Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Hi guys, 1 pick for ATP WASHINGTON LEGG MASON 1st round tonight: KAMKE TO DEFEAT KUDLA @ 1.4 on pinnaclesports/unibet Kamke with good game for all surfaces with powerful and consistent baseline game against a local wild-card Kudla without any solid results on ATP level.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Two crazy outrights for me. (1/10) Albert Montanes to win ATP Kitzbuhel @ 17.00 with Bet365 (1,2 1/2) (E-W) Might seem crazy, as he hasnt done anything worth noticing this year, but this might be his tournament. If he gets past Kohlschreiber the draw opens up nicely and I would fancy him against Chela, Fognini and that guy that won Gstaad ;). 17.00 seems to be a bit much. (1/10) Jurgen Melzer to win ATP Washington @ 12.00 with Bet365 (1,2 1/2) (E-W) He really needs to get a good run somewhere and his draw looks pretty decent. My projected road to the finals is somewhere around Young-Malisse-Baghdatis/Bellucci-Fish and that is not that bad at this price, especially as Fish might drop out at any point due to fatigue.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August And one overly optimistic bet at early odds :p. (3/10) A.Bogomolov to bt. R.Sweeting @ 1.95 with Pinnacle I think that Bogomolov should be the favourite here due to recent form. I have seen a couple of their matches and Sweeting is even more brainless than Bogomolov. H2H is pretty close, but I think that Bogomolov can prevail here and I would have his at around 1.80.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Couple of outrights from me: Fernando Verdasco to win Legg Mason Classic @ 13 E/W with Betfred (1/10) Been finding a bit of form on the clay over the past couple of weeks after a disappointing few months. Although the transition from clay to hard courts is never easy, his route to the final is likely to be Berankis, a fading Davydenko, Mardy Fish (who has played a lot of tennis in recent weeks) and Melzer who has been pretty poor this year. Ana Ivanovic to win Mercury Insurance Open @ 21 E/W with Bet365 (1/10) A risky choice and it will be a rollercoaster ride whatever happens, but I feel that she is in a relatively weak quarter of the draw relative to the others. Morita, Penetta and Peng will not be easy, but they are all winnable matches, leading to a potential semi-final against Zvonareva. While she is always prone to imploding at a moment's notice, 21 seems a touch on the large side.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Sport Tennis Event Rosol - Andujar Selection Rosol Strength 10/10 Date 01/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.50 Reasoning Rosol is my favourite in this match. Rosol in last season go to the QF. Kitzbuhel courts are fast and are perfect for big server like Rosol. Can defend this points. Andujar in last weeks made many points for ATP rank(top50) and don't must play here.. Pablo in next week is on the entry list for Rogers Cup in Canada, on hard courts. Tank? I can image it. In last week lose in straight sets against similar player to Rosol - Bachinger. Sport Tennis Event Volandri - Granollers Selection Volandri Strength 10/10 Date 02/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bwin @ 2.55 Reasoning Simlar reason like in pick Rosol-Andujar. Volandri is motivated, in last year in this weekend go to the Final in Ch. Have points to defend. Form is good. Granollers don't have any points to defend, on sunday take title in Gstaad and in next week play on hard courts in Canada. In Bwin rules retired is win..

