    12.45 Ripon - 1pt e/w Hungry For Fashion @ 8/1 Bet365
The favourite is the one to beat under a penalty but Ripon is quite a different challenge to Kempton and will go for some each-way value instead. Karl Burke has two in the race but I quite like the bigger priced Hungry For Fashion who shaped okay over c&d on debut. Burke's horses typically improve for their first outing and there were some decent types in that field that day - was a bit green through the race and drifted out into the centre of the track but looked like getting involved at the 2f pole before backing out of it under a hands ride. Should know more now, has speed, should come on fitness wise too and has experienced the undulations of this track before so I can see a big step forward this afternoon.
    1.15 Ripon - 2pts win Gunmetal @ 5/1 Bet365
Has been disappointing the last twice but has come down the weights quite a bit to leave him well handicapped and has run very well on two starts at Ripon (easy win off a higher mark and a good 2nd). This is an easier race than he's been competing in and although not getting involved at the business end, has curiously been ridden a lot more conservatively the last few runs. His best form has come from the front, or close to, and I'm hoping that he can be given a more positive ride this afternoon down in grade and make light work of his lowly handicap mark.
    1.45 Ripon - 2pts win Henley @ 4/1 Bet365
Tracy Waggott's runner was racing in handicaps off marks in the 80s just last summer but suddenly finds himself off 60 in a selling handicap and I think he can take advantage today. Shaped okay the last twice at Thirsk (first run after a long break, faded late on) and Pontefract (keen hold, stiff track, faded up the straight) both over 6f. Neither of those races would suit him for the reasons given - he's been 1st or 2nd in 14 races in his career to date and every single one of those runs have come over the bare 5f. Dropped in class, the weights and trip today I think he'll take a lot of beating.
    2.20 Ripon - 2pts win Innse Gall @ 3/1 Bet365
Sadly not the price I thought he might be but backed him last time when shaping really well under a fairly gentle ride over 7f behind a couple of nice types. Small field and that trip wouldn't play to his strengths as he's got plenty of stamina in the pedigree so the extra furlong today on handicap debut will really suit. Think he's been in a couple of useful races so far - the horse who beat him narrowly for 3rd on debut has gone on to be rated 87 so I think he's got every chance off 67 now getting better conditions.
    3.10 Bath - 1pt e/w Waseem Faris @ 12/1 Bet365
Is an 11 year old now but that's reflected in his mark and this looks a realistic target for him. Shaped well two starts back here in a class 4 when not having a clear run but couldn't back that up last time when beaten 5 lengths. That said, it paid to be handy that day and he has plenty of form around here under similar conditions to this afternoon. Clearly not in awful heart and not only has he been dropped 4lbs in the handicap for that last effort, he now has George Rooke taking off a further 5lbs which should bolster his chances today. Think he rates a bigger threat than a 12/1 price so will chance him today.
    3.40 Bath - 0.5pts e/w Bequest @ 20/1 PP
Probably going to need the run but at 20/1 is worth chancing on the off chance it's capable of putting up a good show when fresh. If so, wouldn't be as big a price as was largely consistent last year, running numerous good races under similar conditions and looks fairly handicapped on that. Clearly amiss when last seen (never travelled) and has changed yards but if returning to anything like the form of last season would go well here, so will chance given the odds.

Very frustrating afternoon - Noble Behest 2nd having touched 4/6 in the run, Talking About You 3rd but there was a non-runner taking it down to 2 places, Mrs Muggins falling when holding every chance and Percy Street 2nd having touched 2/5 in the run.
    5.35 Lingfield - 1pt e/w Disarming @ 16/1 Bet365
I don't like a lot of these at the head of the market so taking a chance with Disarming who whilst in and out has shown good form under similar conditions at Kempton when narrowly denied twice in handicaps and although less good last time out, wasn't disgraced and it paid to be prominent that day. Has had a break since, the yard has had a recent winner so at the price I think is worth chancing.
