Re: League 1 - April 21 Sheff Wed - Carlisle In recent weeks I've been very successful Laying the faves (not to win) and I see this as a reasonable if slightly opportunist match. On Tuesday I had 3 out of 3 winning Lays so I'm feeling confident of this new to me strategy, Histon v Droylesden 5-5 !!!, Hampton & Richmond v Salisbury 1-2, Rushall Olympic v Frickley 2-2. Carlisle are fighting for what would appear to be the one realistic remaining Play Off place. With Wednesday desperate for the automatic I see this being a tight game. Sheff Weds home record is superb, however it needs to be noted that the last 4 home wins have all been against teams they "should" have beaten anyhow as all were in poor form/lowly positions. They were beaten by Charlton 0-1 in the last home game, and two recent 0-0 draws with Scun and PNE suggests to me Carlisle should be capable of getting something here. Only one of Carlisle's last 6 aways has gone Over 2.5, a 1-2 win at MK. H2H is very good for Carlisle : [TABLE=class: matches]

Re: League 1 - April 21 Oldham v Preston What the ....Oldham failed to score in 6 consecutive games, losing every one of them, until they managed a 2-2 at Wycombe last week, and they're hardly world beaters ! Their special offer of £15 for 5 home matches hasnt seemed to work well either, crowds still only around 3500 recently, but then why pay anything at all to watch what I guess is pure rubbish. Here we have a relatively local derby, 27 miles apart, plenty of pride at stake. Oldham in absolute dire form getting closer to the 4th divison with every game. Can they turn it around in this match ? I very much doubt it. Prestons recently appointed manager in January hasn't had much success since signing but its noticeable they haven't lost many matches, 7 of the last 13 being drawn. He seems to have brought his love of the 0-0 with him from Steveage, in Feb/March 3 x 0-0 in 4 matches ! :zzz Preston haven't had back to back wins since 27 Sept 2011, that is totally unacceptable and surely that stat will not have a better chance of being broken than at this weekends hosts ? Only once though in their last 18 games have Preston scored more than one goal ! When everything is taken in to consideration, this game appears to be destined to be a pile of crap even before a ball has been kicked ! How the reverse fixture finished 3-3 back in October is a mystery, although they hadn't met for 12 years prior to that, making up for lost time maybe ? In the late 90's Oldham failed to win in any of their last 5 meetings. 5 of the last 7 between them have been Under 2.5 Oldham Not To Win, Lay Odds @ 2.24 Betfair (Translates to £7.66 won (after commision) for a £10 liability) May be better value in the Asian Handicap if someone can check it out and post accordingly. Thanks

Re: League 1 - April 21

any tips for an accumulator
liam, welcome to punters lounge. the first thing you'll need to do to make yourself popular on here is to read the forum rules, ive inserted the link below. the type of posting you've made isn't what we're about. if you did want any tips for an accumulator you should at least say "please." take a look at the amount of time and effort other contributors go to in supplying detailed analysis for you to read free of charge, such as my entries in this thread. those two match previews took well over an hour, so someone posting just five words will get the response that matches the posting, none ! all the stats are available on line for you to work out what could make a decent accumulator, feel free to make some selections and we'll cast our opinions on them by all means, not forgetting of course to include West Ham Not To Win at Leicester as one of them ;) http://forum.punterslounge.com/threads/41369-Punters-Lounge-House-Rules

Wednesday are in better form than Carlisle, but I think Carlisle are capable of getting something from this game. Not really a derby, but Carlisle will probably take quite a few fans to Hillsborough. I think Wednesday are too short at around 1.67 and Carlisle too long at around 5.75, so I agree with you NA, I think there is value opposing Wednesday.

Re: League 1 - April 21 Tranmere vs Hartlepool - Tranmere @ EVS. These two sides have pretty much secured their status in League One so this match won't matter too much, well at first glance. Since Ronnie Moore has taken over at Prenton Park, he has seen his side win six matches, draw two and only lose two. Quite a feat considering their form at the turn of the year under Les Parry. He has yet to taste defeat at home, winning four and drawing the remaining one. They secured their status away at Walsall on Saturday, so it this could be a dead rubber, but I just can't see Ronnie Moore letting his side drop off and hand the points over. Same can't be said for Hartlepool. They've only won once in the last 10, scoring only four goals during that period. Tranmere took the three-points in the reverse fixture and I can see it happening again here.