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Don't think i'm going to have much time to do match picks this week so have gone for a few outrights just to keep things interesting during the week. Vera Zvonereva to win Carlsbad - 5.0 with Stan James - (2/10) Ok not really much of a pick given that Zvonereva is top seed here and the only top 10 player in the draw. She generally goes very well on hard courts both in the US and overseas. A semi at Australian Open has been followed by another two wins and two semis in other hard court events this season. She also has a fantastic hard court season at the back end of 2010, so will be confident on this surface, and given her ranking shouldn't be fearing anyone in this draw. Marcos Baghdatis to win Washington ATP - 17.0 at Paddy Power (1/10) Annoyed I didn't but this on last night, as the price has dropped by 4.0 points overnight. I guess Marcos and this bet could fail spectactularly if he keeps up his 2011 form, where he has struggled on this surface, and indeed lost last week in the LA event in the first round. However if any tournament was the one for him to pick up his form its this one. Its a more prestige tournament, he has a bye in the first round so extra rest and practice, has the easier side of the draw in my opinion and has good H2H's against some of what I would consider the other major competitors here. He certainly has a good chance as any to make the final again as he did last year at this event. Fabio Fognini to win Kitzbuhel - 15.0 BetFred (1/10) Fognini has never won a top level singles title but he is having a strong 2011 on the clay (his favoured surface) and I feel that win might not be too far off. He has been a nearly man in a number of occasions over the last couple of years, and indeed the last few months, where he has made the semi's at Umag, and the Qtr's at Roland Garros. This tournament is one of the last clay ones of the season and as its his preffered surface I would suggest its one of the last chances for him to get a winners trophy this year. :hope

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Hi guys, 2 picks for ATP KITZBUEL 1st round: MONTANES TO DEFEAT MARTI BY 2:0 SETS @ 1.53 on ladbrokes SEPPI TO DEFEAT ISTOMIN @ 1.37 on pinnaclesports Marti has some good results but he can't compete with Montanes on clay in terms of consistency and power. Providing Montanes is healthy, should be an easy win for him. Solid clay courter and defending champion Seppi against an erratic Istomin. Easy 6:1,6:0 win for Seppi easlier on this year.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Softly softly approach from me today, with just the one bet so far. Pablo Andujar v Lukas Rosol - Lukas Rosol +2.5 games @ 2.01 with Pinnacle 4pts Evidently Andujar has a better game than Rosol in terms of aesthetics, but I think he might struggle in this match. The Spaniard is a really good player against opponents who don't play with much power. However, he does struggle against big hitters. His recent defeats on clay show this. Nicolas Almagro, Thomaz Bellucci, Fernando Verdasco and Matthias Bachinger have all beaten him on the red brick in his last few clay events. Now, Rosol is only really comparable to Bachinger in terms of ranking, but the Czech has had something of a breakthrough year. Good results on clay, including at Roland Garros. He has a big serve and massive forehand. Slightly erratic, but he can hit through frailer players, and I class Andujar as one of those. Worth a play, although with a small stake.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August