    5.50 Sligo - 2pts e/w Crobally Boy @ 6/1 Bet365
Looks the each-way bet of the night to me as I can't see the second favourite (5/2) staying 3 miles particularly well and the favourite itself has to prove itself at the trip. Crobally Boy is stoutly bred and has run two good races in bumpers up to 2m4f. Has front run there too so I can see him racing off prominently and so long as jumping okay, should be capable of holding most, if not all of these at bay.
    6.35 Lingfield - 1pts win Ravens Ark @ 9/2 Bet365
Has run in three competitive novice races packed full of representatives from powerful stables and would expect better now handicapping off a lowly mark. Shaped okay on two runs on the all-weather so not envisaging any problems with the surface and showed enough promise to suggest there's more to come now entering a more realistic level.
    7.05 Lingfield - 1pt win Pax Britannica @ 7/1 Bet365
Has shown some glimmers of promise in his career to date and shaped okay in a handicap last time, keeping on over a mile. Has been dropped 3lbs since and now gets an extra couple of furlongs which appears to be no bad thing on pedigree and could unlock more this evening at a decent price.

    1.15 Newton Abbot - 1pt e/w Noble Behest @ 7/1 Bet365
Favourite is obviously the one to beat but Noble Behest has an excellent chance of making the frame here so looks an each-way bet to nothing here. Disappointed on his only hurdling start to date at Doncaster but 2 miles would be sharp enough for him on his debut in this sphere as he stays 2 miles on the flat, so this step up in trip can only suit. Is rated 80 on the level so is no mug and shaped okay on his first run for a few months last time in a good race. That suggests he's well enough within himself and in a poor race, I'd be disappointed if he wasn't in the first three and hopefully we can have a good crack at the favourite.
    1.45 Newton Abbot - 1pt e/w Talking About You @ 18/1 Bet365
Similar story in this race really as there are currently 8 runners and I wouldn't be surprised to see this one run a nice race on hurdling debut. Not sure about the Hiconic form and wouldn't be with that one up in the weights again so I give a chance to Sean Curran's runner who is unexposed on the flat and whilst modest, went close over 1m2f last time out (pulled clear with the winner). His pedigree gives him a good chance of making a hurdler being by Sixties Icon and out of a Mastercraftsman dam and is race fit. Hiconic itself is only rated 57 on the level so it's far from inconceivable that Talking About You could make a half-decent hurdler and at the prices will have a go e/w.
    2.20 Newton Abbot - 2pts win Mrs Miggins @ 5/1 Bet365
Weak race and I think David Pipe's runner can return from an absence and wind surgery to make a successful chasing debut. Has a lot of weight on her back but is the best runner in here and has twice run well (including winning) after two previous wind surgeries. Nothing wrong with much of her form last year over hurdles and conditions will suit on her chasing debut. Is by Presenting and out of a winning pointer so don't see any reason why she won't handle fences and I think she's the best mare in the race.
    2.40 Ayr - 1pt e/w Majalaat @ 22/1 Bet365
Has taken some time to come to the boil but his third start in maidens at Leicester over 6f reads very well - keeping on well and not beaten far by horses now rated 86 and 87. On that form alone, running off 74 today under similar conditions looks attractive and you can forgive his effort over 7 1/2f last time when racing too freely, yet not disgraced. Is bred to get further and I'm sure he will in time but the return to 6f will help him settle and the likely decent gallop will really suit too. Looks overpriced to me.
    2.50 Newton Abbot - 1pt e/w Percy Street @ 14/1 Bet365
Was comfortably behind the favourite on their run here last time but that didn't tell the whole story and it wouldn't surprise me if they were much closer here. Percy Street travelled better than anything in the race but was hampered after 3 out and was stuck behind horses when the favourite kicked on to win its race. This horse did stay on up the straight but couldn't get near the winner - has plenty of stamina at this trip and remains off a fair mark with Tom Scudamore taking over in the saddle. I'm hoping they'll go harder today or Tom gives him a more positive ride so he doesn't get caught out when they sprint for home and represents each way value to me.
