CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013

Recommended Posts

Xelajú vs Chivas Guadalajara Date: August 22, 2012, 04:00 CET Stadium: Estadio Mario Camposeco (Quetzaltenango) Xelajú (Guatemala) A stronghold their home has been with 4 victories in four matches in their local tournament, which contraste with the defeats on away in the same tournament. Coached by Costa Rican Hernán Medford, who made the team champions last year, which granted them to be on this competition. A blend of experience players except on the middlefield, but in comparisón the speed of Chivas youth players will be to much to handle. One thing is national level, but now on International level will face a tought match against a Chivas team that recovers their best players from national duty. Chivas Guadalajara (México) After a bad start in the local tournament where they face important teams as Cruz Azul, Santos Laguna and Toluca (current leader of the competition); the team finally won their first match. Despite the bad form the team had showed good defense and never lost by more than one goal and draw last two matches. A negative balance, but considering their most important players where not with the team, but with the olympic side that won the gold medal to Brazil (Miguel Ponce, Marco Fabian and Jorge Enriquez). With them back the team earn their first victory on away with a great assist from Marco Fabian (who is in great shape). The team will be without MF Jorge Enriquez, but Luis Perez will cover his absence without problems. Injured: Jorge "Chaton" Enriquez Match Mexico should dominate the actions due to their speed and the influence Marco Fabian has on the team. Together with great values on front as Carlos Fierro, chivas should obtain the victory. Prediction: Chivas Guadalajara @ 1.90 at Interwette 8/10

Re: CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 CONCACAF 22.8 - 4.00h Salt Lake – Tauro FC After a 1-0 loss in the first match against Herediano, Real Salt Lake must be win this match at home to hold the eyes on the next round. I don’t know a lot of information about Tauro, only that this team had playing 3 times in this tournament. 2 times they are eliminated in the Groups round and one time in the preliminary round. Salt Lake playing last weekend at home against Dallas, they are losing this match with 1:2 by a injury time goal. But a important fact in this match was that Salt Lake giving some players rest for this Concacaf match. Hopefully the one thing we gained out of tonight was some rest for a couple of our players so they're fresh and ready to go come Tuesday night," Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis said. All with all Salt Lake have a lot of more quality in my eyes than Tauro (I don’t know one player about that squad) and I think this can be a easy win for them. 3/10 Salt Lake -1.5 @ 1.80 Interwetten

CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 NORTH & CENTRAL AMERICA: CONCACAF Champions League 04:00 Esteli - Alajuelense PICK:3+(over 2,5 goals) ODD:1,90-2,10 STAKE:5/10 INFO: Esteli is semi-proffesional team from Nicaragua .What i found and info what i recived from my source from Tijuana is next: Estelli is currently on 3-rd position is Nicaragua first league. In their squad are only 3 players who are not from Nicuaragua(2 mexicans and 1 players from Colombia). They are the worst team in CONCACAF Champions League. In first game they was defeted by Tigres 4:0.Tigres was played that game with reserves and younger players. On the other side we have COSTA RICA team Alajuelense!Coach of home team Ó. Ramírez was rested all first squad in game 3 days ago against Deportivo Saprissa PRIMERA DIVISIÓN and match has finished 2:2.What is good result on away pitch. What is most important is that 1 week ago in this competition(NORTH & CENTRAL AMERICA: CONCACAF Champions League) Alajuelense playing game against Tigres and result was 2:2. For today match Alajuelense will arrived on game with strongest squad. And when we compared names from both teams we can see that Costa Rica's team is better than Estelli 3 times. odd on Alajuelense to win is around 2,00 but it's dropped and continue dropping,my bet will be on over 2,5 goals, because i belive that Alajuelense can score many times against poor Nicargua team!