How has Oudin been? 2.15 v Baltacha is the gut feeling Haven't seen her progress since she made her mark at the US Open :unsure
Might be a slight value (you can get even better odds atm), but I would not want to put any money on a match between the two. Both are really unpredictable at the moment. Can't leave today without a bet obv. (3/10) R.Stepanek/P.Petzschner - Over 22.5 games @ 1.92 with Pinnacle Two guys that know how to hold serve and love to attack - that can easily lead to overs here. I do not see many breaks in this one, especially on this rather quick surface. Expect a lot of short points, volleys, etc. Not much to see, but the overs can go here. (3/10) R.Berankis to bt. M.Matosevic @ 1.80 with Eurobet Going with the quality here. Ricardas Berankis absolutely demolished Matosevic at the beginning of this year, so this only depends on his fitness here. However, he showed glimpses of good form against Harrison and he got some additional practice in the doubles in Atlanta, so he should be sharp here.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Hi! Couple WTA matches from Carlsbad for me. 1) Coco Vandeweghe > Sorana Cirstea. 1.95 @ Pinnacle (5/10) Wrong odds for me. Coco Vandeweghe has to defend quarter final from last year. She had incredible tournament in San Diego, she beat Vera Zvonareva amongst others. Sorana Cirstea not much of a hard courts player and generally prefers clay. She has no motivation for this week, no points to defend and I don't think she will be able to cope with Vandeweghe's massive serve. Coco is slightly better player on hard courts and should win this match. 2) Zoe Gwen Scandalis vs Christina McHale. Under 17.5 games. 1.74 @ Pinnacle (7/10) Zoe Gwen Scandalis sounds horribly wrong for a tennis player. And her results have not been much better to be perfectly honest. This is an American teenager ranked 960th and with very little experience. This will be her first main draw match at this level and only 6th match including Challengers. She's beaten couple players here in qualies but prior to that has lost previous 3 matches. One of those was 1-6, 0-6 against Bojana Jovanovski in New Haven last year. That's the strongest player she's faced thus far. McHale plays quality tennis with few unforced errors and her defense is great. Has to be a demolition here. I prefer unders over handicaps only because odds are better. Both should work, though.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Lukas Rosol really should have covered the +2.5 game handicap. He was a set and a break up and then served to see out the line in the final set. Sadly his game appeared to have fallen to pieces by the final set. Still think Pablo Andujar struggles against big hitters - even more so at altitude - so will be looking out for him again. On to tonight. I have one bet, from Washington. Ivo Karlovic v Michael Russell - Michael Russell +1.5 games @ 1.833 with Pinnacle 6pts A year ago I would never have taken this bet, but I really do feel Karlovic is a spent force. Of course, he still has his big serve, but his movement more and more lets him down, and even his consistency on delivery is starting to wane. Russell's a hard man to take down on an American hard court when you're totally reliant on serve. He's discovered a certain element of toughness this year and should have the beating of the Croat in rallies. He actually beat Karlovic in Memphis 6-1 7-6 earlier this year, which I think shows that the American has a live chance in this one. I think he's in better shape than Karlovic, whose last action came at Newport, when he lost to Denis Kudla. Not brave enough to pull the trigger on the outright - think it's sensible to take Russell on the plus, because Karlovic matches can be notoriously tight and even a +1.5 could swing it. Wouldn't be offering Russell on this sort of line if I was a bookie, so I'll happily snap on it.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Sport Tennis Event Blake - Ito Selection Under 19.5 Strength 10/10 Date 02/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 2.00 Reasoning Blake: James play at home, high motivation. 5 weeks ago won tournament in Winettka on hard court, in Atlanta beat Gulbis in 3 and lose against Isner in 3. In LA lost against Del Potro in two close sets. Ito: In last two weeks show awful performance - only two games against Kosakowski and only 4 against Devvarman. I see Blake win in two sets Sport Tennis Event Granollers - Volandri Selection Granollers -3 (Asian-handicap) Strength 10/10 Date 02/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price 10bet @ 1.90 Reasoning Granollers: Marcel in last weekend won tournament in Switzerland - destroy Bohli, Andreev and Wawrinka on the way. 3 sets against Youzhny and Verdasco, not must be tired. Volandri: Pippo is challanger level, in last week in Umag won against Pavic(who?) and won only 3 games against Dolgopolov. Form is not on the Spanish player level. Granollers make revange on the Volandri. Lost in this year in Belgrade against him.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August A quick picks from me for today; Giraldo vs Brands - Giraldo -3.5 games 1.83 at bet365 (4/10) For me Giraldo is better in is ability and consistancy on these clay courts. They are the same age but Giraldo has found it a lot easier to make the step up from challenger successes to the main ATP tour than Brands has.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August A small loss for me after Berankis failed to serve out the first set :\. One early for me and I will see how it goes. (2/10) J.Souza to bt. J.Janowicz @ 1.87 with Pinnacle Souza is the better clay courter for me and I think that he can do the job here. Janowicz is less consistent and that should count here. No way this should be played for higher stakes, but I had him around 1.70, so this looks like value.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Michael Russell did the business last night. Good to see the ladies pulling through for Psycho and quite enjoyed Czech's nice overs call on the Stepanek-Petzschner clash. I'm going to have a very small bet in Kitzbuhel. Might take in something from Washington later. Jerzy Janowicz v Joao Souza - Over 22.5 games @ 2.05 with Pinnacle 2pts This is a very good opportunity for one of these guys to get to R2 of an ATP event. Both men came through the qualifiers and both are in the mid 100s in the rankings. I actually think they are both quite similar players. This match should be all about who serves best because the delivery is the main weapon of both the Pole and the Portuguese. So having that in the mix should help the overs. I'd also add in the importance of the match, in terms of cash and ranking points. I don't see either man giving up quickly, and three sets or two tight ones is a distinct possibility. I would keep the stake small as we're not dealing with world beaters, but this match, for me, has the ingredients for an overs affair. Worth a play at the odds offered.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August One calculated pick from Austria. Filippo Volandri +3.5 vs Marcel Granollers. 1.83 @ Bet365 (3/10) Marcel Granollers won his second career title couple days ago. I'm counting on him not being completely focused on this match. Could be very tough to recover so quickly after such a good week in which he beat guys like Wawrinka, Youzhny and Verdasco. Folandri can have one good match at this level and considering the fact that Granollers will be tired both physically and mentally the Italian should feel good about his chances. I think there's a strong chance that Granollers might not show up for the first set or for the whole match. Taking handicap as a safer option. Volandri beat Granollers in Belgrade this year 2 and 4 having seen that match, Granollers had very little on offer to trouble Pipo. Smaller stakes than I normally go for coz it's yet another bet-at-home organized event which makes me feel cautious and also with Volandri you never know...