    3.40 Ayr - 1pt e/w Chinese Spirit @ 20/1 Bet365
This price looks massive to me with conditions to suit, dropped in class and shaped okay last time out for all has been off the boil a bit for a while. That's allowed a significant drop in the handicap, however, and has taken a couple of runs to get going in previous seasons too. Loves it around Ayr, handles soft ground and will enjoy a test at this trip so I think is well worth chancing at such a big price.

    1.45 Catterick - 0.5pts e/w Cream of the Crop @ 25/1 Bet365
Competitive little race but I wouldn't give up on Michael Bell's charge who was fairly well fancied on debut, sent off at 4/1 at Newbury and shaped pretty well over the 7f that day, keen early on but showed plenty of pace and looked the biggest threat to the winner a furlong out before fading late on. Should improve for that being out of the Michael Bell yard and the step back in trip looks sure to suit on pedigree and running style. There are some decent types in here but the winner looked smart at Newbury and I think could improve significantly on that effort at a big price.
    2.30 Beverley - 1pt e/w Chillon Castle @ 20/1 Bet365
This isn't a very good race and I thought Chillon Castle could run into a place at least here having shaped well over course and distance a couple of starts back. Probably would have been 3rd or better that day with a clear run having travelled well up the rail but had to stop riding and switch out before staying on and that effort bodes well for the return to these conditions. Couldn't sustain a forward move over 6f at Redcar last time but I think 5f is what he wants and it paid to be on the pace that day too. Trainer and jockey are both in form so despite being drawn wide looks a chunky price.
    2.45 Catterick - 3pts win The Navigator @ 4/1 Bet365
The favourite has a chance but is burdened with a significant weight having climbed the handicap last year and I readily prefer The Navigator who was unlucky not to win off 1lb higher at Hamilton two starts back and shaped well at Thirsk last time too. Those efforts were both in class 4 races and steps back in grade to a class 5 today. Conditions suit, is versatile and consistent and I think will take the beating.
    3.00 Beverley - 1pt e/w Hooves Like Jagger @ 22/1 Hills
I just think this one is too big a price not to take an each way chance on today. Was well held on debut at Catterick but the 5f around there is sharp and tricky for a debutant. Found himself outpaced throughout that day but wasn't unfound in the market, going off at 9/1 and should have learned plenty for that. Steps up a couple of furlongs today with a pedigree that would suggest he could have some ability at 2 and the yard is in red hot form, so worth chancing at such a big price.
    3.30 Beverley - 1pt e/w Etikaal @ 11/1 Bet365
Was in good form last year before signing off with a couple of below par efforts but shaped encouragingly in a better race at Doncaster on his reappearance, failing to get involved from the rear but the step back up in trip today will help and looks off a fair enough mark on best form. Has typically competed in higher grades than this so all in all, with progress expected from the seasonal reappearance, looks attractive at a double figure price.
    4.30 Beverley - 0.5pts e/w Minogue @ 28/1 Bet365
Hasn't pulled up any trees in novice events so far but they've been good races and she's still shown some promise despite clear evidence of inexperience. Now enters handicaps off a mark of 57 and this will be comfortably her easiest assignment to date. Her dam was very progressive, from winning a Lingfield class 6 maiden to running well in a French Group 1 so there's plenty to like on pedigree and at a big price is worth chancing on handicap debut.

    1.45 Haydock - 1pt e/w Embrace The Moment @ 14/1 Bet365
Has done well since joining the Ian Williams yard and won readily two starts back at Pontefract by 3 lengths. Is only 4lbs higher today but Gavin Ashton takes off a handy 5lbs and conditions will suit more than they did last time when he raced over 1m4f on soft ground. That was the first time he's run on soft and looks like the return to this trip and better ground will help. Improved for more positive riding at Pontefract and is well placed to go forward from stall 1 and I'd like to see him settle in just behind the leaders here and put it to them up the home straight.
