  2. It feels somehow wrong given the circumstances to say that I hope everyone has a great time, but I know that's what Mark would want more than anything and looking like a great turnout of forum members in his honour :ok

Left it right up until the 11th hour before finally admitting defeat on the slim chance I'd make it, even for just a brief flying visit. Back is going to need a few more weeks to recover & just too far/long in the car or train to be viable I'm afraid. Will catch up with everyone another time though. Thoughts with the family, Donna & you all.

Hope it all goes well and a nice sum is raised for the charity.

  3. Think it includes (or at least used to):

    • Redbet
    • Inter-poker (closed a short while back?)
    • Betsafe (had Ongame & MPN platforms, they're retaining the latter)
    • RedKings? (not one I had personally but name rings a bell)

A lot more historically though, members no doubt recall a lot of skins moving to Ongame from various other closing networks over the years, including the likes of Coral at one stage although now settled back on iPoker.

Bwin got bought up by PartyPoker, so assuming they moved to a clone of their software. They can keep my 6p balance, no doubt sucked up by inactivity fees by now :\

Could really do with a timeline map of the poker networks some day, will perhaps try drawing one up on a rainy day.

I guess that pretty much leaves us with just iPoker & MPN now, with the independents of PokerStars, Party, PKR, Unibet, 888, Sky etc. Sad times.

HAND OF THE DAY - £5.50 200 GTD rebuy. Blinds 600/1200. I am in the BB with QQ and a slight chip lead stack of 50k. We have just made the money as 5 were paid.

UTG moves allin for 30k. I'm thinking it's time to win the stack I need to take down the tournament. But then, small blind reraises all in for just over 40k. I think.... and fold.

My reasoning - I'm obviously more than happy to call the first allin. But when the second one happens I start thinking about the different outcomes. This isn't a bounty tournament so I have to assume that the average 3bet allin is going to be a bit stronger rather than someone doing it just to try and steal a bounty. AK very possible, AA and KK maybe but I know it's just as likely JJ, 10 10 etc are there too. Also, being against 2 players if only one has a K and only one has an A I'm still only 50/50 unless one is an under pair in which case I fair slightly better. I felt the skill level of the table was such that if I keep this stack I can still easily win whereas if I get unlucky here i'm down to less than 10k. As it was one had 88 and the other A3 (!!) and despite the ace hitting I would of won with a Q and took them both out. Maybe I wimped out. Maybe I played too safe. But I was right about one thing. I should of still easily won the tournament. I had a 130k lead to 30k and then got reversed. And bought it back to even before the hand at the start of this post. I didn't deserve the win either way.

    Until next time :beer

Very subjective obviously, different people will think very differently and the same person would probably (& should) think differently on different days in different tournaments.

Personally I like your reasoning. Multi-ways are brutal, even having 40% 3-way or 4-way is often not enough to warrant trading off big stacks. There is an argument that you have go for a couple of large pots to win a tournament or dominate a final table, but I personaly always prefer the chipping up against one approach. Without showdown wherever possible, but always leaving yourself outs.

You've seen enough tournaments over the years to trust your gut instinct, sometimes it will feel right but as you said you'd still be effectively flipping for tournament life.

    Well played imo.

  5. Great to hear things are working out better for you, can't keep a good bloke down :ok

Lot's of online festivals/series going at the moment, Wcoop/Mini-wcoop on stars, PKR has something (forget name of it), think i've seen similar on ipoker & mpn too.

Check out the structures/pay offs and plan supporting tournaments to grind at the same time though. Don't do what I did and enter a micro mini-wcoop without thinking. I'm heading towards Day 2 with just enough winnings banked for a cup of coffee! :lol

In profit from supporting tourneys though and heading deep, so might actually work out ok.

  6. Hi Chester & :welcome to the forum, good to see you.

It's been a while since I played these so things may have changed a lot since, apologies if so.

I seem to recall having to log into the poker school webpage where there are some quiz questions to answer. Correctly doing so gives you a poker school token into your poker account. You can then just navigate to that token and see exactly when tournaments are and register direct from there too.

Like I said, been a while, could well have changed but worth a look.

Good luck & let us know how you get on :ok

    Bart

  7. *** Please note the U.S. EDT ***

Sorry too much to edit, will correct if we see a GMT one. Assumed East Coast is 5 hours behind UK, but leave players to check lobbies & plan accordingly.

Only another estimated 3 weeks to go until we all receive the PokerStars "Recommended especially designed for you" $102,000 buyin suggestion email  :lol

  9. Good to see you the other night John. Apologies if you tried to chat, currently have it turned off on all tables/skins.

Just played a couple to see how they were, no intention of playing them all. Really haven't been playing anything for several months now.

Will return later in the year no doubt.

    Good luck :ok
