    Man City v Arsenal
Arsenal, in recent seasons (2016-2019) have just been atrocious against the top league teams. In 18 away games against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United and Tottenham they have won 0 out of 18 games. They have lost 14 times and drawn just 4, for 4 points out of a possible 72! So the question is really ...Can this new look Arsenal get anything at Man City?
Man City and Liverpool look slightly vulnerable. City just look a little jaded, and Pep will not solve the problems by splurging on defensive players like a kid in a sweet store. Something in the system they are playing is not working.  Arsenal have a fairly good shot here against a miss-firing City side and at odds of 9.5 I think the away win and over 2.5 goals is a good bet.

    Everton v Liverpool----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everton are off to a fantastic start to the season. The squad looks good, moral and desire are high, but Liverpool are looming on the horizon.

The strange thing is that Everton have done OK in this fixture, but the results look really strange. In 6 games, there have been four 0-0 results, and five draws. All of these 6 games have finished under 2.5 goals. Is the trend set to continue?

My feeling is that a nil-nil is not on the table here. Everton, with confidence, will feel they have a legitimate shot at the win. Liverpool need a bounce back win, but without really pressing the ball, they could be vulnerable. Everton have played out of the back well, and could keep the 100% record going.

The early part of the season is a dangerous one for betting. You simply don't know enough about teams, new players and how they will gel. My philosophy is to bet smaller and take higher bet odds. Everton to keep it going here!

    HOME WIN & OVER 2.5 goals : Odds 5

    Newcastle v  Man United--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could this be Solksjaer's last game in charge of Man United? The club is in crises. Defensively they look very weak, and the character of most of the squad is in question.

Pogba talks a reasonable game, but he never brings it. If his dream is to play for Real Madrid, hopefully United can make it a reality. When last did Pogba have a really good game, that he influenced, set up goals and carried United to a win? The reality is that he is not capable of doing this ... week in week out he is consistently average! Solksjaer needs to grow a pair and bench Pogba, and get van der Beek in the side.

The defense is an absolute chaotic mess. Lindelof looks out of his league, Maguire struggling with the pressure, Bailly also not looking the part. Shaw simply does not understand, or has not been shown how to defend properly. Interesting to see if Telles starts immediately

Newcastle must be licking their chops, at the possiblity of taking this weak Man U team to pieces. Crystal Palace showed them how to do it by playing a deep lying defense, and Tottenham just ran rings around a suspect back line.  Callum Wilson could have a field day here, running these (lazy) defenders ragged.

    HOME WIN & OVER 2.5 goals : Odds 7

    Villa v Liverpool
After watching Liverpool run rings around Arsenal (while in 3rd gear), it takes a brave man to go against them. There are simply no real weaknesses in this squad/side. Defense looks solid, forwards are great, wing backs do their job. Liverpool are just so far ahead of the rest in their transition game. Defense flows into attack so smoothly, and visa-versa. It is a well drilled side, with solid structures and patterns of play. This makes it so much easier for new players coming into the team.
Unfortunately for Villa, I cannot see them living with this Liverpool UBER machine. Klopp has added brilliantly to an already strong unit, and I expect the Liverpool machine to roll on here. Mane, Salah and Firmino just look so deadly upfront. Unstoppable !

This is just a free shot for Villa, and I think they could get thumped. But it is not serious for them. They need to beat the WBA's, Fulham's and Crystal Palace's of this world.

    Prediction : Away Win & over 2.5 : Odds 1.8

    Man United v Tottenham
Man United continue to struggle in the transfer market ... or do they? Perhaps the intent is really not to buy too many new players. Rather just go through the motions of attempting signings, knowing that they will fail. They can then shake their heads and say we tried (very hard).

The over concentration on Sancho is a joke. He is not the answer to their problems. The gaping 3 lane freeway through the heart of their defense is. Do they need a new left back? Seriously, they already have 2 of them!

United look flat, tired and jaded. In my opinion the manager looks tactically weak, and he really does not have a great squad to work with. The fact that these players are so inconsistent under Solksjaer should be alarming. How can you be so up and down?