    2.00 Yarmouth - 1pt win War Brigade @ 7/1 Bet365
Has come down in the weights this season and this also represents an easier race than he's been competing in too. Ran a sound effort from a prominent position at Haydock a couple of starts back before being swamped by closers late on (paid to be off the pace that day) and ran a solid race last time out too. This is an easier race, I can see him racing handy without having to go off too quickly and off a good mark should find it easier to repel the competition here.
    2.15 Haydock - 2pts win Cornborough @ 13/2 Bet365
This represents an easier assignment for Cornborough than many of his career starts and shaped well after a long break at Pontefract last time, staying on from the rear at a huge price. Isn't easy to make up ground at that venue and should have come on for it, whilst looking as if retaining his ability. Has run well in every start at Haydock with conditions absolutely spot on today, he's off a good mark and against lesser opposition than usual.
    2.30 Yarmouth - 1pt e/w Seventii @ 28/1 Bet365
Terrible strike rate but in a really bad race looks overpriced as a potential place runner - in better form than many of these yet is outsider of the lot and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was able to run on into a place at least off a featherweight. Ran okay last time over further but best form has come over this distance and a bit further so will enjoy this step back down in trip and if they go hard in front, could outrun the odds quite significantly.
    4.00 Yarmouth - 1pt e/w Smokey @ 14/1 Bet365
Enters handicaps off a lowly mark and I think it could be generous having raced fairly in a decent contest at Windsor last time that it was never likely to get involved in given the ratings of some of the rivals in there. Shaped well enough that day as well as over the sharp 5f at Lingfield the time before that. On that evidence I think this mark of 53 is fair and should benefit from the step up to 6f too. Had a wind op, Hollie Doyle on board and this should be more suitable today.
    4.15 Haydock - 1pt e/w Herbert Pocket @ 25/1 Bet365
Not a high quality horse at all but has shown glimmers of form in his career to date to suggest this lowly mark will be cashed in on when on a going day and I think he could go well at a price here. Did extremely well to be beaten less than 4l at Thirsk two starts back having been very slowly away and wasn't disgraced at Leicester either this season. Was fancied to gain compensation at Ripon last time out but never went with much zest and it's possible the race came too quickly for him. That track isn't for every horse anyway and the return to a flat track today can help along with the break to freshen him up. Looks a big price on that run two starts back and is worth chancing.

    1.50 Goodwood - 1pt win Call Me Ginger @ 13/2 Bet365
Obviously a tricky race but I don't like the favourite personally - bolted in last time but on every other piece of his form you wouldn't fancy him off this mark and I would like to see more substance to its form before getting involved at that price. Jim Goldie looks to have a good chance in this race and of his runners, I'm siding with Call Me Ginger who is still relatively unexposed himself and ran some really good races last year in novices and handicaps. Has been coming to the boil in three runs this year and having finished well after being outpaced two starts back he ran a really solid race last time behind a nice horse and did comfortably best of those held up. Looks the type to relish a big field and strong pace and looks fairly handicapped now if getting the splits.
    2.25 Goodwood - 1pt win Quloob @ 9/1 Bet365
Has plenty of form to make him of interest off this mark and conditions suit him today. For example, looks very well weighted to turn the tables on Themaxwecan on a run last year where Quloob gave a stone to that rival yet today receives a stone for a 4l defeat over two miles. I think 1m6f is spot on for Quloob and he shaped really well over 2m4f at Ascot on soft ground, travelling as well as anything after a long absence before tiring up the straight. That should have brought him on, the step back in trip and better ground is no issue and I think he's capable of a big run.
    3.35 Goodwood - 1pt win Watan @ 10/1 Bet365
Difficult to know whether to side with unexposed runners or hardened handicappers here but I'm drawn to Watan who was very useful last year and shaped well behind Nahaarr last time out. Travelled well that day after a lengthy absence and was a creditable second and obviously gets a swing in the weights today. Though he'd bred to get further, he's faded in every race he's run in over further than 6f and there seems to be plenty of untapped potential still there over this trip. Is certainly quick enough and his form to say that he probably wasn't running over ideal trips last year was really good. Even his novice win reads well now with the well beaten Dazzling Dan rated almost as highly as Watan runs off today. Has to avoid the dreaded bounce today but if he's good to go, I can see him going close.
