Trotter got a reaction from Zilzalian in Ratings Experiment for the 2000 Guineas.
I don't have any ratings that could be incorporated into this experiment but I do have a numerical system for races up to 8 furlongs
This is based on the average winning trips of sires and damsires. Basically you add them together and divide by two to get a figure in furlongs. I can't remember why now but I called this the SD figure ....... S obviously stands for Stamina but I can't remember what D stands for ........ getting old ! (maybe Distance)
A few years ago I spent a year noting this figure for all winners and horses finishing within 2 lengths of winners in all weather races and then I converted these figures into percentages. If there is any value in this I think it should apply to turf racing as well because it's about the distance not the surface
so for the 2000gns I have range in the field from 7.8 to 10.5 and the 'sweet spot' for horses over a mile is 85 to 95. The following horses qualify with current best price
Alyanaabi - 20/1 wm hill
Haatem - 25/1 bet365
Task Force 20/1 wm hill
This takes into account nothing but the possible suitability for the trip
So for example I have City of Troy with the biggest figure, 10.5 furlongs, which suggests he'd be much more effective in the Derby but he might have enough class to win at a mile even though not ideally suited by it
But on the basis of my little system my 3 E/W shots are .........
Alyanaabi - 20/1 wm hill
Haatem - 25/1 bet365
Task Force 20/1 wm hill

Trotter got a reaction from black rabbit in Racing Chat - Thursday 2nd May
After my nice winner yesterday I was looking to check out all today's 2yo races with my System ......... 5 meetings and only one 2yo race.
It's a disgrace !
so we have the 5.40 at Donny
the overnight odds on favourite is a non runner which adds considerably to the confidence in my selection ...... Off the Bench 9/4 bet365
I was going to pick him at 9/2 or 5/1 but the absence of the warm favourite has stuffed his odds a buit but gives him a better chance of winning ......... tho' obviously I thought he was going to win anyway at bigger odds

WON ! ....... I'll have to put up more selections from my system !
the fact she's beaten a field of well regarded colts, most of which have already won a race, suggests she's pretty useful

I gotta system ! ......... for early season 2 year old 5 furlong races where there's not much form and lots of runners making debuts
(the system is based around sires and damsires progeny average winning trips)
So today we have a nice little Class 2 race at Ascot 1.10 which often throws up Royal Ascot types and my selection is Enchanting Empress EW at 9/1 bet365 (2 places). Outsider of the field and the only filly (which admittedly is a worry). She won on debut and the 2nd has won next time out. She also beat some colts in that race.

Night Raider is a fascinating runner ....... straight to the Guineas after two Novice runs on the AW at Southwell over the winter
won the first by 9 lengths and the second by 5 lengths
on the face it he didn't beat much and the only horse within 5 lengths of him hasn't run since ....... yet he's as low as 10/1 with some firms and his trainer Karl Burke says he's never had a horse show him more on the gallops.
"He's a lot of potential and a lot of ability and I don't think I've seen a horse work better in the 23 years we've been at Middleham," said Burke. "He's got an awfully high cruising speed and he can quicken off it as well. Clifford Lee rode him for the first time in a long time and said it was like driving a car with ten gears. Every time you move on him he goes forward.
"Danny Tudhope loves him and I wouldn't mind having a bet that there's nothing travelling any better than him a furlong and a half out and we'll see what we do after that."