You could bet your house that Mourinho really wants to win this game. Being sacked at Man United will still sting and hurt. The ego is bruised and he wants revenge! He may say otherwise but this is a priority game for him.
Was impressed with Dalot at right back in the Carabou cup. Bailly also stepped up nicely. This lets United play a back 3 or back 4, and wan-Bissaka could easily play as a center half. For me a back 3 is really the way to go, as it lets United pack the midfield with a decent varied talent mixture. How much is playing Luke Shaw (in a 4) really adding to United? He seems to lack confidence going forward, and get caught out of position at the back!
Neither team really convinces me at the moment and I don't like betting these games. Just way to unpredictable.
If Spurs are more clinical in front of goal, they could win this going away. First goal is critical here, as both sides are not great game-chasers.

    Prediction : Away Win & over 2.5 : Odds 6 for a small bet.

    Wolves v Fulham
I'm not crazy about Wolves at the moment. They are very inconsistent, and may just be in for a long old battle this season. They are selling players, and not really replacing them. The good news for them is that they play a side who already look out of their league.

The Fulham defense makes Man United's back two look like a wall. Their big problem is that the defend badly and  are battling for goals as well.

Wolves to win here, but thinking about it, the over 2.5 goals is a tough one. Can Fulham score? Probably not
Can Wolves score 3 hmmm ... kind of dicey.

Prediction : Wolves Home Win & over 2.5 : Odds 2.63, again for a small bet.

Probably United's best center back pairing was Vidic and Ferdinand.  Neither was an absolute giant, yet they were pretty damn good. Probably Bailly will play instead of Lindelof, and he could do a similar job to Bissaka. Height is not a show stopper. Blind is on 5F 10 and he did pretty well.
I'm a United fan, and I think they won't get 3 points against Brighton. Brighton were excellent against Arsenal. Played really good football, and gave a soft first goal away after dominating. Then they equalized and went immediately behind to an absolute thunderbolt, that misses 9 times in 10. So they were unlucky. Against Newcastle they were very good.
I expect another bumpy outing from United, but maybe Bailly and Maguire click!
I'll just watch this one from behind the couch !

    Maybe slightly unrelated but was writing this page anyway so I thought I would post it here;
    2020/2021 EPL Predictions
    Top 2

Let’s run through the teams in the English premier league in 2020. For me the same top 2 as last year. Both Man City and Liverpool are light years ahead of the chasing pack. Liverpool have already bought well and have strengthened nicely. Will they be better this year? I think Liverpool will develop a maturity. You simply cannot play every game at helter skelter pace. You need to pick your teams well to deal with the opponent. I think Liverpool will do this well this season. Man City will be the closest chaser. They have a solid squad, but Pep may just wear these guys out. He is intense, and possibly the focus is on CL glory. Defensive weakness still exists.

    Positions 3rd – 8th

Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Man United, Leicester and Tottenham in the mix here but in which order? Chelsea definitely seem to have the best squad out of this group, but they are missing a van Djik type defender that will take them up to the next level. I see them improving one position up to 3rd. If they would buy Koulibaly, they could challenge the top 2. Beyond me why United don't bid for him.

Man United for me are going to be poor. Are they going to get better than 66 points this season? Maybe up to 70 or so at best, but they have not really moved forward from last season. Solksjaer gone sometime in January when they are miles off the pace (again), and having another slump.

I do like Arsenal, and think they will make a huge improvement. They had two big problems. One was getting results against the top teams and the other was away form. At home they have been really good, especially against the lower half teams. I think they will improve the away record massively, and will finish 4th,  with between 68 and 74 points.

Everton, Man United and Spurs will be fighting for the 5th position, and I feel that United could even be as low as 7th (if no transfers come in). They just look so poor, and I think another huge slump may be coming sooner than later. Tottenham, under Mourinho, could surprise, but it could also go pear shaped quickly.
Everton under Ancelotti look good. He is an excellent manager. Playing with confidence, and nice patterns of play. The team looks really confident ... Calvert-Lewin to get close to 20 goals this season.  James Rodriguez looks ridiculously fit, and I'm pretty sure Ancellotti will get the best out of Moise Kean. Also good to see a fully recovered Andre Gomes back after a terrible injury. The good times for the other half of Merseyside are here !
    (3/4/5)        Chelsea | Arsenal | Everton
    (6/7/8)        Man United | Spurs | Leicester

