstuck thanks to Halifax but it gave me a season of interest for just 1pt. My treble this season is Neots, Lowestoft and Grimsby . Am a little concerned that Lowestoft are begining to loiter around 4-6th position. Still there is a long way to go, hopefully they will go on a run like Reading did last season !

Agree with this, Scouse Joe. Fylde have enough pace to unsettle a ponderous Blyth side, who are really lacking a cutting edge despite the relatively decent run they've had. They were consistently outflanked by Nantwich on Saturday, and while Fylde won't have the same sort of counter-attacking opportunities as Nantwich did they do have better finishers.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Nov 26-28 hi folks, interesting developments at kendall town, lee ashcroft has resigned and gone to northwich by all accounts, even more interesting is that five or six players have left as well according to their forum, budget cuts etc and rumours some of them are joining lee at northwich. anyway the prospect of witton albion turning kendall over on saturday looks very probable and odds of 10-11 are on offer at bet365

Excellent spot, BG! Witton have been something of a surprise package this season and with Steve Foster on board they've some decent weaponry at this level. Though Kendal did them in the FA Cup in September it'll be a shadowy side that faces them on Saturday. Just praying for dry weather now...