Re: CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 Some comments on tonight's games... 1. Santos Laguna - Toronto Huge class gap here. Mexican teams are the kings of this tournament and Santos Laguna is one of the best teams in Mexico, despite their current standings. Toronto have very poor season in the MSL, where they are the team with the least points and the one which conceded the most goals. They actually get regularly beaten badly in their trips in the MSL. Their away form is a disaster. Partly their performance is due to their enormous injury list which consists of ten people, including six regular starters from last season. Last week they suffered from another blow as key defender Logan Emorygot badly injured.Toronto has only theoretical chance to go through in case they win in Mexico by huge margin which is virtually impossible. Info from Canada is that the team would take this game as a formality. Santos Laguna on the other hand is expected to field a strong line-up (expected to play star-forwards Oribe Peralta and Quintero) and to try to please their home supporters with a big victory. In April this year these two teams played again in this tournament and Santos won in Mexico by 6-2. They also won the away fixture of this edition of the tournament in Toronto by 3-1. It is interesting that they have only victories in home games against non-Mexican teams in this tournaments. I just cannot see past huge victory for Santos. Santos -1.5 @ 1.725 (bet365) 2. Seattle Sounders - Marathon Usually US and Mexican sides have no problem at home in this tournament against other teams from Central America. Seattle Sounders is the definite and undisputed winner of this group. In fact, they have something to play for - despite pleasing their fans, if they win here, they guarantee that they will be among the four best teams in draw for the quarter-finals. However, Seattle are the moment also struggling for a better position in the Major Soccer League play-offs, and they have a vital game vs. LA Galaxy during the weekend. This makes me a bit undecided about this one. However, even if they put some substitute players on, I still think it won't be a problem for them to secure the victory against weaker and demotivated guests. But maybe I will rather skip this one because of the LA Galaxy fixture.

I've been looking at this game too. As you say, Mexican sides dominate the Concacaf Champions League. I remember seeing Santos thrash Toronto 6-2 earlier this year (it was last season's semi-final), and their attacking play was something else! Toronto did twice take the lead in that game though. It was 2-2 at half time, but Santos completely dominated the second half, scoring four times. Tonight, Toronto have a theoretical chance of qualifying ahead of Santos, but to do so they have to score at least 3 goals - http://www.thestar.com/sports/soccer/article/1276116--toronto-fc-needs-big-win-in-mexico-to-advance-in-concacaf-champions-league So, with the weaker Toronto having to push forwards, it sets things up nicely for Santos to launch killer counter attacks. Santos don't have to win, and could even afford to lose and still qualify. But that hardly seems to be their style. Santos have won 19 of their last 20 home Champions League games, often by big margins. I haven't checked, but I'm sure they didn't have to win them all - http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2012/10/25/nc-america/concacaf-champions-league/club-santos-laguna/toronto-fc/1300146/ Can Toronto raise their game and perhaps get a draw or even a narrow win? Toronto have played reasonably well in the Champions League this season despite poor MLS form. If Santos were away from home, I think they might settle for a draw, but at home they seem unlikely to settle for that. I think if you stand back and look at all the factors, a high-scoring Santos win seems likely - perhaps something like 3-1 or 4-1. So the above bet looks good value, I think.

Re: CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 Ended Santos Laguna 1 Toronto 0 Yes, I saw some of it :p. As expected, Santos Laguna dominated the game. Toronto, instead of trying to score, chose to pack their half of the pitch to restrict Santos's attacking movement. It reminded me of now North Korea played in the last World Cup - defence no matter what the score. This despite Toronto having to score 3 goals to stand a chance of qualifying. So Toronto rarely went forward, and the anticipated open game never really arrived. Santos had nearly all the chances, most of them in the second half, and eventually scored near the end. Even then Toronto didn't open up. It seems they more or less accepted they didn't stand a chance and just chose to keep the score down - and they succeeded in doing that.

LOL - they not only did not attack but in fact Toronto were time wasting and got several yellow cards for that! It is probably the first time in my life where I see the team that needs goals to waste time against the time that is happy with the score. Santos were far superior - they were entering Toronto's penalty area with such an ease as if it was a training session. But they weren't concentrated at all. I got the feeling that if they needed a score they could have easily scored 5 or 6. However, let me stop with the excuses. The fact is that the best lost. Mainly because of Toronto's weird attitude, but also because Santos were a bit careless.

