  1. Re: LOTD - 12th of October Leic 4.10 - Into the light - place lay He's currently 3rd fave in a 7 runner race and you've gotta fancy the 2 above him in the betting will take the places. Country Road beat him 6 lengths last time out Bondage is a CD winner on soft ground two runs ago in a better race The selection has no soft ground form. he might handle it, but his best two runs on turf have both come on good to firm

  2. Re: Racing Post Bettingsite

i must admit' date=' i've been using the old one for ages now and fear change.:lol[/quote'] I've been using the old site as well......... A lot of the things that you pay for on the normal RP site are free on there.....like betting forecasts the previous evening, race analysis if you catch it before it flicks to 'tomorrow racing', RP ratings, speed ratings, spotlight comments etc........ In fact nearly everything that you pay for in the 'Members Club'........ I suppose all that free stuff will disappear when the old site gets the boot !
  3. Re: Novice Chase handicap marks question I'm sure I remember an announcement a year or two ago that they were going to equalise marks for chasing and hurdling, and for turf and all weather on the flat I mainly look at the all weather but lots of horses have a different turf mark to it's aw mark.......... Another query on the RPOfficial ratings on the flat....... They show a seperate rating for 'Stakes Races'........any idea why ?

  4. Re: LOTD - 10th of October Bath 5.20 - Pelham Crescent - place lay He's a CD winner but apart from his maiden win 5 years ago, he's never won with 'soft' in the going description He had a purple patch last year when he won 3 races here at Bath and one at Goodwood but as a result his handicap mark went up and he's not managed to win this season. His mark is gradually dropping again but he has been held off this mark for the last coupleof runs There are also some lightly raced potential improvers in the field today who should have his measure.

  5. Re: best bet of the day - sun 10th oct Bath 4.10 - Grand Zafeen - win at 7/1 BOG with Stan James Goes well here with a 1st and 2nd in his two runs at the track Has never won with cut in the ground but has finished a half length second in a handicap on good to soft on turf. he's also won on the polytrack whicjh i think is equvalent to good to soft, or at least it's not 'firm' Hopefully he'll be ok on the going, tho' it's not certain Won last time out, is 4lbs higher today but has a claimer taking 7 lbs off Channon yard in pretty good nick Should be in with a good chance !

  6. Re: Flat Racing 9th Oct Yeah, I haven't been betting for a while It seems like the fag end of the season.........lots of big fields with owners desperate to pay for the winter corn. Also you never know which horses have 'gone' for the year I don't think it's a good time to be betting..........

  7. Re: LOTD 9TH OF OCTOBER (SATURDAY) Wolv 6.10 - Kinigi - place lay Currently fave for the 6F handicap Been in decent form lately but tends not to run well here. Through his career his wins have been coming at successively shorter trips, starting winning at 7F, then a couple of wins at 6F and his last 2 wins have been at 5 furlongs. I don't think this fairly testing 6 furlongs will suit him nowadays. Also - in a fairly long career a mark of around 60 has always been beyond him. He might pay for his recent good run until his mark drops again.

  8. Re: Best bet of the 9th Oct 6.10 Wolv - White Shift - EW at 10/1 BOG with Stan James Ended a bit of a losing run by winning at Kempton last time. He won cosily that day, held up and only having to be nudged out to beat Kinigi. Surprisingly Kinigi is currently favourite for tonights race whilst White Shift is out at 9/1. I'm pretty sure he'll beat that one again ! He's a CD winner. As he won by a narrow margin he only went up 3 lbs which leaves him still well handicapped on old form as he's won off marks up to 16 lbs higher only just over a year ago. If his win shows that he's on the way back he could run up a sequence before the handicapper gets him again. Drawn wide tonight which possibly accounts for the price, but he's a hold up horse anyway and the centre of the track has looked the place to be recently here. Slight worry is that his odds have been drifting even whilst I've been typing this...........:unsure

  9. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Oct 7th 9.10 Wolv - Standpoint - place lay currently fave for the 8.6 furlong handicap Has only won 1 from 17 runs but usually goes pretty well which means the handicapper isn't dropping him much, he's been around the same mark for about a year I think he's probably best at 7 furlongs, gets 8 furlongs on firm ground, but not sure he'll stay the extended mile here on this quite testing surface. I expect him to fade in the finish Also - assuming he;ll be held up to get the trip, he's not well drawn in stall 1 - might find himself boxed in or with no path through if the field comes over to the rail

  10. Re: BBOTD - Thursday 7th October Wolv 9.10 - Alhawy - EW at 33/1 BOG with Stan James This horse has won 4 times around here and is currently running off a mark below the last of those wins. He's a very in and out type, which is why he usually goes off at big odds and he's not shown much in his last couple of races following a win at epsom If he puts his best foot forward back at his favourite track he could be in the shake up I'm not overly confident, more that there's a couple up the head of the market that i don't fancy and think the way is open for an outsider.........