    4.10 Goodwood - 1pt e/w Tomfre @ 15/2 Bet365
I think with eight runners, Tomfre represents a nice each way bet as he's typically consistent, will handle conditions no problem and I think is capable of winning off this mark. Was a bit disappointing in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket last time out but didn't have the best of passages and that was a good race. Allowing for an off day, the rest of his form is very consistent and was unlucky to be touched off at Sandown a couple of starts back. The winner that day has since run respectably in a Group 1 won by Pinatubo so the form stacks up reasonably well and this one has run a number of good races in small fields so perhaps the hustle and bustle at Newmarket didn't play to his strengths either. Plenty to like in the formbook and I prefer it to the potential brought to the table by a couple at shorter prices.
    5.10 Goodwood - 1pt e/w Anythingtoday @ 16/1 Bet365
Anythingtoday is a battle hardened handicapper but has plenty of form in the book and we know he'll handle conditions, whereas a couple of the fancied runners have to prove themselves today. Caught the eye when travelling well in a hot York handicap last time and this represents calmer waters today. Was a good second to Fifth Position earlier on in the season which was very respectable and I think this easier track will suit him. Big price given he certainly has the class to win this.

    1.10 Goodwood - 1pt win Show Me Show Me @ 7/1 Bet365
Not been flying this season but has come down the handicap as a result and I think he'll really enjoy the way the race is run today. Looks sure to be fast and furious and his only ever previous run over course and distance saw him a good 3rd in a group 3. Ran respectably at Ascot off 6lbs higher last month and although beaten at Pontefract last time, it's never that easy coming from off the pace there. Has been nibbled at in the betting today too and just think it could be set up nicely for him, with a few of these potentially not as well handicapped having seen their marks climb for recent wins.
    1.45 Goodwood - 2pts win Magnetised @ 10/3 and 0.5pts e/w Celtic Art @ 16/1
I think Magnetised is the most likely winner here, looking potentially leniently handicapped having pulled well clear with the winner in a decent looking maiden last time. For all the winner hasn't run since, the third (beaten 7l) was only just denied off a mark of 79 last time out and Magnetised runs off 87 today. The extra couple of furlongs shouldn't be an issue so he looks rock solid here.
I did, however, quite like Celtic Art too so I'm going to have an e/w play there too as well as a reverse forecast. This one has some rock solid form in the book, which has seen his mark climb into the 100s, but there should be plenty more to come at this trip as there is plenty of stamina in his pedigree and has shaped as if needing at least 1m2f in his career to date. Looks overpriced.
    2.15 Goodwood - 3pts win Yazaman @ 13/8 Bet365
Unfortunately nothing clever about this selection but I do think he'll take the world of beating. Was a big eyecatcher at Ascot and for all he couldn't keep going to win at Newmarket last time, the greater emphasis on speed today will help. Will absolutely relish the easy 6f here and I think he wins.
    2.45 Goodwood - 1pt win Mogul @ 11/2 Bet365
I am a fan of English King as a horse but I don't think there should be as big a gap as there is between him and Mogul in the market as there was very little to split them in the Derby. Mogul looked laboured at Ascot but the ground was on the softer side which wouldn't have suited him and he'll certainly enjoy conditions more today. This isn't a huge field so could be a bit tactical and he travelled better than English King in the Derby, with the latter taking quite a while to get going and if this turns into a bit of a dash in a smallish field I think Mogul could take advantage and looks the bet at the prices.
    3.15 Goodwood - 2pts Fancy Blue @ 5/2 Bet365
Another pretty conventional selection but who cares if they win! I backed Nazeef at Ascot and she did the job nicely but I'd have some reservations about the trip as she's not guaranteed to stay. Magic Wand is an admirably globetrotting filly but giving weight away, I think Fancy Blue looks like the one to be on. She did very well to win the Diane in France last time, battling on well to get on top of the extremely likeable and tough Alpine Star late on and I think that form is good. This filly stays this trip extremely well so I've no doubt we'll see her best performances over middle distances and I think she's more than capable of giving a beating to her elders.