    Positions 9th – 13th

Wolves, Leeds United, Brighton, Sheffield United, Newcastle United. Not sure why Wolves are selling players, but it will not help them. Leeds and Brighton look good. They are playing with some style, and will score goals and entertain. Brighton may just chop Man United this weekend. Leeds may run out of legs towards the end of the season but they will be safe. Newcastle will continue to improve, and will finish higher than last season (13th). Callum Wilson an excellent signing. Always liked him, has such a good attitude, and always puts in a full shift!

    Positions 14-17

Burnley, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Southampton. Burnley will be comfortable in the end. They are always a difficult style/opponent and will find their way. Palace have already surprised me, but I don’t think they will find soft opponents like Man United every week. If Zaha goes they will be in a relegation battle ☹️

    Positions 18-20

Fulham, West Brom, West Ham. I have not really seen any teams as bad as West Brom and Fulham, and my expectation is that both these teams will be relegated. West Ham got a little lucky last season, but not sure they can dodge relegation this time around. It will be close for them. They have a brutal run of fixtures to start, and could have less that 5 points after 7 or 8 games.

    First manager fired ?

For me the two candidates are David Moyes and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. West Ham (no points after 2 games), have Wolves(H), Leicester(A), Spurs(A), Man City(H), Liverpool(A). Perhaps something against Wolves but the rest will be tough. Could have 3 or fewer points after 7 games, and already feel adrift.

Solksjaer is also staring down the barrel. United have Brighton(A), Tottenham(H), Newcastle(A), Chelsea(H), Arsenal(H), Everton(A). So 3 top 6 teams at home and 3 tricky away fixtures against decent opponents. Add to this that Crystal Palace gave the league a blueprint on how to beat United. Are Maguire and Lindelof really going to handle the pace of Aubameyang?   I see trouble ahead, in a blowout season. Hopefully they will move for a rejuvenated Potch and Edwin van der Saar as director of football, when the time comes.

    Wolves v Man CIty
I'm really not sure what to make of this fixture. Aguero injured, and a stale/flat Man City team away to a bogey team? How hard is Pep pushing these guys and are they up for the challenge? Do the demands of a very intense, focused coach eventually exhaust the batteries?
Man City lost 4 of their last 7 away game last season, but maybe they were just demotivated. I would not be betting the away win here, just too many unanswered questions. SO possibly the Home double chance (2.7), or home win draw no bet (5.5), or the home win(7).  But then Wolves have sold Jota to Liverpool, and that will hurt them.
I think at the beginning of the season when less is know, a smaller bet for big odds is a good option.
    HOME WIN at 7.

I agree with your comments, but I think United will be a little bit better this season in a few key areas.
    1) de Gea let in so many soft goals last season it was crazy. He will up his game or be warming the bench. In last years meeting the Palace winner bounced off him and into the goal (van Aanholdt). He is a great keeper, now he must front up and play like one.
    2) The United defense will improve. Not but a huge amount, but enough to drop the BTTS numbers down from 14 in 2018, to 11 in 2019 to around 7 this season. For me those BTTS odds should be around 2.4, so the bookies are a little stingy there.

To me Fulham showed intent going forward, or trying to against Arsenal. They just lack so much quality that those intentions just showed badly. I don't think they will sit in and defend, as they are just not good enough to do it.

Watched most of the first weekends games and Fulham definitely stood out as being poor.
Arsenal are not a great away team, but it was a stroll in the park for them. Fulham barely created a chance. They look out of their league at the moment.

Leeds were very good against Liverpool, and slightly unlucky. They ran out of steam towards the end of the game.
They should have way too much for a limited Fulham side. I would expect goals in this game, as Leeds look very open at the back, but show some style and skill going forward. It won't be dull!

