Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Houston vs Philadelphia Houston won only 9 times in 30 attempts last season, shipping 49 goals along the way. Expansion side Philadelphia won here 3-2 last season, and drew the home encounter 1-1. An improved Philly team are the value with the three quarter ball start. Philadelphia (+0.75) @ 1.82

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Dallas vs San Jose Dallas are a very solid team that dont allow many goals, and will be one of the contenders for the MLS cup this season. San Jose, though a pretty average side, posted the second best away record after L.A last year, and my numbers show them as a good bet with the three quarter ball start.

San Jose (+0.75) @ 2.00

Chivas USA vs Colorado Chivas had a terrible home record last year, winning only 6 of their 15 games, and there’s nothing to suggest that record will get any better this year. Colorado are no powerhouse, despite being reigning MLS champions, but they should be strong enough to get something from this game, and im seeing value with the draw no bet option.

Colorado (0) @ 2.12

New England vs D.C. United An unfancied New England team recorded a deserved draw away at Los Angeles last week, and could have possibly taken all three points from the game. DC United lost 9 of their 15 road games last season, so New England getting such a generous line at home makes this a bet for me. New England (-0.25) @ 1.95

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread anyone see colorado as value tonight 3.80 (Betfair)? Colorado have had a very good start to the season 3-0-0 and Dallas look nowhere near the team they were last year with a 0-1-2 start! I watched Colorados opener against portland and thought they were very good, first half especially. Not too knowledgeable on Dallas though. Any thoughts :welcome

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Toronto - Los Angeles = both teams to score (1.90) bet365 Toronto (East conf) position 4° points 5 Los Angeles (West conf) position 3° points 8 Preview: Toronto: injured: Bouchiba (midfielder 0p/0gol). Los Angeles: Pending: Kirovski (3p/0gol midfielder); question: Donovan (attacker 3p/0gol), Jimenez (0p/0gol midfielder); injured: Berhalter (defender 0p/0gol) Cristman (attacker 0p/0gol). Toronto has a score in the home w1-d1-l0 goals scored 3 goals against 1 while a score out of a Los Angeles house w1-d1 l1 goals scored 3 goals against 5. Meeting with an uncertain outcome. The home team is lower for performance and results. The last match played in 2010 between the two teams finished 0-0. Both teams start in this league have scored more goals then and now I think will be a game full of goals. :hope:hope:hope

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Portland Timbers -1/[email protected] at Ladbrokes 8/10 Last three expansion teams win on their home opener, Seattle Sounders, Philadelphia Union, and this season Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Portland Timbers Fourth match this season for the Timbers in MLS regular season, this will be their stadium opener match and is expected a full-pack JELD-WEN Field. The team have improved as they start with 2 away defeats against Colorado Rapids and Toronto FC, then on the US Open Cup won their first match against Chivas USA 2-0, and then tie with New England Revolution 1-1. Their defense seems to improve as their allowed goals has gone down. Changes on the lineup due to injuries and coach decision seems to have them improve a lot, and they will be glad to show this. Portland Timbers doesn't face a heavy schedule as Chicago Fire does, as they didn't played last weekend, so the team is more rested than Chicago. Timbers 20-year-old rookie GK Glesson has being given the chance due to injury of the other goalkeepers, and in which style he debut made 5 saves in 6 shoots, showing his youth international quality. MF Nagbe (first pick in MLS SuperDraft) debut against New Englad and is expected to contribute in strengthening the midfield which need more control and giving ball to the strikers. Out: GK Adin Brown GK Troy Perkins DF David Horst FW Bright Dike FW Brian Umony MF Peter Lowry Probable: MF Sal Zizzo Chicago Fire On away the team have gone down, from a 1-4 victory against Chivas USA, drawing with Dallas 1-1, and losing to Seattle Sounders 2-1. A heavy week this is being, as they played last weekend against Seattle Sounders on away and lost 2-1, now in midweek encounter Portland Timbers and three days later will take on to Los Angeles Galaxy on home, due to the intensity of the schedule coach De Los Cobos have stated that there is chance to rest some players. In his words "If I feel like I need to give some rest to some players, I will do it. But I still will try to keep the majority of the [first-teamer] playing in the beginning of the season". DF Josip Mikulic will be one of those as he isn't fit despite not being on the injury report, DF Dasan Robinson will take his place as he do against Seattle. FW Diego Chavez and FW Gasto Puerari had been the offensive power of the team scoring 4 goals in 3 matches, they need to continue in that level, but maybe one of them will be rested. Out: DF Steven Kinney MF Mike Banner Match A intense atmosphere at the new field is expected, with a Timbers team that will be on since the kick-off to achieve the victory, don't expect Chicago Fire to laid back, but the recent changes on the lineup could provide misunderstanding. Prediction: The home side had everything to getting a good start, as they seem to be coming into good shape, still Chicago Fire is a side to take care of, and more with FW Diego Chavez on fire (last match scored for the third time in a row), but in the overall picture things seems to be on the local side and should obtain a good result.

