Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. No selections for today - although Man City v West Ham could possibly be BG & MW go for it but TP isn't showing any figures for the match :wall

Re: Football: Fleet's Trebles Hi FF, Nicely done again - do you have any figure for the Southampton v Watford match tonight ? :ok
-
Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. If there is any consolation from the defeats this weekend they were all scuppered by just 1 goal - a 1-2 on friday and three 0-1's as above. We are into unknown territory with the end of season struggles, hopefully we will pull through though. I found out after that Man City were fielding a "protective" side in preperation for their Monday FA Cup Match as were West Ham - maybe worth doing a little homework after the selections have been picked :ok

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. Funnily enough I looked into whether this system would make a profit by just backing the draws and believe it or not it would - but you would have gone bankrupt twice in the process. I believe it boils down to how you view risk and whether you want to get all the profit you can out of the system - in the end laying is more efficient but the ride is bumpier. DP's excellent hot favorites thread is a good example - because he deals in very short odds the loss is large when he hits one but he always comes out ahead. Whatever method you choose I recommend that the draw is covered somehow :ok
-
Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. Well you made me have to do it didn't you :loon I've just rewritten my excel spreadsheet to "cover the draw" to see if that was any better - this basically does what it says on the tin - places just enough on the draw to return the stake and let the wins give the profit. The results are impressive but as I keep saying :spank the lay method is more efiicient.

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. TF - Thanks mate, but you have to do what is comfortable to you. I'll have to check on the win only strike rate for selection under 1.4 But to me laying is the most profitable way - remember it also covers the draw so the odds are lower than win only but the strike rate is greater. The best double chance odds on 1x on last nights match was 1.04 but laying at 12.0 = 1.09 thats a big difference over the course of a season. No selections for tonight :ok

Re: Under 2.5 goals system Hi SBI - I've just trawled through a lengthy calculation to see if backing the 6 winning scores would prove better value :- 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, 2-0, 0-2 and it doesnt :loon the odds work out to be 1.75 to your 1.798 No idea why that should be but does is in tonights match ?

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. TF - Laying at 12.0 is equal to 1/11 = 1.09 for covering home & draw. Betfair have it as down 1.04 for the double chance 1x and they are the best odds on offer :eek You can always lay the draw at lower odds - it's in play so you can always cover yourself ;)

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. Hi Dac, :rollin It's nowhere near as bad as it sounds :rollin If you've got a few minutes read through the thread from the start as the system has morphed into the current table selection method. the TP column must read >= 48 the BG column must read >= 48 the MW column must be a home win scoreline. when all 3 align it's a selection the odds are just there for interest. TF - it will be there under systems & strategies but a little way back now I would imagine.

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. Hi Sbi, Welcome to the thread and thanks for the kind words - I know from reading your own threads that you're a professional punter so it's a big compliment to have you give the thumbs up. I've tried to level the playing field in comparing the staking plans - the win only and cover the draw are 1 point stakes and the lay the away is to a fixed 1 point liability - I thought this was the fairest way to compare all 3 of the methods. Total selections so far have been 97 - the box refered to above shows the results after 96 selections - strike rate is 91%. Just finalising the table for this weekend - back later :ok
