Goldikova
Re: Anything goes thread I've reached a point where i will just be glad when this festival is over and done with. All this obsessive behaviour with looking for new posts and checking odds. All this trying to be calm. The worse is, my ante post prices will not mean a single jot when i get zero winners. Ante post gambling is pretty damn addictive. You can spend time and money on ante posts, but come nearer Cheltenham you will see a whole other bunch of bets you wished you had. You will wish you had access to more money once you hear all these comments floating about from trainers and jockeys at preview nights. And that's without taking in to account the horses that won't run, and the horses that could still potentially miss out. Hurry up and start, and hurry up and finish ! A poor run of form means that i have eaten into the money but have enough to do what i need to do. i love the whole build up to the meeting, i love the thought of having a few 50/1 bets and seeing them having a go. I struggle to fit everything in but off for the week and intend to relax with a game of golf on the Monday followed by 4 days of watching the festival on TV - all 26 odd races. Ahhhhh that puts a different twist on things. You see, i've been replacing regular everyday/weekend bets with ante posts because i've not been enjoying the jumps that much, and have never felt like there's been any winners in me. Well that and the fact i don't have a big bank. In terms of singles i haven't went over board, but a NR has cost me a good few quid it has to be said. I've cut down from last year with regards to ante posts. Therefore next year i suspect i will cut back further. Sticking to two horses as you have done is probably the best way forward if they are NRNB.

bowles10
Re: Anything goes thread anyone going to back Powerstation this year record reads 2-2-3-3 at the festival, 11yo now plenty of fans, 66/1 this year in the World Hurdle, surely too much to ask but i bet a lot will be on it remember Mr mCgoldrick winning here at 12yo a couple of years back @ 66/1, it can happen but not in the World Hurdle :D
Charlie Wong
Re: Anything goes thread Like the last 5 years, going on thr tuesday, mainly because the champion hurdle has always been my favourite race at thr festival, this years looks an exceptional renewal as the betting suggests. I had over 70 bets at last years festival and have had 2 so far, so 68 odd more to do !! Roll on next tuesday

billvernon
Re: BKI's Cheltenham Bets Its getting nearer to the off at Cheltenham and excited is not the word on how I feel regarding the Festival. Looking at some of the races I feel this maybe a year where it could turn out to be the obvious horses Binocular 3/1 F Medermit 11/4 F Imperial Commander 10/3 F Garde Champetre 5/1 JF Quevega 11/10 F Big Bucks 11/8 F ( what a price !! ) I keep looking at each of the respective races and i cannot steer away from these horses. Binocular Top Speed TS Top RPR Top OR - 1st - LTO and this side of Chistmas. Medermit French horse 1st Lto this side of Christmas Fast and Jumps efficiently.Runing optimal trip. Imperial Commander Course specialist goes well fresh lightly raced only 12 Chase runs -- last race ran at a good pace. Garde Champetre - won the trial -- as usual top weight but handicapper states he has given him a chance this year he has beaten rest of the horses with x county form . Quevega - W Mullins has said nothing negative about her and she won last year by loads and runs well fresh. Big Bucks - looking at his form he has done nothing to diminish his ability this year. As to the rest of the races I think the majority of the favorites will be beat. And all highly fancied ones Cue Card last run - Dec 11th Time For Rupert last run - Dec 11th Poquelin last run - Dec 11th will be beaten :( This is just wild Conjecture mind but still a nice little heinz bet for a bit of fun ;)
Bathtime For Rupert
Re: BKI's Cheltenham Bets I would agree but for the fact I think Cue Card's and Time For Rupert's form is far superior to their respective rivals. If there wasn't as much in it, as I believe there is, I'd be inclined to look elsewhere.
billvernon
Re: Anything goes thread The only thing that urks me and makes me not very confident is the results from last year it was a good year for the Bookies and Favourites did not do brilliantly. There has been some years where everything goes ok and a lot of these horses come in but not as many as I would like. Time for Rupert & Cue Card do seem to be the standout class horses in the races they both run in. Lots of people (respected) on this site have come up with logical reasons for these 2 horses to do well this year. They do both run well fresh (first time out) and have Cheltenham form. Maybe a fun crazy Favourites Goliath bet is called for :D Cue Card - Supreme - 2/1 Time For Rupert - RSA - 9/4 Binocular - Champion Hurdle - 3/1 Quevega - Mares Race - 1/1 Garde Champetre - Cross Country - 5/1 Medermit - Arkle - 11/4 Big Bucks - World Hurdle - 11/8 Imperial Commander - Gold Cup - 10/3 10p Goliath @ £24.70 win = £ 15,234.08 not to bad if by a miracle it came up ;):hope I think this wouldf be my reaction :loon:clap:cheers:drums:beer

bowles10
Re: Anything goes thread so how many winners are you targeting this year? 27 races, would be hard to get 7 or 8 i think in such a competitive week. i may have about 15 singles per day, i just need a decent priced horse to make a profit at level stakes, anything 16/1 or over and its profit for the day! Only done day 1 so far, 1st 4 races, got possibly 3 in the 1st, 2 in the second, 3 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th so far. The 5th race is the cross country so may avoid that, so 10 bets so far on day 1 with last race to do.
Bathtime For Rupert
Re: Anything goes thread Loads of races look best to leave alone to me. I probably have only worked out my singles for the Arkle and the Ryanair. Got favourites in multiples in Supreme Novice, Mares race, Queen Mother, RSA. Some just look very difficult such as the Champion Hurdle which just looks like a race to watch for me. Then I wouldn't want to back the shorties in the above races in singles, but at the same time would struggle to oppose them. Not bothered looking at the handicaps really yet, though. mowgli77
Re: Anything goes thread Focusing on the main races, leaving the bumpers, hunters chases etc but will be trying to get involved in the handicaps this season, focusing on improvers rather than those sliding down the handicap. Setting yourself up to fail if you bet in every race in my opinion. It's hard enough finding one or two winners never mind 6 or 7. If I don't have a strong opinion on a race I'll leave it as a watch only. I haven't got Racing UK and don't see the point of ordering it for 1 month so will have to watch the last few races in the bookies or via bet365 and put minimal bet on for live coverage.