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread New York Red [email protected] at Pinnacle 8/10 New York Red Bulls The team is creating the needed scoring chances but the luck hasn't been with them to score them, last match FW Juan Agudelo hit the woodwork twice. As coach Hans Backe put it "One-way traffic, one team on the pitch, (it’s) ridiculous to lose a game like this, This should have been an easy win. …If we had scored the first goal today, which we should have done, then probably we win this game quite easily. ” Ball possession is just a token of this, with 74 percent against Houston and then 65 percent against Philaldephia. This highlights the arrival of MF Dwayne DeRosario from Toronto FC to New York Red Bulls. The New York Red Bulls saw their winless run reach three games, falling 1-0 to Philadelphia Union on Saturday evening at PPL Park. The Red Bulls have 5 points from 4 games, sitting in a four-way tie for third place in the Eastern Conference. Now back in home, where the team haven't lost a match this season, with a victory against Seattle Sounders by 1-0 and a draw 1-1 against Houston Dynamo, the team expects to get a good result here. The team defense, leaded by Rafael Marquez have collect 2 clean-sheets and allowed 1 goal from Dynamo and one from Sounders, solid defending that is. Injured: DF Chris Albright Questionable: GK Greg Sutton FW Thierry Henry San Jose Earthquakes Carries a streak of 3 matches without defeat, with an away victory to Dallas 0-2 and the two draws in how, against Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC. The team is winless in homes despite having played 3 matches there and have won their lone match away. The Quakes have 5 points from 4 games on the season, sitting in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Western Conference. The team seems to be more efficient on the road as their playing scheme with a lone striker on the top is good for counterattacking, but in home with teams that laid back doesn't seem to work. FW Chris Wondolowski should enjoy scoring chances, as the team likes to counterattack, but the ball possession of the Red Bull will make it hard for him to score. The defense welcome back Ike Opara, after recover from a knee injury that took almost 8 months to heal. Injured: MF Andre Luiz Doubtfoul: DF Tim Ward Match New York Red Bull should dominate the ball in this match where the middle field will be the key to obtain something for both teams, expect San Jose Earthquakes to battle for the middle field and try to counterattack. Prediction New York Red Bulls is making the necessary scoring chances, just need the luck to score them, which should appear soon. San Jose will counterattack when allowed, but Red Bulls have a great defense and should prevail.

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Portland Timbers [email protected] en Bet365 8/10 Portland Timbers In their home opener the team showed their strength as they hammer 4-2 Chicago Fire. FW Perlaza finally exploded and scored his first two goals in that thrilling victory. Despite the 2 allowed goals, GK Jake Gleeson was stellar. The team delivered a good image that confirms their improvement, now they have to maintain it, and more due to them being in home. Recently designated player MF Diego Chará should be with the team in a week, a box-to-box midfielder who should impact the team in a positive way. For this match another full pack JELD-WEN Field is expected. Meanwhile FW Kenny Cooper will face his former club in this match and is looking for his second goal, which almost came against Chicago but was rule offside. The team use a wing playing style that will deliver a very intense struggle in the middlefield. Injured: GK Adin Brown FW Bright Dike FW Brian Umony Doubtfoul: MF Peter Lowry DF David Horst GK Troy Perkins FC Dallas In their four match of the season and third match in home the team finally obtain a victory, 3-0 against Colorado Rapids. But before that match had 3 matches without victory, 2 consecutive defeats by 2-0 where the team was unable to score (one of those in away). Remarks it was their first clean sheet of the season. MF David Ferreira scored 2 goals in the last team victory, highlights he has only make 5 shoots. He is leads the league in fouls suffered with 14, which is a resource the teams use to stop him. The team seems to had improve in home with their wing playing, but the team needs to remark this on away, something that doesn't seem easy, against a team has showed solid on home. Injured: DF Kyle Davies DF Edson Edward Probable: MF Marvin Chavez Match both teams uses a wing playing middle-field equals and there will be the struggle of the match. Prediction Timbers have the edge as their improvement seems to be more solid than that of FC Dallas, but it will not be an easy match as the middle-field of both teams posses a lot of quality.

