Samba_SamPa
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour is coming back for 2012 Tame first hour to the day ending in going out really. I was 9th of 14, but the redraw put me on a table where I was 6th of 7 with Dean Aldred, who had by far the most chips (just under 1/4m) immediately to my left. A shortie on the other table was all in and called, won AK > AJ to double up and I was 10th. Another shortie on the other table all in and called, won KT > AA (!) when river J completed a K-high straight, and I was 11th. Then the bubble burst, lad on other table losing another AJ
Spitvenom
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour is coming back for 2012 Nice to hear you made the cash Pete, well done mate :clap . I really enjoyed the poker, as I havent played live for yonks, apart from when I lost the cooler hand at the end, that was a bummer just near the cash! One of the highlights for me was a move Pete (Samba) made on the table when we were sat together. A guy 2 to the left was a serial min raiser, and was obviously pushing junk much of the time, so pete 3 bet him. The guy thought for a minute and reraised again. Pete paused for a second or 2 then re-raised again which probably meant he had around half his stack in the middle. The guy tanked for a couple of minutes before reluctanly folding. As Pete raked in a sizeable pot, he showed me his 27 of spades before he threw it in the muck, and it was hard to keep a straight face at the table :lol You have brass balls Pete :notworthy Was good to see the guys from the forum, and also to meet Pete for the 1st time. I do hope your lad makes a quick and speedy recovery graeme!
Bart(UK)
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour is coming back for 2012 Well done guys, a great showing once again from the awesomeness that is Team PL :clap, well done Pete/unlucky John & others. Newcastle just a little too far to travel for me this time out but will definately be in Brighton for the next leg, hope to see lots of you there. And above all else, hoping mini-morls makes a quick recovery and feels better real soon :hope
morlspin
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour is coming back for 2012 Well played Pete! Good news so far for us, Jack is home with an Inhaler and Steroids to aid his recovery, he has a virus which has made breathing difficult and has left water in his lungs, its not pneumonia but similar. Docs said that with both the inhaler and steroids he should be fit and well in a few days. James is also home, has a black and white cast on his leg and goes back on Wednesday to see if the bone is curving still, if not, its all done and he comes home with a cast and will be 6-8 weeks to recover fully, if its curving still, he will need another operation and pins/wires inserted to straighten the bones up. :hope Thanks for the messages both on here and via text/facebook, does help and means a lot. We all love our poker, but kids and family come first. :ok

Plus we were both chipped up and must have been effective stacks of about 65x BBs at 400/800. We'll never know what he folded, but at the time I reckoned to myself that I could get him to fold definitely JJ, and probably QQ, given my betting clearly showed I had a monster ;) What did you think I had when it was going on? [edit: I think these blinds must be wrong, I reckon it must have been 600/1200, I probably had about 55k, and he a little more, so a little less than 50 x BBs deep) Structure was excellent, a little too good perhaps, some were saying, but I thought it was just right for the number of players. 1am finish on Day 1 isn't too late really? Definitely well worth playing this year, going to see if I can get to the Leeds one later in the year :hope

I had you on Ak / AQ tbh. Not sure what he thought, but your last bet left him in no doubt that if he went again all the chips would be going in as you had around half your chips in, and I don't think he wanted to risk any more at that level. it felt like he was desperate to see a flop. Very good bet sizing on your part I thought, and a great bluff! As you say was a good structure and not as hurried as last years, which was good as I was card dead for around 2 hours, and still managed to chip back up when a few cards came. Hopefully will make the Leeds event, but Brighton's a bit far for us. Well done again, FT next time!!

Was a really good hand. Reminded me of this one ;) He didn't make the money in the end, and I honestly think he was just getting a lot of cards. I tried three-betting him in what seemed a good spot and he jammed on me and looked so happy with it I folded when I planned to snap him off. He said he had AK when I told him I would have snapped off with AQ and I am 100% he was telling the truth. Really glad to hear all is OK with the family Morls. Was gutted for you mate, so glad it's all turned out OK. Hope to see you in Leeds at least it not Brighton. I agree on the structure. Absolutely superb, with a ton of play in it. I was never really in shove or fold mode until about 10 levels in. Still managed to dust off my stack well before the money. Standard. Had a good craic with chromhead on the rail and good to meet some of the other PL lads. Here's to seeing a few of you in Brighton.

Yep there are another set of GTD qualifiers in the next issue, and Grosvenor will be running weeklies too. You can buy in directly on the client shortly I believe. rocque
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton As Premier Inns go the Burgess Hill one is quite expensive, starts at about £79. Not sure of the price but you might try the Travelodge at Hickstead (a bit grotty) or The Hickstead Hotel. Both just outside Burgess Hill and about 10 miles to Brighton
rocque
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton Just happens to be the Hickstead Derby that weekend. reb33
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton You will struggle to get anywhere cheaper than £80 on a Saturday in Brighton Hen - Westbourne Hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the casino and is one of the better cheap hotels in town - otherwise Telscombe Tavern is a great place to stay, it's a 10 minute taxi ride (£15) and does B&B at around £50. Hopefully see you on the 23rd.
bigbadken
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton I was up for this leg, but gotta say, im dissapointed that i cant find, any daily and weekly sats. Ive found the ones from the poker player mag, which seems to be an achievment in itself from the ipoker lobby.:p It does not seem to be so well sorted now unfortunately. Bart(UK)
Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton One of the Grosvenor Poker Managers confirmed to me the other day on twitter that there will be daily and weekly sats. These will be set up after the latest magazine exclusive sats have been played, I'm guessing to ensure the Mag games get maximum support. I'm sure PL members will be represented on masse in both the online sats and the live event giving a little support back to both Poker Player Mag and Grosvenor who themselves have provided PL & it's members massive support and added value :ok Looking forward to the trip decked out in my PL/GCasino branded top spreading the news of how great PL is, just hope I can get a seat relatively cheaply. Going to be tough against the quality we have in PL, but best of :hope to everyone. See you at the bar :cheers p.s. I will driving in on the day from the Portsmouth direction. If anyone is in a hotel along this route, it may be possible to pick you up on route. Just drop me a pm. # Please note that I'm currently 98% ok to attend, but with my mum due another operation on an as yet unknown date, it's just possible I may not be available.