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Like Psycho i've been having a think about the Volandri vs Grannolers match ever since Grannolers made his final last week. Having played, won and possibly celebrated a little last Sunday, it will be difficult for him to be focused on this match, and I think Volandri is good enough to take advantage of that. Whether the lack of focus will only be for a couple of games, a set or the whole match who knows but the price offered on Volandri is too tempting for me to ignore. Also Volandri has already beat Grannolers on the clay this year which is another interesting factor. Volandri vs Grannolers - Volandri to win 3.25 at Sporting Bet (2/10) :hope

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Sport Tennis Event Haider Maurer - Veic Selection Haider Maurer -1.5 (Sets HC) (Asian-handicap) Strength 10/10 Date 02/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Betway @ 2.10 Reasoning Haider Maurer: Andreas is home player, favourite of the crowd. Big support form him today. Balls flying really fast in Kitzbuhel - perfect for Andreas huge serve. In last season here made SF. In last week QF in Gstaad. Veic: Veic is challanger level, played Q for main draw - 3 sets against Puc and Laaksonen.. Nothing special, serve is sometimes easy to break. Home player with better serve, in 2. Sport Tennis Event Harrison - Zverev Selection Under 21.5 Strength 10/10 Date 02/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bwin @ 1.85 Reasoning Harrison: Ryan is in big form, played two tournaments on hard courts - Semi Final in Atlanta, Semi Final in Los Angeles, both times losing against Fish, who taking titles. Big support from the crowd in this match for young future of USA tennis. Zverev: Is in very, very bad form. 14 weeks without a single win on ATP level.. In last weekend played on clay court, is without practise on hard courts. I see next terrible performance. Harrison in 2

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August OK, the price finally reached the desired heights, so I am going for Volandri to bt Granollers @3,010 Pinnacle Volandri is 30 yr old veteran, clay specialist, that can always be very dangerous. His serve is not that big, but apart from that his play is rather decent. In Bastad three weeks ago, he forced Robredo to retire when he chased him from one court corner to another. In R2 he lost to Heider-Maurer. The following week he won Orbetello challenger, and last week in Umag he made it to R2, where he lost to the ultimate champion Dolgopolov. Marc Granollers just won his second career title (after three years) in Gstaad and was mightily boosted up in the rankings. Playing the final in Switzerland only two days ago, I really doubt he is going to deliver 100% performance today in Austria. Moreover, Volandri already defeated Marc this year on clay 62 64 in Belgrade. There is also this Granollers' "shoulder injury", due to which he retired in Hamburg two weeks ago (and the next week he won the title, so go figure...). I would not exclude Marc retiring in this match, because he already retired three times this year. All in all, these odds are a must. GL :hope

