  1. Possibly same issue as with Grosvenor Poker?, who stated that the software needs IE10 to run, even if you don't actually use it yourself.

Haven't used Betfred in years, just tried to re-install to check for you (& to check whether I still have any old cash dormant on there), downloaded ok, but login pop-up just hanging saying "connect...".

    Win XP, IE8.

Guessing same issue as Grosv. Other ipoker including some on new software running ok for me, just these 2 at the moment (& Genting but they've gone now anyway).

  2. Hi JJG,

Their webpage will probably become clearer nearer the time, so good idea to 'favourite' it and check back occasionally.

These types of tours often provide both online and live day 1's where you can choose whichever you prefer.

Double check this and also buyin requirement, Party have been known to occasionally require you to buyin via your online account rather than being able to buyin with cash on the day (there would be multiple holding tank tournaments set up, so make sure you pick the right day). I'd say it's also worth following Simon Trumper and/or Rob Yong on Facebook or twitter as DTD are notorious for changing formats/structures etc at the last minute or even after the tournament has already started in an attempt to meet guarantees.

Playing live is always a great buzz, I'm sure you'll love it :ok

I use firefox and it works for me

Not related to which browser you use Kev, I use firefox too, but the software itself runs off of or somehow utiltises IE. Software requirement is to have IE10+ installed even if you don't use if personally yourself.  It uses it in the login popup, tournament lobbies, branding banners & links to promos/casino etc.

It will get fixed if/when Grosv:

    1. allow browser running of software (so called non-download or instant play), like other skins already do. Then players could choose to run it via Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc. = Grosv confirmed in the pipeline, but unknown timescale.
    2. produce a mobile app = Unlikely any time soon.
    3. enable back-compatibility with previous IE version in an update = Possibly unlikely as no longer supported, but if as suspected online numbers significantly drop off, they may be forced into doing something.
    4. players fork out £'00s to update old pcs/laptops.
    5. they give up like Genting has = Hopefully unlikely as they have greater number of live events supported by the online qualification process.

For me it's most likely 4. but on my timescale, not theirs.

There are often teething problems/bugs when changing software providers, that's part & parcel of modern tech, and usually I'm very tolerant & patient, but I do feel this particular move has been handled very poorly. Lack of pre-communication, time for support to respond, completely ignoring message content and restricting a significant proportion of existing players from accessing their accounts/software. A big own goal which I genuinely hope doesn't impact them too much.

  4. Helen/All,

Further email from Grosv confirming what I suggested to them 2 weeks ago, but previously ignored in all responses:

the new poker client does require at least IE10 to run, you will not be able to access it if you are using IE8

Will have to wait until I finally update my pc or laptop as will need Win10 to run. Know IE8 is no longer supported, but by not allowing back-compatibility and not yet having browser-non download running option like some MPN skins do, they're cutting out quite a significant proportion of their players.

  5. Helen,

Might have to leave you to run with it for now, with Genting's also gone, no value elsewhere & a few real life issues I wont be pokering for a while.

Eventually got 2 emails back from Grosv, both many days after my email and utterly laughable, obviously scripted but totally unrelated to the issue at hand, despite me taking the trouble to send lots of screenshots. So much so that I've got a withdrawal for full balance going through via the website and told them to email me only when they've sorted out the software issue and/or they want me back. Not wasting anymore time over it.

My Balance also seemed slightly out, slightly larger, but the website stated that was the amount and it was all completely withdrawable, so that's what I've gone with and they will have to do the leg work and provide justification if they think it should be anything different.

For your info they suggested the following (but relates to their website, not software!), already tried this and many other googled settings numerous times and doesn't work for me:

We would firstly ask that you try holding down the CTRL button on your keyboard and pressing the F5 key; this will refresh the page and could solve the problem. If this doesn't work, you may need to clear your cache.

The Temporary Internet Files, sometimes called the cache, are the copies of text, images, and other data from recently viewed websites that are stored on your computer.

Clearing your cache is completely safe and will not remove other saved data, such as stored passwords. Please find more information on how to complete this below, bearing in mind that this process differs slightly depending on which browser you are using.

You should now be able to access our site without additional issues. However, please let us know if you continue to experience problems after following the steps above so that we can investigate further.

We hope this information is helpful and that you can continue to enjoy playing with us.

    Yours sincerely,

The only other thing I can think of is that I can access their website via Firefox, but not via IE, which mentions invalid certificates. If so that's a Grosv issue and nothing to do with IE or local.

Already pointed out to Grosv that can log into other MPN (e.g. Stan James) without any issues and provided screenshots but they're not interested and just ignored them. So be it.

I actually think I'm more pissed off at the complete lack of communication pre-change, other sites always email in advance, but it's as if Grosv no longer care about poker. Even their download pics still show the old software.