Re: CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 Isidro Metapan (El Salvador) v Los Angeles Galaxy (USA) 3.85 / 3.71 / 2.20 Bit of a dead rubber as Metapan are already eliminated and LA are already through, though an LA victory or draw would help their ranking going into the quarter-finals. Isidro Metapan are arguably the best team in El Salvador at the moment, and they have a decent record at home in the Champions League. Over the last few seasons they've beaten some decent teams on their home ground, including Houston Dynamos (USA), Pumas and Santos Laguna (both Mexico). I'm unsure about the starting line-up at the moment, but from what I've been reading it looks as though Metapan are likely to use a mixture of first team and reserve players, though they have talked about wanting revenge on the Galaxy for defeat in LA so hopefully it will be a fairly strong starting squad. As far as the Galaxy are concerned, their coach Bruce Arena isn't a massive fan of the Champions League, seeing it as more of a distraction from the important task of winning the MLS title. He's used a mix of reserve and first team players so far in this competition, which includes a 5-2 home win over Metapan, a 4-0 home win over Puerto Rico and a 0-0 away draw. However today he's sending a squad of 15 players to El Salvador with only two players who could loosely be described as first team players. All the big guns (Donovan, Beckham, Keane, Juninho, Magee, etc) are staying home. The first meeting at the Home Depot was contested by a full strength Galaxy squad and ended with a convincing win. The game will be totally different, a young inexperienced squad taking on a decent El Salvadorian team, away from home. The odds aren't as big as I was hoping (was looking for at least 4.00), so not had as much as I was going to but I still feel there is some decent value there. They also seem to be slowly creeping up on Betfair (up to 3.85 now) so they may well hit the magic marker, in which case I'll probably top up slightly. Isidro Metapan @ 3.85 (Betfair) - 3 points

Interesting tip Metapan's home record is miles better than Galaxy's away record in the Champions League, so you could argue Metapan should be favourites - http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2012/10/26/nc-america/concacaf-champions-league/asociacion-deportiva-isidro-metapan/los-angeles-galaxy/1300150/ On the other hand, this article suggests Galaxy will be taking it seriously as the outcome will determine their seeding for the group stage. According to this article, Galaxy have played reserve players in 2 out of 3 of the previous group games - http://www.mlssoccer.com/ccl/news/article/2012/10/25/ccl-defeat-la-galaxy-could-prove-disastrous-qfs

Re: CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 About the match Seattle Sounders v Tigres de la UANL According to this article from a newspaper of Seattle, Tigres doesn't take this game serious. http://blogs.seattletimes.com/soundersfc/2013/03/11/tigres-uanl-leaves-many-starters-at-home-according-to-team-website/ A lot of starting players from the first leg, didn't travel to Seattle. I don't know anything about Seattle and Tigres, but do you guys think Seattle Sounders will win?

Re: CONCACAF Champions League 2012/2013 Wow 1.61 odds above on Santos Laguna would have been a steal. They are now only 1.36 with Bet 365 and rightfully so. Seattle will be without new designated player Obafemi Martins and their other top attacker, Eddie Johnson, is just coming back from a hamstring injury and is a game time decision. I imagine Seattle will stack their mid and try and soak up the pressure and would be happy with a tie at half and hope for a 2nd half counter attack or set piece goal. Unfortunately for them, Santos Laguna will gladly attack and try to end the contest early with a goal. I was hoping for better than 2.750 (bet365) for the half -1 AH especially because of what I mentioned above for Seattle's tactics so I'm going to shy away from this now. For me, I'm going to watch in play and try and find a good opportunity to pounce. If Seattle happens to score first, look for opportunities like Santos Laguna to win at HT (if Seattle scores before the 25th min) or Santos to win FT (or even win by a margin) if it's later than the 25th min. I have no doubt Santos Laguna will qualify here. If Santos Laguna score first, look for opportunities like Santos Laguna -1 AH HT (if they score before the 20/25th min.) or Santos Laguna -1 AH FT (or even -2) if it's later. If Seattle goes down, they have to put pressure on for 2 goals and this will open up the game and Santos will punish them. Last year, Santos Laguna crushed Seattle 6-1 at home in the Quarter finals and then crushed my poor TFC 6-2 at home in the semi finals. They show no mercy when it gets to this stage and I expect we will see another massacre tonight. Good luck if anyone is thinking of taking a punt.