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Houston - New England Pick: Draw Odds: 3.81 Pinnacle I don't see a clear favorite here and that is why I will try with draw. Houston have the home advantage and it is important. They will try to win, no doubt about that. But Houston is handicapped as striker Brian Ching will miss his second game due to injury. The team is boosted with two new players, forward Sergio Koke and midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson. Both have signed on Friday, but it is too early for them. On other hand New England will be without two suspended players. The best scorer Shalrie Joseph and midfielder Pat Phelan were both sent off against Salt Lake. One new player, Rajko Lekic signed for Houston, but it is a question if his documents will be received on time. The tradition is on New England side. They have won three of the last four mutual games. Here are the results: 11.10.2010. Houston - New England 1:2 15.08.2010. New England - Houston 1:0 26.07.2009. Houston - New England 0:1 03.05.2009. New England - Houston 0:2 Since Houston is in good form (unbeaten in the last three games), I think this match will end with draw.

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread Houston - Colorado = 1 (2.10) bet365 Houston (East) position 3° points 12 Colorado (West) position 4° points 10 Preview: Houston: Doubtful: Taylor (defender 1 / 0), Ching (striker 3 / 0); injured: Carr (attacker 0 / 0), Cruz (6 midfielder / 0). Colorado: Pending: Mullan (midfielder 6 / 0); in doubt: Amarikwa (striker 5 / 1), Casey (striker 3 / 0), Ababa (defender), Pickens (doors 7 / 0), Wynne (defender 6 / 0), Folan (striker 5 / 2); injured: Kandji (attacker 0 / 0). Houston has a score in the home of w3-d0-l1 goals scored 8 goals against 3 for Colorado while a score out of the house w1-d0-l2 goals scored 1 goals against 4. Houston are playing well getting convincing victories. Houston won its third straight game in improving their home unbeaten streak to six games. While the visiting team has some issues outside the home. Consistent performance from the visiting team than the home team that is better organized and more determined. Prediction 1. Declining share in many books. :hope:hope:hope

Re: USA - MLS 2011 Thread

Real Salt Lake vs Houston Dynamo TEAM NEWS RSL extended their record home unbeaten streak to 28 with a 1-0 win over US Chivas. Real Salt Lake will be without Javier Morales while Paulo Junior could return. Houston’s Koke made his first start for his new club in the 2-1 loss at Toronto FC. Houston will be without Calen Carr, Danny Cruz and Brian Ching due to injury. Real Salt Lake Suspended: None Doubtful: None Injured/unavailable: Morales (ankle) Houston Dynamo Suspended: None Doubtful: None Injured/unavailable: Carr (concussion), Cruz (knee), Ching (foot) MATCH PREVIEW The scene that had played out recently in two MLS games unfortunately repeated itself at Rio Tinto Stadium. Much like Steve Zakuani of Seattle and David Ferreira of FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake star Javier Morales was victim of a tackle and saw a bone broken on his body. US Chivas’ Marcos Mondaini tackled Morales from behind, breaking his ankle in such a manner that the doctor who would later operate on it called it “gruesome.” Without Morales, Andy Williams should get more playing time. Williams is a fine distributor of the ball and has a good shot but is not the dynamic player as Morales, nor does he quite have the stamina of Morales. Real Salt Lake, though, have been praised for their depth and if any club in MLS can absorb the loss of a player like Morales, it is Real Salt Lake. Houston Dynamo meanwhile enter the match on a sudden and unexpected downturn. Houston had lost their first match of the season but were unbeaten in the following six matches. A 4-1 win over DC United had the club feeling good and it certainly appeared as if Houston were on the rise. But suddenly the club forgot how to play effective football and lost games to Colorado and Toronto FC, each by a 2-1 score. Houston now must try and win at Rio Tinto Stadium, something that has not been done in last three regular seasons. RSL will likely come out inspired as they will try and show that Morales’ loss won’t affect them too much. Look for RSL to take all three points in a victory. HEAD TO HEAD Houston have just one victory in last 5 meetings at Real Salt Lake.