Re: League 1 - April 21 One thing I look at before betting is motivation, mood in the camp, etc. I remember before Charlton game Carlisle's manager said that his players lack belief or something along those lines. I imagine how they feel now after losing to Charlton and Stevenage. They seem to be on a downward spiral and although I agree price on Wednesday is too low and I won't take it I think that laying Wednesday is free money for the bookie.

Re: League 1 - April 21

cheers m8 ' date=' my bad.[/quote'] you're welcome mate, thanks for the reply. i couldnt message you privately because only members with 50+ postings can receive emails. if you're fairly new to on line betting take a look at some of my work in the systems and strategies forum, theres alot of useful info there. i think you'll find most people on punters lounge go for single bets but using relatively high stakes for what they believe are high probabilities. in most cases the odds won't be anywhere near as high as you're looking for with your accies, but the chance of a win is higher. my favourite bets are Under 3.5 goals, and Laying teams not to win. let's not derail this thread, any questions post an entry on one of my systems' postings. thanks :ok

Agree this one looks pretty nailed on. This fixture has a dismal return of only 2 goals in 3 plays ! Hartlepool don't concede many so I think any bet on this game should be back with the 0-0 for full stake protection, 0-0 odds are 11.0 on Betfair and will prob go a bit higher.

Re: League 1 - April 21 I completely agree with SoundingStylish on Tranmere, they are a side with alot of young kids coming through looking to prove themselves ahead of next season. They are playing well and come up against an out of form Hartlepool. Chesterfield are another team on my shortlist for the weekend, they have started scoring goals and seem to have gained confidence from their win at Wembley against Swindon. It still looks like a fruitless mission, they are doomed to be relegated back to League 2 unless a very unlikely set of results happen from now until the end of the season. Rochdale are Rock bottom however and will most likely be relegated by 5pm on sat. they had a good come-from-behind win last weekend at home but they do not fill me with confidence.

I imagine how they feel now after losing to Charlton and Stevenage.[/quote'] Motivation and belief are certainly important. It's honest of a manager to say that about his players, but of course it's his job to help give them that belief to forge a winning mentality. If Carlisle's players start the game against Wednesday believing they will lose or that there's no point because they won't make the playoffs anyway and they've already blown it, then as you say, you wouldn't want to back them.

Re: League 1 - April 21 Milton Keynes Franchise - Sheffield Unied - 2 DNB @ 1.91 with William Hill I think what we have here is a good value on the away team. The Blades have now got incredible momentum and won six out of last six scoring 20 goals in the process. They will be extremely motivated as their local rivals are just 4 points behind them and winning at Stadium MK would mean that they can cross the automatic promotion line with one game to spare. Franchise have recently been of the boil slightly. Yes they have back to back 3-0 victories but those came against teams lower doqn the table - Scunthorpe and Tranmere. Prior to that they lost at home to Brentford and Carlisle which suggests that they may struggle against teams playing for promotion or playoff. Another intresting fact is that Milton Keynes Club Stealers have not won a game against any top four teams - they have two draws against Huddersfield, draws at home and defeats away to Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton and a defeat against Sheff United. I know, the above points towards a draw - but I am going to keep faith in the team is is top of the form table at the moment.

I was about to post the same thing, but you beat me to it :ok MK Dons are pretty safe with a playoff place. Sheffield United have the much bigger prize of automatic promotion within their grasp, so have they have more to play for. And their recent form is better than MK Dons. I think they are too long, and certainly look good value at 1.91 DNB.

It'a derby of sorts, and with Oldham's poor home record and Preston in better form, I think Preston are good value at 3.6

Just to add. Teenagers Luke James and Ryan Noble will continue as the two strikers. Another teenager, Jack Baldwin, could also start for Hartlepool due to their injury problems. Ronnie Moore has said he is taking this game very seriously, despite giving a couple of the fringe players a chance, he still expects them to impress him.

Re: League 1 - April 21

no one hs mentioned the side i fancy the most. Notts county -1 over Bury. Obv high motivation as they chase a playoff place and Bury have been pretty poor on the road lately
Hi Notts fan here.not sure about this one, Lloyd Sam (5 goals in 7 since loan move from Leeds) is doubtful as is Lee Hughes(as always) so goals may be hard to come by tomorrow.

Chesterfield vs Rochdale. Over 2.5 goals. Only match in league one that interests me this week the statistics and ladder positions suggest goals in this one. Chesterfield have gone overs in their last 5 matches with a staggering 22 goals being scored. Rochdale on the other hand have gone overs in their last 4 games with 22 goals in total being scored. Both teams simply have to win to have any chance of staying up so goals should be the order of the day. 7 points @ $1.68 Tab sportsbet. Shop around there is better prices out there.