    3.45 Goodwood - 1pt e/w Monza City @ 18/1 Bet365
Favourite is thrown in if you can take the form of his run two starts back literally but he's not much of a price so I'll try find an e/w alternative, especially as the favourite might be best on soft ground. Monza City was well fancied on debut when disappointing but shaped better last time out at Newmarket despite being last of five. Was only beaten four lengths and faded late on so the return to a sharper track should suit his positive racing style today and that race looks reasonably good. Everything in it that has run since is rated in the 80s and Monza City goes off 69 today so looks potentially well treated so 18/1 looks quite big for all Mark Johnston's horses can be difficult to predict.

    1.10 Goodwood - 1pt win Chamade @ 16/1 Bet365
Clearly the favourite has a chance but to take horses at 11/8 I'd like a bit more of a guarantee on trip and conditions so I'll swerve. Ran very well at Ascot but was keen so going up an extra couple of furlongs poses some questions, for all he saw it out well over a mile and should stay on pedigree. Also has a high knee action which suits soft ground as it was that day and has yet to race on faster than good to soft, so with those two slight question marks I'm going to take on with Chamade. Still unexposed but looks reasonably progressive, running respectably in hot races so far this year. Weakened late on in the Berlin Tango race at Kempton which was the key to a lot of Royal Ascot form through the likes of Pyledriver and then ran even better at Newbury last time in a race that could barely have worked out better. Chamade was 3rd of 7 with the horses in and all of those who have run since going well to see them get ratings of 105, 103, 102 and 104. Chamade goes handicapping off 93 today and I think the track will suit and there's not too many who want to go forward today so I think is capable of a big run from close to the pace.
    1.45 Goodwood - 2pts win Smart Champion @ 8/1 Bet365
Obviously mentioned this one a few times this week already and got bigger prices yesterday - backed him at Ascot when running a huge race from behind under similar conditions to today, didn't back that up at Newcastle but that came quickly after a hard race at Ascot and he made a big move on the very wide outside turning in which used up any petrol he had. Expect much better today and we know he stays extremely well so represents a good bet.
    2.15 Goodwood - 1pt win Mambo Nights @ 9/1 Bet365
Competitive race but this one ran in good races as a 2yo and has progressed well at 3 upped to middle distances. Readily won first time up this season and then easily backed that up last time, giving plenty of weight away in a small field and making all to score. Had the run of the race there but on formlines would hold the shorter priced A Star Above if taking results literally and is well drawn to get out and a handy position - will enjoy the track and can continue his progression today.
    2.45 Goodwood - 2pts win Significantly @ 9/2 Bet365
Shaped very well on debut when touched off by Muker at Newcastle - that one franked that form at Royal Ascot and Significantly has twice gone well since, but has shaped both times like an easy 5f would suit this strong travelling type who just got chinned late on over 6f at Doncaster and then the stiff 5f at Sandown. The form reads well, conditions are spot on and should go well.
    3.15 Goodwood - 2pts win Mohaather @ 3/1 Bet365
I'm just not totally sold by the 3yos this year so I'm really keen on Mohaather who was seriously impressive last time after having a nightmare run at Royal Ascot. Obviously Circus Maximus technically holds him on that form but we'll never know what would have happened and it benefited to be on the front end in the Queen Anne. Pretty much all of Mohaather's other form makes him a strong candidate for this with the exception perhaps of one run on heavy but conditions suit and I think he can land this competitive renewal.
    4.20 Goodwood - 1pt win Verboten @ 10/1 Bet365
Flopped on soft ground at Ascot but I think you can forgive that and has some form in the book to give him a good chance here. Was a big eyecatcher at Lingfield two starts back, coming from a mile behind to stay on powerfully late on whilst still looking quite green. Should know more now and with conditions back in his favour and a strong pace to run at, should be able to put in a much better effort this afternoon.