This is just such a banana skin for United. Palace play a weird style of flooding the defensive zone, and making it difficult for the opposition to create quality chances. They have weapons and can hurt teams on the break, or from a set-piece. It is the exact recipe that Man United struggle with. United would need an early goal to open the game up, but Palace know this, so will play a tight first half. I would expect Man U to be better at home this season, but the defense has not been strengthened.
Is Lindelof a huge improvement over Chris Smalling? I think not. My feeling is that Smalling is a better partner for Maguire. Not his fault that he played in a lot of average to poor Man United teams. Which de Gea shows up? The superstar, or the one who let's goals in off his hands? My feeling is that Fernandez will be shut down quicker this season. Last season he was an unknown quantity ... this season opponents won't let him play with such freedom.
The home win at odds of 1.33 is a joke. Untouchable.
The over 2.5 goals looks a long shot as I think there won't be more than 1 first half goal scored.
For me a 0-1 or 1-0 2-0 scoreline looks very likely.
The under 2.5 goals at odds of 2.2  looks decent bet here.

    Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
The third game in the Premier League fixture list this weekend is between Manchester United and Crystal Palace with a 5:30pm BST kick-off scheduled for Saturday evening at Old Trafford. It's a first game of the season for the home side who come up against a visiting team that started their league campaign with a surprise victory last weekend. Who will take the spoils here?
Manchester United ended last season on the high of qualifying for the Champions League. Some optimistic Red Devils fans were even spouting that they felt they should be considered as potential title challengers this season. Personally, I think that's taking things a little far. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept his transfer activity to a minimum this summer with Alexis Sanchez making his loan move to Inter Milan permanent and the arrival of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek being the only signing. The team is on a run of 14 league games undefeated and have lost just 1 of their last 17 league games at home but can they continue that form into this new season?
Crystal Palace were touted by many to be one of the sides that could struggle this season. The Eagles have managed to keep hold of Wilfried Zaha so far but his departure almost feels inevitable. The arrivals of Eberechi Eze, Michy Batshuayi, and Nathan Ferguson have been well-received. That feelgood factor continued after the narrow 1-0 win over Southampton last weekend. However, a small dampener on that result was inflicted by the loss to Championship side Bournemouth on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the EFL Cup 2nd Round.
This is the ideal sort of game for Manchester United to kick off their new season. It's a game they should really win against a team that could be in a false sense of confidence after an opening weekend win over a poor opposition. Crystal Palace still didn't show me anything overly surprising last week. I think Southampton were just worse. Even then Palace had Vicente Guaita to thank. Both teams have scored in 3 of the previous 5 meetings between these two sides and both teams have also scored in every one of United's last three home league games. I wouldn't be shocked to see both teams score here but I have to back a home win.

I looked at that Spurs v Everton game again, and Spurs were a little unlucky in the 1st half. They had 3 really good chances, 2 saved and 1 blown by Son not rolling the ball onto a Free Kane. But when they went behind, they showed no ability to break down a team that was sitting in, defending well and playing decently. For me one guy who has to improve for Everton is Richarlison. They are setting him up and he is missing chance after chance. I was very impressed with James ... the guy looks really motivated and very fit. No fat on him at all..

    Fulham v Arsenal
I just don't like Arsenal as an away team. They fail to deliver all the time. In the last 3 seasons in away games against relegation candidates, they have won just 5 times in 15 games. Last season they failed to win 4 times (Villa 1-0, Bournemouth 1-1, Norwich 2-2, Watford 1-1). They managed a come from behind win over West Ham.
In away league games against the top 5 teams (Chelsea, Liverpool, Man CIty, Man United, Tottenham, Leicester) they are pathetic, winning 2 games out of 34 over the last 8 seasons. For me you just cannot be firing money at this bet at odds of 1.59. I would be taking Fulham double chance here at odds around 2.5
    Crystal Palace v Southampton
My feeling is that Palace will be in trouble this season. They were just awful at the end of last season, and it is not so easy to switch it back on, and start winning. I think they could be relegated, and will be in big early trouble. Unlike Arsenal, SOuthampton have been great against relegation candidates. Last season they had away wins againts Villa 1-3, Bournemouth 0-2, Norwich 0-3, Watford 1-3, and lost 3-1 to West Ham. I think they have beaten Palace 3 times in 4 seasons away. So for me the away win looks solid, and the Away win and over 2.,5 goals is a possibility at odds of 4.
    Liverpool v Leeds
I think Liverpool win here against a spiritedLeeds side, but I do see Leeds scoring. I feel a 3-1 or 4-1 scoreline on the cards. The Liverpool Home WIn and Over 2.5 goals at odds of 1.8 looks solid.
    Tottenham v Everton
My feeling is that Tottenham are going backwards. I don't think Mourinho was a good fit for them, and the first part of the gamble (getting CL football) has already failed. I think this season could be a train smash. In 4 of the last 6 seasons they have only won 12 or fewer home games. A Championship winning team, or a CL qualifier probably needs at least 14 home wins. I think Harry Kane becomes more an more isolated as Spurs play a style that absolutely does not suite him. Spurs really struggle against those top 1/2 teams at home, winning just 6 times in 18 games (last 2 seasons).