Re: League 1 - April 21 MK Dons vs Sheffield Utd - Sheff Utd 2.86 @ Betfair Good value on Sheffield Utd here. They're on a great run of form, winning their last 6 games and scoring 26 goals in the process and will be looking to carry that good run on as long as possible, what with Sheff Wed only 4 points off them in the chase for promotion. MK Dons' form is less consistent, albeit they've won their last 2 but before that they'd lost their last two home games, to Brentford and Carlisle. Confident about Utd getting a result here, and the price looks very good, taking into account both teams' form. Re:Ched Evans: I'm not sure what Utd's reaction to this will be, and it's true that it may adversely affect them here. But there's still great value in them winning tomorrow and I'd be unwilling to write off their chances based solely on this affair. Leyton Orient vs Yeovil - Yeovil 3.55 @ Betfair Not an easy one to call this, but I like the odds on Yeovil. Both teams are on very bad runs, but Orient's is particularly dismal: 5 losses in a row, scoring just 2 goals. Of course, Yeovil's isn't much better, particularly with that 0-6 loss to Stevenage last week. But they'll be looking to make amends for that here, and are facing a team that have very little going for them. They'll also be looking to pull clear of the relegation zone and secure League One status for next season, which they will effectively do with a win here. They performed decently against Rochdale and Bournemouth recently, and at this price it's definitely worth a punt. Stevenage vs Brentford - Stevenage 2.3 @ Betfair I fancy Stevenage here, considering their 2 very good recent results: 6-0 against Yeovil and a 1-0 victory over Carlisle. They're still well in the hunt for a playoff position, and will want a result here, against playoff rivals Brentford whose good form has slightly dipped, with 2 goalless draws against Notts County and Hartlepool. Quite a few people might fancy Brentford here, but I really think that Stevenage are starting up a good run of form now and I'm willing to back them to continue it here. £10 Treble on these three results pays £196 @ Betfair

Re: League 1 - April 21 I've read several reports on the Evans case carefully but I'm interested as to the reason why he was found guilty and McDonald not. Does anyone have a link to where the exact reasoning can be found please, to me everything I've read suggests they were both guilty of the same offence.

Re: League 1 - April 21 Nervous Anorak - I was going through Sheff U fans forum and the explanation there is that the girl went with MacDonald to the hotel room giving him grounds to believe he had her consent while Evans just turned up and joined the action. For me the whole case shows how spoilt and thick footballers are and thank God I stopped idolising them in my teens. Clubs should have some responsibility apart from paying them silly wages but that's a topic for another discussion.

Re: League 1 - April 21 Re Notts - Lee Hughes and Lloyd Sam should both be fit, but I wouldn't touch us at current odds. We OUGHT to win, but it will be a nervy game played at an early hour (12.30pm ko). Re Sheffield Weds - Carlisle. Clear home win for me. Since Carlisle's leading scorer and talisman Lee Miller was ruled out for the season a couple of weeks ago, they've been in a downward spiral. At the time, their fans predicted that was it for their play-off hopes, and their dire warnings have come to fruition so far. Wednesday are on fire at home under Dave Jones, and I think they'll have too much for Carlisle. My bet of the day in L1 is Charlton (-1) v Wycombe @ 2.14 (Betdaq). Charlton will still want the points to claim the title - no easing off here. Wycombe need the points too, but have a defensive crisis, most notably missing Gary Doherty, who is on loan from Charlton but who isn't allowed to play. Wycombe asked for permission, but Charlton turned them down - a sign they are hungry for the points. Good luck.

Probably we all little risking and crazy to go with them, after reading your post I am convinced my self to go with them with the european handicap -1 @ 2.55; only things I hope they will not be drunk when entering the field today and gift another celebration to the 20 000 fans that are coming today at the stadium. In striker position should start kermorgant and Wright Phillips and as you said this is a sign of the fact they want to win well! Let's hope there will be not to much shaky defense, and amen here we go or it will break. So come on ADDICKs !!

Re: League 1 - April 21

Milton Keynes Franchise - Sheffield Unied - 2 DNB @ 1.91 with William Hill
Franchise 1 Blades 0 - bet lost :(. Disastrous weekend with two of my main bets lost and strangely I believe that both have been lost due to off the pitch factors. I wonder how much the shagboy Evans case affected the team. Another downside is that Franchise have now secured a playoff spot. Drinks on me to the team who knock them down.