I'm still super-loyal and supportive of Grosvenor and very appreciative of everything they've done for me personally, this forum and the poker community as a whole, but they seriously need to up their game and if they can't be bothered nor can I.

  7. It will be interesting to see whether the GPS will be able to continue without the support from online satellites. I guess it will continue to downsize to a £110 or £220 regional series like everything else is doing, which would be an immense shame.

And so the long and drawn out death of online poker as a sport (phrase used very purposely) as we know it continues until Amaya finally gets it's way and all we'll be able to do is log into a single client for a millisecond and Flip HU 4 Rolls. Not me though, I'll be sitting in a darkened corner crocheting warm clothing for the winter :\

Your very sad in perpetuity online GPS champion.

  8. So it seems that it's not worth me trying to sort of the software problems I've been experiencing afterall!

GentingPoker (Online) will be closing from 31st March 2016.

    • You are able to withdraw any funds either via the Poker Client (Before 31st March), or as I've just done, via the GentingCasino.com online browser.
    • GentingCasino.com is not closing, so withdrawals can still be made on there after 31st March.
    • Land based Casinos are not affected and will continue operating.
    • The Genting Poker Series will also continue but without the Online legs or Satellites.

In addition to withdrawing any remaining cash balances, (Edited: Any unused GPS/other tokens will be converted to cash)

  9. Important update from Grosvenor:

Due to unforeseen circumstances Leg 4 of the GUKPT, taking place from 29th May to 5th June, will now be taking place at Grosvenor Casino Walsall.

This leg was originally planned to take place at Grosvenor Casino Leeds Westgate but due to recent flooding in the surrounding area Grosvenor Casino Leeds Westgate has had to undergo some essential renovation work . The extensive maintenance work has meant tournament poker is on hold until all work is complete.

We appreciate all players understanding and we apologies for any inconvenience this has caused. Grosvenor Casino Walsall look forward to welcoming all GUKPT players, both old and new, in May!

  10. next leg (online) updated.

Saw reference to a "Mini" tour also taking place with mention of a first in Milton Keynes. Maybe someone can post up the dates & legs as/when they get announced. Cheers.

  11. See where you're coming from Scoop and yeah I'm guessing that is something that would be difficult to overturn. They'll always retain the right to offer whatever they like to whoever they like.

Would be good if members starting posting up all the promos from across the networks that they encounter again, really helps each other.

  12. Thanks Kev, appreciate the update. :ok

I still can't get it to run at moment, think it's likely a conflict with my old WinXP/IE8 combination (& Win Vista on my old laptop) but not 100% sure as I always just use Firefox.

Assume they beta test on current Windows then back-test for previous versions, which kind of makes sense. In terms of tokens, they will have full records and should hopefully migrate those across shortly. If you need to use the token in the interim, I'd just ring ahead to the relevent casino and get them to liaise with Grosvenor Towers, hopefully shouldn't be a problem to get it verified before or on the day (take a printout with you if you've got it just in case). Grosvenor have always been pretty good with those in the past.

As not playing much at the moment, I'm happy to wait until either they provide a fix or I finally get around to spec'ing the new pc or laptop I promised myself 3 or 4 years ago :lol

ive no problems on Gentings ,won the pennyroll on there twice last week and also yesterday so na na na na na. Only joking Bart hope you get it sorted soon

Actually laughing out loud, awesome post :ok

Make hay mate, I will return at some point no doubt.

  14. Not that I'm aware of, but someone out there might know of one.

Why were you banned? If it's something serious like attempted fraud/deception/collusion/multiple accounts then the chances are that every other Microgaming skin will also apply a blanket ban as will other networks if they get to hear too. If it's a localised issue such as not supplying Betsafe with ID then speak to their support, supply whatever they need and get it lifted. In my experience bans resulting from genuine mistakes will often get overturned if you're totally upfront, honest and speak to them calmly & with respect.

These days with ever declining number of independant networks, it's even more vital that you keep your record clean, otherwise options soon run out.

    Good luck.

  15. Aye, Sandboxie fine for me too, can log into all ipoker accounts except Genting or Grosvenor.

Apparantely I don't exist on the former... oh how soon they forget :lol and quoting their support team I need to "sort it out myself, nothing they can do" & the latter seemingly moved to MPN but download is pants.

I can track a space station 250 miles up and travelling at 14,000mph to the nearest millimetre via any mobile device, but I can't keep track of where all the poker skins end up :eyes

  16. 244 entries in total for Brighton, 191 uniques, £40k guarantee beaten by nearly £9k. 2x £2k seats on top for added value.

25 will be paid, can't remember if they said £13k or £16k up top. Good structure, great venue & on the ball staff.  Great start to a new tour IMO.