Can Mourinho get the best out of this squad? I don't think so. You can only go so far by stopping your opponent from playing ... eventually you have to play some football yourself ! Everton is a potential banana skin for Spurs here, and I would be going away double chance.

Wow, Fulham just useless. Hard to see another PL team that is worse than them.

    Hey,
I used to be playing 7 days a week, and started years ago on PokerStars, Paradise Poker, Ultimate Bet, Full tilt, Piggs Peak etc. My feeling is that online is dangerous. It is very easy to cheat, and say what they like, the various sites are clueless on how to stop it. Two things I would say. If you play a game like PLO, then you better have the right mindset for it. Big swings, and very volatile. You go from HIGH to LOW all day, and it's a game where you are going to get run over often. For me not worth playing online because you can get sandwiched between a low double suited wheel and a high double par hand easily (you get too much multi player action).
If I was playing online, I would want to play the same few guys HEADS-UP on a regular basis (and holdem). If I know I am a better player, making better reads, better folds, with better pre-flop discipline, I don't want others getting in the way. I don't mind losing to someone 2 times in every 10 meetings because in the long run I'm crushing it. And when you lose, don't steal their thunder or deny them the enjoyment of winning .... this way it's just a loan ... the cash comes back home.
Also, there is no collusion heads-up !
For me nothing worse than losing a huge hand to the table donkey in a live game, and then watching him donk your cash off to everyone else except you ! You sit there smiling through the aggravation, playing a game at a snails pace, seething inside, while this clown spews chips.   Heads up reduces this scenario to zero.

I just do not rate Arsenal, especially away from home. I have a feeling they may have a massive letdown after the Man City game. That semi was their season, and they might be totally flat here. I have a weird feeling that Villa pull a surprise here, and win against the odds. They simply cannot fold up and go meekly. A little bit of fight and desperation may be what they need.

Going for the big odds, small stakes with a Villa win and over 2.5 goals  (Odds of 5.5)

    Man United v West Ham
I think that Solskjaer will go back to the formation and team that has been doing so well recently. A front 3 of Martial, Rashford and Greenwood looks brilliant. The pace of these guys is unreal, and Greenwood is a gem. Let them play in front of Fernandes and Pogba with Matic or McTominay holding. Looks pretty damn good. Williams or Shaw makes no difference to me,  Wan Bissaka is really solid ...
So can Lindelof and Maguire keep a clean sheet ?
I don't think so and that scares me away from the HT/FT Man United home win bet. This bet has slightly better odds than the home win & over 2.5 goals bet, but I think the home win and over 2.5 goals is a better bet. If Man United get an early goals (say before the water break), they could romp here.
Over 2.5 goals and home win.

    Liverpool v Chelsea
What a difficult game to call. Liverpool going through the motions of winding the season up. Chelsea coming off a huge win against Man United. Then add a weird strange atmosphere, for what should be a pulsating games (in front of a crowd), and it could all be dull affair.
On the road, Chelsea give up goals, and since the restart have given up 9 goals in 4 games. They cannot keep a clean sheet, and my feeling is that Liverpool could shred them here. An early home goal and Chelsea could fall apart, considering how bad they are at chasing a game.
I think there are goals aplenty here, considering the effort Chelsea put in, pressing Man United a few days ago.
The Liverpool win and over 2.5 goals looks nice at a solid price of 2.8