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Sport Tennis Event Giraldo - Brands Selection Giraldo -1.5(Sets HC) Strength 10/10 Date 02/08/2011 Bookmaker/Price Unibet @ 2.00 Reasoning Giraldo: Santiago is very good clay player. Many good results for this player on this surface. This is the best Colombian player surface. For Brands for example the best surface is grass/hard - in last season Giraldo beat in 2 Brands on hard surface, why not on clay? Brands: Daniel in this moment is not ATP tour level, only challanger. Here play in Q, won three matches, but don't have stron rivals and don't show nothing special. Giraldo is one class above this guy, win in 2

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Jerzy Janowicz and Joao Souza served up a final set breaker, so a good cover for the overs in that one. Not joining in on the Filippo Volandri bandwagon, although I certainly agree with the logic, but will take one bet in Washington tonight. Ryan Harrison v Mischa Zverev - Under 20.5 games @ 1.952 with Pinnacle 5pts I look at this match and see two men going in totally different directions. Harrison is the up-and-coming kid in the States. Probably too early to tell whether he has the mentality to break into the top echelons of the game, but he's certainly got the ability on a quick court. Decent server and good variety off the deck. I think he's in a much better position than Zverev at present. The German has been in woeful form for the best part of year now. All of his limited number of wins have come against weaker players than Harrison. He appears to lack motivation these days, with poor movement and loose shots frequenting his matches with more and more regularity. And furthermore, this is his first match on a hard court for some time, as he's been taking part in the European clay swing. Harrison, by contrast, has got to the last four of his last two tournaments, LA and Atlanta, on a hard court. With that and other factors mentioned taken into consideration, I can see a fairly swift exit for Zverev. The handicap isn't worth it at the price, so I'll play on the unders at significantly higher odds. Ought to be a straightforward win for Harrson.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Ha ha. Volandri so pathetic. 3-1, 40-0 up and then suddenly goes missing and in one moment loses interest in the match. Error after error and lots of bad shot selections. Kind of knew this could happen but still was expecting bigger effort tbh.

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August Souza made it through :D I will have some more today though. I am still thinking about some Washington bets, I will be back later if I decide to go for it. (2/10) E.Vesnina to bt. M.Erakovic @ 2.17 with Pinnacle Vesnina should be the fav here imo. She destroyed Erakovic in Auckland at the beginning of the year and the only reason for Erakovic being the fav here is the win over Azarenka. So what? Cibulkova demolished here in the very next round and that might be more indicative. Would have this at around 1.80 tbh. (2/10) D.Brands (+4) to bt. S.Giraldo @ 1.81 with Pinnacle I am definitely not jumping the Giraldo bandwagon here. His form is not that great and he lost against Haider-Maurer in Gstaad. Another big server here in similar conditions and the higher line certainly interests me.

Ha ha. Volandri so pathetic. 3-1' date=' 40-0 up and then suddenly goes missing and in one moment loses interest in the match. Error after error and lots of bad shot selections. Kind of knew this could happen but still was expecting bigger effort tbh.[/quote'] Could not agree more. Marc was definitely beatable today - 1st serve not working, lot of UE's, but Volandri surely had different plan for tomorrow than to stay in some bloody Kitzbuhel and play tennis, so he folded.:wall

Re: Tennis - 1-7 August

Come on guys' date=' it's Volandri, you knew what you were getting into before the cash was down. Only backable in Italy, otherwise he's a total lottery, for many different reasons.[/quote'] I knew very well but the situation looked good. He should not have thrown away the first set and should have done more in the second as Granollers could not buy the first serve. And it's not true about 'only in Italy'. You can back him in Belgrade as well. :lol

He should have taken down Granollers, totally agree, especially as he's beaten him twice before. And I bet Marcel had a few cervezas on Sunday night with his dinner. Just don't like Volandri away from Italy, he's a nasty piece of work for us tennis punters.