  11. Re: LOTD 6TH OF OCTOBER (WEDNESDAY) Oh dear..........looking like a disasterous day so far.........:unsure I'm not overly confident about mine either, but here we go........ Kemp 7.00 - Sarwin - lay This horse is being backed today and has now replaced my BBotD as favourite for the 12 furlong handicap He's dropping in class and his mark is coming down. The stable is in decent form and he ran a bit of an eye catcher last time, staying on from the rear on his first attempt at todays trip for nearly 4 years. That was his first run for his new stable. But he is 7 years old and has never won over further than 9 furlongs. He's had 11 goes at 10 furlongs plus without winning. I'll take the chance that he won't stay the trip

  12. Re: BBOTD 6TH OF OCTOBER (WEDNESDAY) Kemp 7.00 - Rowan Light - win at 13/2 BOG with Stan James Only CD winner in the field and most of his rivals tonight look better over 10 furlongs rather than 12 furlongs He won here last time out in a similar race and has gone up 5lbs, but he's a lightly raced type with just 7 career runs and could well be improving recorded a good speed fig when winning here I'm worried about this Charlton runner coming off 3 runs down the field in maiden races............I hate those horses ! The price of my horse is drifting, I'm not sure why that should be, but it hasn't put me off

  13. Re: BBOTD 5TH OF OCTOBER (TUESDAY) Southwell 4.20 - Swords - win at 11/2 BOG with Victor chandler Has won twice over this CD and has now dropped below his last winning mark Has a breal over the summer and this is his 3rd run back, beaten 30-odd lengths on his reappearance and 8 lengths 2nd run.........should be cherry ripe now. This is a poor race, but it's his grade, his track, his trip...........most of the others near the top of the betting have no track form

  14. Re: LOTD 5TH OF OCTOBER TUESDAY Sou 2.50 - sahara kingdom - lay Going to take on the Godolphin hotpot here Has a 100% record with 2 wins from 2 runs, both on the poly last winter. Highly regarded, entered in all the big races this season, including the American Triple Crown Reasons to be dubious........ No course form No soft ground form No distance form Hasn't run for nearly a year - sign of physical problems ? Two wins at lingfield were both slow run races which he won with a turn of speed. Might not be able to pick up on this surface and this could be a test of stamina with a couple of these likely to make the pace Crikey.........just seen the Godolphin hotpot win the first race by a wide margin hard held............my finger is hovering over 'Submit Reply'.........

  15. Re: LOTD 4TH OF OCTOBER Phew - been fighting the computer to get a post submitted......... Darley Sun is odds on and top rated on ORs But he's been out of sorts all season (since switching to Godolphin ?.......mmm, not the first time that's happened) Alsio - much better on form ground ! I think Ajmal could win and I fancy something rated 40 lbs behind the pair of them could cause an upset as well

  16. Re: BBOTD MONDAY 4TH OF OCTOBER Ponty 3.40 = Ajaan - win at 11/8 BOG with Boylesports Ajaan has some soft ground form to his name and gets this trip, tho' the uphill finish might stretch him He has won at the track before Main rival and odds on fave, Darley Sun, seems much better on former ground Good chance that Ajaan might make all and dictate the pace which could help him to last home.

  17. Re: Lay of The Day 3rd of October 3.30 Hunt - Isnt that lucky Having a rare look at the Jumps today with no flat racing in the UK. No real handle on how good these horses are in this race, so I'm laying on the basis that the favourite has had 6 months off and has no real record of going well fresh Won on his racecourse debut a few years ago but since then has been well beaten when coming off a long break Didn't have a great season last year either with 3 poor runs and one decent run (3rd in a good race at the Aintree Festival - still beaten 20L though)

  18. Re: Lay Of The Day 2nd of October Epsom 4.25 - Pittodrie Star - place lay Has run in 3 handicaps since winning a maiden and has been beaten a similar distance in all of them, 3 or 4 lengths. Suggests that the original mark was just too high. Been slipping dow the weights, but probably not enough as yet Not sure to handle soft/heavy ground, no experience on an undulating track Couple of pounds out of the handicap 3 of his 5 runs have been on the all weather and has scored consistant speed ratings to within a few pounds each run, but all of them suggesting that he's a Class 6 type.

  19. Re: BBOTD - Sat 2nd October Newm 3.40 Taameer - ew at 100/1 BOG with Laddies Top weight and a terrible draw in stall 1 means the trends boys will be swerving this one ! On the plus side he's almost certainly a group race horse, has only had 4 career runs and ran a terrific race last time on his first trip to the track for 17 months. On the basis of 2 good runs at 2 he was favourite for the Sandown Classic trial in 2009 but ran disappointingly and wasn't seen again until Donny a couple of weeks ago On his reapperance he finished last but only beaten 4 lengths behind group race horses - Myplacelater, Wigmore Hall, Al Zir. - he was right with them till a furlong out when he faded, maybe through not being fully fit or not quite getting the 10 furlongs ? Back at 9F today and with that run under his belt I expect a Group 3 performance at least from him today. The danger is that there are other group horses lurking in the field with a stone less weight to carry.........but worth a small ew interest at 100/1
